Casio’s calculator watch is “back” in the sense that its familiar CA-53 line gained new color finishes—not because the family had been discontinued. In November 2024, coverage announced black, blue-green and ivory versions of the CA-53WB. The classic CA-53W-1 remains documented by Casio, so check the exact model suffix and local availability before buying.
What is the new Casio calculator watch?
The color update is the CA-53WB, a variant of the longstanding CA-53 calculator-watch family. T3 reported the new finishes on 14 November 2024, and TechSpot’s 13 November 2024 report identified them as CA-53WB-1B in black, CA-53WB-3B in blue-green and CA-53WB-8B in ivory. Model suffixes and stock can vary by region, so verify the current listing on your local Casio site.
This is a heritage-led update rather than a documented comeback from discontinuation. Casio continues to list the CA-53W-1 internationally and describes the CA-53 line as a perennial favorite dating to its 1980s debut on its CA-53WB collection page.
What changed with the CA-53WB?
The headline difference is the finish: black, blue-green and ivory options give the familiar calculator-watch design a new look. The Singapore product page for the CA-53WB says the color treatment pays homage to Casio’s Mini personal calculator, introduced in 1972. That page calls the Mini the world’s first personal calculator and reports that it sold one million units in the ten months after release and six million across the series; those figures are Casio’s own historical claims, and the page gives no publication year.

The CA-53WB and CA-53W-1 are related, but they are distinct model designations. Do not assume every specification shown for the CA-53W-1 applies unchanged to every CA-53WB color variant; check the exact regional product page for its functions, display details and battery information.

Battery and replacement
For the CA-53W-1, Casio specifies a CR2016 battery and estimates approximately five years of life. That is an estimate, not a guarantee, and it should not be assumed to describe every CA-53WB variant without confirmation on its model page. If replacing the battery, confirm compatibility for the exact watch and follow its manual or consult a watch-service professional.

Is the CA-53W still available?
Casio’s international product page documents the CA-53W-1, but a product page alone does not establish live stock in a particular country. The same caution applies to CA-53WB variants: model names, prices and availability can differ by region and change over time. Check a local Casio or authorized retailer listing for the exact suffix, color, current price and stock before ordering. The 2024 announcement coverage is not a reliable guide to today’s pricing.
