Google announced the Fitbit Ace LTE update on November 13, 2024. It added Family Chat and sibling communication, opt-in Family Quests, the Solar Sword game, two Noodle options and a launch-period discount on a second Ace Pass. This is a recap of that 2024 update—not a newly announced 2026 release.
What the November 2024 update added
The update expanded the Ace LTE’s family features and play content. Google’s November 13, 2024 announcement covered Family Chat, sibling calls and messages, Family Quests, Solar Sword and new Noodles. A separate discount for families adding another watch was a promotion, not a permanent subscription feature.
- Family Chat: A way for eligible family members to call or message through the Ace LTE watch and Fitbit Ace app.
- Family Quests: Shared movement challenges for participating family members.
- Solar Sword: A new action game announced in the update.
- Two Noodles: New visual activity-progress options for children.
- Second Ace Pass promotion: The launch-period offer advertised 50% off the second pass when adding another Ace LTE; it should not be assumed available now.
How Family Chat and sibling communication work
Family Chat is a controlled communication system, not an open phone line or ordinary SMS service. Parents use the Fitbit Ace app to contact a child and manage approved contacts. Google described communication among members of the family’s Google Family group; a contact generally needs an Ace LTE or the Fitbit Ace app on a compatible phone and must meet applicable account and supervision requirements. See Google’s Ace back-to-school update for the contact model.
Siblings can call or message each other once they are set up as contacts. They do not necessarily both need watches: the supported contact endpoint can also be the Ace app on a compatible phone. Having two watches alone does not make them callable; contact approval, family/account setup and connectivity still matter. The November 14, 2024 report described the sibling-calling addition.

Family Quests: shared activity with monthly availability
Family Quests are opt-in shared movement challenges, typically with a collective target such as a step goal. They are released monthly, but a particular quest may not remain available for the entire calendar month. Completing one can unlock Ace content, Bit Valley items and Fitbit Arcade-related rewards. Google’s Family Quests support page says activity from the Ace LTE and Ace app can count, and activity from connected health apps or other trackers may also be used. If a sibling with an Ace LTE completes a quest, both children can receive items and rewards.
Join from the Fitbit Ace LTE app
- Open the Fitbit Ace LTE app.
- On the Home screen, tap Quest.
- Tap Get started.
- Select Join Family Quests.
Join from the watch
- From the home screen, swipe one screen left.
- Open Daily Quests.
- Scroll to Family Quest.
- Tap Get started.
For phone activity to count, grant the Fitbit Ace LTE app the relevant activity permission: Motion & Fitness on iOS or Physical activity on Android. If the watch tracks activity offline, the quest display may not update until it reconnects and syncs. If the quest is missing, check for app and watch updates, reconnect to the internet, and allow for monthly availability; reloading or resetting the device may help if activity remains stale. A missed target does not prevent the family from starting a new quest at the beginning of the next month.
Turkey Berserkey was a seasonal example
The 2024 launch coverage named Turkey Berserkey, a Thanksgiving-themed quest about collecting items for dinner. It illustrates the seasonal content, not a quest that should be expected to remain active.

Solar Sword and the new Noodles
Google described Solar Sword as an action game in which children defend a village and dungeon from invading monsters. It was one addition to the Ace LTE’s games, not the watch’s only game; Google’s original Ace LTE announcement describes the broader play-based product. The available sources establish that Solar Sword was announced in November 2024, but not that it remains available in precisely the same form today.
Noodles are visual characters that reflect a child’s movement progress. The update added two options, which the launch coverage did not name. They are part of the watch’s motivational presentation, not a separate health measurement.

As listed on the U.S. Google Store page checked August 18, 2026, Ace LTE hardware was $179.99. Ace Pass was listed at $9.99 monthly or $119 annually. These are time-sensitive U.S. prices, not prices guaranteed in other regions or in the future. The Google Store listing describes Ace Pass as covering LTE connectivity, GPS location, calling and messaging, Fitbit Arcade access, and ongoing software and content updates.

- Compatibility: The sylacor Charger Dock is designed for the Fitbit Google Ace LTE Kids Smartwatch. (Note: This product includes only the replacement charger).
The 50%-off second Ace Pass offer belonged to the 2024 promotional period. The current pricing listing does not establish that this deal is still available. Families considering two watches should budget for the possibility of a subscription for each, rather than treating the old offer as a standing family plan.
Limits parents should understand
- Contacts are restricted: Children cannot use the watch to call arbitrary numbers or text anyone with a phone. Communication uses approved contacts and supported Ace app or watch endpoints.
- Connectivity matters: Calls, messages, location sharing and syncing depend on network availability and other factors.
- It is not an emergency phone: Google warns that calling, messaging and location sharing may not be reliable for emergency communications. The Google Store listing carries that warning.
- Core features require Ace Pass: The hardware price alone does not buy ongoing LTE calling, messaging, location and content access.
- Quest participation takes setup: Families must opt in, grant relevant phone permissions and wait for a quest to be available.
Does the update make Ace LTE a better buy?
The additions make the watch more compelling for families who want a child-focused activity system alongside controlled parent-child communication. Family Quests give parents and children a shared movement goal, while sibling contact can be useful in a multi-child household. The update does not turn the Ace LTE into a conventional phone or remove its subscription costs and network limits.
Quick wins for a faster PC:
Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →It is a weaker fit for families seeking an LTE watch without ongoing fees, unrestricted calling, or a device they can rely on for emergency service. Compare the actual current hardware and pass costs with the family’s communication needs before buying; the 2024 discount should not factor into a present-day budget unless the offer is explicitly available.
