The Daniel Roth Extra Plat Skeleton, reference DBBD02A1, is an openworked take on the brand’s double-ellipse dress watch. Introduced in January 2026, it pairs a 5N rose-gold case with a manually wound rose-gold movement visible through the dial. Launch coverage put the price at CHF 85,000 excluding taxes; a US retailer later listed it at $117,000, a separate local listing rather than a directly comparable price.
What is the Daniel Roth Extra Plat Skeleton DBBD02A1?
DBBD02A1 is also named the Extra Plat Rose Gold Skeleton. It is the third Extra Plat model, alongside the yellow-gold Souscription and standard rose-gold versions, according to Time+Tide’s January 20, 2026 coverage. Instead of a conventional dial, this version exposes a skeletonized movement and its rose-gold architecture.
The openworked display makes the movement the visual focus. Hodinkee describes extensive skeletonization and hand finishing; those are editorial descriptions, not independent testing results. The watch has blued-steel hands, but no indexes or lume, so its pared-back display prioritizes the visible mechanism over conventional dial markers.

What do the price and availability reports mean?
Two launch reports gave a price of CHF 85,000 excluding taxes: Hodinkee on January 19, 2026 and Time+Tide on January 20, 2026. Both placed availability in January 2026.
The US Watches of Switzerland listing for the exact reference showed $117,000 when accessed October 4, 2026, and described in-store availability by appointment: retailer listing. This is a US seller’s listing, not a universal manufacturer price; its tax treatment, currency and date differ from the Swiss-franc launch figure. A SwissP page for the same reference displayed HK$850,000, which should likewise be treated as a seller-displayed price rather than an independently verified manufacturer price: SwissP listing. Practical points before choosing it
Thin, but still an openworked dress watch
The reported 6.9 mm case thickness preserves the Extra Plat’s slim profile, while the 38.6 × 35.5 mm case retains its distinctive double-ellipse outline. Fit depends on wrist and preference; the dimensions alone do not establish how it will wear.

Manual winding and legibility
The DR002SR is manually wound and shows hours and minutes. There are no indexes or luminous material, so the exposed architecture and hands provide a different reading experience from a conventional dial. The published 65-hour reserve describes the specification; it should not be mistaken for an independently measured result.
Water resistance and straps
The listed 30 m water resistance is a rating, not a promise that the watch is suitable for swimming or diving. Time+Tide’s reported 20 mm lug width can help identify the strap width to ask about, but width alone does not ensure that an aftermarket strap’s shape, thickness or buckle will fit. Check compatibility with a retailer or watchmaker before buying a replacement.

How to compare it with another Extra Plat
The most useful distinctions are the openworked display versus a conventional dial and bridges, case material and dimensions, movement and winding method, ease of reading, water-resistance rating, production availability and local tax-inclusive price. Exact current prices for the other Extra Plat versions are not established by the launch reports cited here, so compare contemporaneous local quotes rather than assuming the CHF launch price applies across the range.
