The Casio CRW-001-1JR is a miniature digital watch built into a metal ring—not a health-tracking smart ring. Casio announced it in 2024 for the 50th anniversary of its watch business. It displays time and date and adds dual time, a stopwatch, an alarm, and an LED backlight. Its fit is less flexible than an adjustable ring: the package includes spacers for two smaller sizes, but Casio does not offer ring-size adjustment service.
What is the Casio CRW-001-1JR?
Casio calls it the CASIO RING WATCH. Rather than putting a conventional watch on a wrist, the CRW-001-1JR miniaturizes a digital watch module into a ring-shaped metal case. Casio presented the project as part of the 50th anniversary of its watch business. The company’s December 13, 2024 announcement and interview gives the launch context.
This is a timekeeping product, not a smart ring: Casio lists no health or activity-tracking features for it.
What can it do?
The CRW-001 provides practical watch functions in a very small display. Casio’s official Japan product listing specifies:

The listed battery is replaceable. The case and bezel are stainless steel, and the display is protected by mineral glass.
How is it made, and what does its water resistance mean?
Casio uses metal injection molding (MIM) to make the compact metal form. The company describes an integrated case, back, and ring structure, with bonded glass intended to preserve everyday-life water resistance while still permitting battery replacement. The product listing specifies everyday-life water resistance; it does not establish a swimming or diving rating. Do not treat the ring as suitable for swimming or submersion based on that description alone. See Casio’s international product description for its account of the construction.

What size is the ring, and will it fit?
The standard ring size is 22, approximately a 20 mm inner diameter (listed by Casio as US 10.5 / EU U). Casio includes spacers to adapt the ring to sizes 19 and 16. The watch itself measures 25.2 × 19.5 × 6.2 mm and weighs 16 g.
Those included spacers offer some fit flexibility, but this is not a made-to-measure or freely adjustable ring. Casio says it does not provide ring-size adjustment service, so check the fit against the intended finger before buying. The company’s Japan listing is the source for the dimensions, sizing, and included spacers.

When did it launch, and what did it cost?
Launch details differ by market. Casio said sales in Japan began December 13, 2024 through its online store and retailers, at a suggested price of ¥19,800 including tax. Casio America separately announced U.S. availability from December 26, 2024 at $120.

Is the CRW-001 practical as a watch?
It makes most sense for someone who wants a conversation-starting way to wear a basic digital watch and is comfortable with the ring’s fixed form and limited sizing options. It is not a substitute for a health-tracking wearable, and its everyday-life water resistance is not a stated swimming rating.
If fit or wrist convenience matters more than the novelty of the form, compare it with an ordinary digital wristwatch before choosing. If health metrics are the priority, look for a sensor-equipped smart ring instead; the CRW-001’s listed functions are timekeeping features, not health measurements.
