The Certina DS Super PH1000M STC is a modern recreation of a 1970 dive watch, with a blue-and-orange design, an automatic movement rated for up to 80 hours of power reserve, and manufacturer-stated water resistance of 1,000 metres. Its 43.5 mm case is substantial on paper; reviewers found its sculpted shape more wearable than the width suggests, though wrist fit remains personal. The STC edition also connects the watch to Certina’s Sea Turtle Conservancy partnership.
What is the Certina DS Super PH1000M STC?
The exact model is the Certina DS Super PH1000M STC, reference C024.907.17.041.10. Certina identifies it as a special edition inspired by the historic DS Super PH1000M from 1970. The blue dial references the Sea Turtle Conservancy (STC) logo, while the orange details recall the regular PH1000M design.
The STC is part of the refreshed DS Super PH1000M line, not the orange 1,000-piece limited edition announced for a different variant in 2023. The vintage watch also has a documented connection to the Tektite II underwater laboratory programme, including a mission involving the first all-female saturation diving team, as reported by Time+Tide.
How does it wear?
Certina’s official product sheet gives the case a 43.5 mm width, 14.15 mm height, 20 mm lug width and 47.98 mm lug-to-lug measurement. Those numbers describe a sizeable, thick dive watch rather than a discreet everyday piece. The relatively contained lug-to-lug length may help it sit more compactly than the width alone implies, but that is not a guarantee of fit on every wrist.

Reviewer impressions
In a 1 July 2024 review, Fratello’s Thor Svaboe said the shaped case, bezel and dial made the watch feel more like a 40–41 mm watch on his wrist despite its 43.5 mm width. He praised legibility and called it “reassuringly compact,” while acknowledging that it is not slim. WatchGecko’s Safie Agar-Hutton, also writing on 1 July 2024, described the case as large but not clunky and said its shape hugged her wrist comfortably. These are individual impressions, not a fit measurement or a promise about how the watch will wear on you.
The visual character is similarly subjective. Time+Tide describes a matte, washed-out blue dial, orange minute hand and accents, and a black FKM rubber strap with orange stitching. WatchGecko highlights the turquoise-blue appearance and orange accents. In either description, the contrast gives the watch a more vivid, vintage-leaning look than a conventional black-dial diver.

Does it really have 1,000-metre water resistance?
Certina states a rating of 100 bar, equivalent to 1,000 metres, for this model. That is a manufacturer specification; the cited reviews do not document independent dive testing. A depth rating should not be treated as proof that an individual watch remains water-resistant indefinitely or as a substitute for following the maker’s care guidance and maintaining its seals. The rating also does not by itself recommend the watch for a particular dive.

What does the STC edition support?
Certina says it has worked with the Sea Turtle Conservancy since 2017 on sea-turtle protection and awareness. For the STC watch, Certina says a portion of sales proceeds goes directly to the organisation. Neither the announcement nor the reviewed articles state the percentage or amount per watch, or quantify conservation results attributable to sales. The partnership is a stated part of the edition’s purpose, but the available figures do not support calculating an individual purchase’s donation or impact.
How does the STC differ from other PH1000M versions?
The main distinction established by Certina is the STC model’s blue dial with orange details and the conservation partnership. The 2023 relaunch announcement described an orange limited edition of 1,000 pieces and a standard black-dial version; that 1,000-piece limit applies to the orange variant, not the STC edition. The sources do not establish that the STC model itself is limited to a particular production quantity.

Can you change the rubber strap?
Certina lists a 20 mm lug width and a quick-release system for the supplied black rubber strap. An alternative strap needs to match the watch’s attachment and end shape as well as its width; a strap marked 20 mm is not automatically compatible. Check the specific strap and the watch’s lug arrangement before buying a replacement.
Price and availability
Certina’s June 2024 announcement said authorised retailers worldwide would receive the STC model from July 2024. That launch timing does not establish current stock.
