The minute, seconds and GMT hands stay undisturbed, and the date follows the local hour across midnight. That is the practical difference between a traveller GMT and a caller GMT—not a claim that one is inherently better.
What is a true GMT watch?
“True GMT” is commonly used for a watch with a traveller, or flyer, GMT complication. On the C63 True GMT, the local hour hand moves independently in one-hour steps, so you can set the time at your destination without resetting the minute, seconds or GMT hands. The GMT hand continues to show a second time zone.
When the local hour crosses midnight, the C63’s date changes with it. That makes the feature particularly useful after a flight across time zones: adjust the local hour to match your destination while leaving the other timekeeping indications alone. What’s the difference between a traveller GMT and a caller GMT?
The key distinction is which hand moves independently. A traveller GMT lets you adjust local time quickly when you arrive somewhere new. A caller, or office, GMT typically lets you adjust the 24-hour hand to track another time zone while keeping local time unchanged. The labels describe different ways of using a GMT watch, not a ranking of quality; a caller GMT can be the more convenient choice if you mainly want to keep an eye on home time.

What’s inside the CW-002 movement?
The automatic CW-002 runs at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), has a 120-hour, or five-day, power reserve, and is rated to COSC timing tolerance of −4/+6 seconds per day, according to Christopher Ward’s 2026 launch specifications. The movement also provides a date and power-reserve indication.

Christopher Ward reports that development of the GMT mechanism introduced 23 components: 16 newly designed and seven modified from CW-001 parts. The company says it fitted the mechanism without increasing movement height. These are manufacturer-reported development details, rather than an independent assessment of the design.
How is the C63 True GMT configured?
The watch has a 316L stainless-steel case measuring 40.5 mm across, 14.15 mm high and 48 mm lug-to-lug, with 100 m water resistance. Its display includes small seconds at six, a power-reserve indicator at nine, and a date beside the exposed GMT bridge at three.

At launch, buyers could choose a silver-white dial with orange accents or a black dial with blue accents. The launch release calls the accents blue; independent coverage describes them as light blue. Strap options were a steel Bader bracelet with push-button micro-adjustment or a color-matched integrated rubber strap with deployant buckle. The strap width is 22 mm.

The traveller GMT mechanism is a practical fit for someone who regularly changes local time and wants to leave the minute, seconds and second-zone display untouched while doing so. If you rarely travel and mainly want to monitor another time zone, a caller GMT may suit that routine just as well. The C63’s defining appeal is the travel-oriented setting method, backed by a five-day reserve and a compact-for-the-specifications steel case—not the word “true” as a judgment on other GMT watches.
