The report describes people gathering around the car, but it does not establish who was driving, whether that person was a customer, or where and when the clip was filmed. The car’s distinctive sound has a clear technical explanation: unlike the Chiron’s quad-turbo W16, the Tourbillon pairs a naturally aspirated V16 with three electric motors.
What the reported Reel shows—and what it does not establish
Luxurylaunches attributes the Instagram Reel to Freddie Atkins, also known as TFJJ, and describes activity around a Tourbillon as it is revved. The outlet’s account is the available basis for describing the clip; the original footage and its circumstances are not independently confirmed here.
In particular, the available reporting does not verify that Mate Rimac was the driver, that a “lucky spotter” was invited into the driver’s seat, or that the person driving was definitely not a customer. It also does not establish the filming location or date, or whether the car was a prototype or a customer vehicle. Those details should not be treated as facts based on the report’s headline wording.
Why the Tourbillon sounds different from the Chiron
Bugatti announced the Tourbillon in June 2024 with an 8.3-liter naturally aspirated V16 developed with help from Cosworth. “Naturally aspirated” means the engine does not use turbochargers to force extra air into the cylinders. Bugatti gave the engine a 9,000 rpm redline, a manufacturer specification rather than a measurement of the revs heard in this clip.

The contrast with the Chiron is architectural: the Chiron uses a quad-turbo W16, while the Tourbillon combines its naturally aspirated V16 with electric drive. That difference helps explain why a clip of the newer car revving draws attention, but it does not by itself establish a measured sound level or prove how the two cars compare in person.
Tourbillon powertrain and announced figures
Bugatti’s June 2024 specifications describe a hybrid system with an electric motor at each front wheel and a third motor at the rear axle. The company assigns 1,000 hp to the combustion engine and 800 hp to the electric motors, for 1,800 hp combined. These are manufacturer figures, not independent test results.

All figures in the table are from Bugatti’s launch announcement; the electric range is the company’s announced claim. The release does not turn those specifications into evidence about the particular car in the Reel.

At the June 2024 model announcement, Bugatti listed a net starting price of €3.8 million and a planned production run of 250 examples. Those are launch-announcement figures, not confirmation of the car’s current market price, order availability, production status, or delivery schedule. The “$4 million” phrasing in the viral headline is a rounded dollar characterization, not the price Bugatti stated in euros.
