Murdock’s two-story maisonette at 810 Fifth Avenue is asking $14,995,000, a figure commonly rounded to $15 million. The Upper East Side co-op residence is reported to span 5,600 square feet. The price is an asking price, not a reported sale.
Where is the maisonette, and what is it like?
The residence is in the co-op at 810 Fifth Avenue on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. 6sqft describes the building as a Renaissance Palazzo-style structure completed in 1926 and designed by J.E.R. Carpenter. The publication also names William Randolph Hearst, Richard Nixon, Nelson Rockefeller, David Geffen and Charles Bronfman among its former residents. 6sqft’s Upper East Side coverage reports the property details.
The maisonette is described as a 5,600-square-foot, two-story duplex. That scale and layout distinguish it from the image many people have of a conventional apartment, but available reporting does not provide a room-by-room breakdown or a confirmed renovation history.
What is the reported price?
6sqft reported the asking price as $14,995,000 on September 29, 2026. The $15 million figure in the headline is a rounded version of that ask; it should not be read as a closing price or an established valuation. The reporting does not provide a sale outcome, comparable transactions, or enough information to assess whether the asking price reflects market value.

How long did Murdock own it, and how did he use it?
A Forex Factory reproduction of Robb Report’s October 1, 2026 story says Murdock bought the duplex in 1984 and owned it for more than 40 years. The report describes it as a pied-à-terre he used mainly when he came to New York for meetings with bankers, business associates and lawyers.
The same Robb Report account says Murdock made his home in Southern California and died in 2025 at age 102. In that context, the Fifth Avenue property was a New York base for business visits rather than his primary residence.
