The Citizen Tsuyosa x seconde/seconde/ NJ0157-81L is a 3,600-piece collaboration built around one visual pun: its pixel-art katana minute hand appears to slice through the hour markers. It pairs that distinctive blue dial with Citizen’s automatic Caliber 8210, a 40 mm stainless-steel case and 50 m water resistance. The Japanese launch price was ¥73,700 including tax; reported US launch prices differ, so buyers should verify the price and stock in their market.
What makes the NJ0157-81L different?
This is the first Tsuyosa collaboration with seconde/seconde/, the watchmaking-art project known for playful interventions in familiar designs. The name “Tsuyosa” is rendered in launch coverage as “power” or “strength”; the collaboration turns that idea into a joke about time. A pixel-style katana replaces the minute hand, while the hour indices look as if they have been cut.
Fratello describes the conceit this way: the minutes are smaller than the hours, but that does not stop them from slicing the hours into pieces. The edition’s 3,600-watch limit also nods to the 3,600 seconds in an hour. Citizen’s US product page lists the blue sunray dial, reworked hands and markers, luminous accents, and magnified date at 3 o’clock. The caseback carries the product text: “Being smaller has never stopped Minutes from slicing Hours into pieces.”

Price and availability depend on market
Citizen Japan scheduled the watch’s release for February 21, 2026, at ¥73,700 including Japanese consumption tax (¥67,000 before tax). For the US, launch coverage conflicts: Fratello reported US$475, while Time+Tide reported US$495. These are attributed launch reports, not a settled current price or a universal price for other markets.
Citizen’s US product page displayed “Sold Out” when accessed on October 4, 2026. That status applies to the US page at that time; it does not establish stock elsewhere, later availability, or remaining worldwide inventory. Check Citizen or an authorized local retailer for current availability, and confirm the exact reference before purchasing.

How it may fit on the wrist
The 40 mm diameter is familiar Tsuyosa territory, but case diameter alone does not determine how this integrated-bracelet watch wears. Fratello reports a 45 mm lug-to-lug measurement. Time+Tide cautions that the integrated end links and case shape can make it appear larger than that figure suggests, and recommends trying a 40 mm Tsuyosa if possible, particularly for smaller-wristed buyers.
Individual wear impressions are useful context, not a fit guarantee. Fratello’s Jorg Weppelink found the bracelet flexible and comfortable on his 18.5 cm wrist. Time+Tide’s Zach Blass found his sample easy to size and recommends an in-person try-on for smaller wrists. Those accounts describe the writers’ samples and wrists; they cannot predict fit for every wearer.

Is the limited edition worth the premium?
There is no single answer without a confirmed local price and a clear preference for the collaboration’s design. The case, movement and core layout make it a Tsuyosa, while the katana hand and sliced markers supply the model-specific character. Consider whether that artwork and the limited production run matter more to you than a more conventional watch in the same price range.

- Everyday use: Sapphire crystal and 50 m water resistance are useful practical features, but the stated water resistance is not a promise that the watch suits every water activity.
- Price and scarcity: Use the Japanese MSRP only for the Japanese launch and treat the two reported US prices as conflicting launch coverage. A 3,600-piece cap does not establish current resale value or how many remain available.
What to check before buying
- Confirm the reference is NJ0157-81L, not another Tsuyosa variant.
- Check the seller’s current price, location, condition and stock; do not rely on an old launch price or the US page’s dated stock label.
- If wrist fit is uncertain, try a 40 mm Tsuyosa in person and assess the integrated bracelet and case shape, not diameter alone.
- For a pre-owned watch, independently verify condition and completeness with the seller. The cited launch information does not establish secondary-market value or remaining inventory.
