Breguet’s Expérimentale 1 pairs a 10 Hz tourbillon with a magnetic escapement designed to deliver constant force to the balance. The first model in a new exploratory line, reference E001BH/S9/5ZV brings together an unusual movement architecture, a regulator-style display and the brand’s Scientific-category hallmark. The mechanism and performance figures described here are Breguet’s claims; no independent timing test is available.
What is new about the Expérimentale 1?
Breguet presents the Expérimentale 1 as the first watch in an exploratory line intended to showcase developments from its research and development department. The announcement calls it “the very first high-frequency (10 Hz) tourbillon with a magnetic escapement and delivering constant force to the balance”; that superlative is the manufacturer’s description, not an independently verified comparison. Breguet’s announcement, published December 1, 2025, frames the watch as a demonstration of watchmaking and scientific research.
Its movement, caliber 7250, combines a tourbillon running at 10 Hz with a magnetic escapement. Breguet says the design separates the balance’s impulses from the escape wheel and the rest of the gear train. The aim is to make the force delivered to the balance more consistent and reduce the effect of the tourbillon cage’s inertia on impulse transmission.
How does the magnetic constant-force escapement work?
According to Breguet, the escapement uses two escape wheels with magnetic tracks and a pallet lever fitted with magnetic pallets. The arrangement is inspired by constant-force escapements. Rather than relying on a conventional direct relationship between escape-wheel rotation and the balance’s impulses, the architecture is intended to decouple those functions.

- Read Before You Buy — No Video Output: These adapters support charging and USB 2.0 data transfer, but cannot transmit video signals. Except for standard USB webcams (which use USB data only), they are not compatible with HDMI/DisplayPort cables, video-capable USB-C hubs, or docking stations with video output.
- Convert USB-A Ports to USB-C: Designed to connect USB-C earphones, cables, flash drives, card readers, and other USB-C accessories to standard USB-A ports. Plug-and-play with no drivers or software required.
- Aluminum Alloy Housing: Built with a sturdy aluminum alloy shell that aids in heat dissipation and protects against daily wear and scratches. Designed to maintain a stable and secure connection.
- Compact & Travel-Friendly: The ultra-compact design allows the adapter to stay plugged into your device without blocking adjacent ports or adding bulk, reducing wear and tear on your original USB ports.
- 12-Month Warranty: Backed by a 12-month manufacturer warranty for peace of mind. Designed to meet strict quality control standards for reliable everyday performance.
Breguet describes a threshold in the mechanism’s operating torque: below it, the tourbillon stops quickly; above it, the balance oscillates at maximum amplitude. The manufacturer says separating impulse transmission from escape-wheel rotation reduces the influence of the tourbillon cage’s inertia. These are explanations of the design and its intended behavior from Breguet; the published material does not independently establish real-world rate performance.
What do 10 Hz and the accuracy claim mean?
Breguet compares the movement’s 10 Hz frequency with traditional tourbillons operating at 2.5 Hz, describing the rate as four times higher. The official model page confirms the 10 Hz frequency, but a higher frequency by itself does not demonstrate better practical accuracy.

Breguet says its Scientific-category hallmark guarantees rate accuracy of ±1 second over 24 hours. This is the brand’s certification claim, stated in its Expérimentale collection overview and 2025 announcement—not a result independently reproduced here. The announcement also describes the watch as bearing the Poinçon Breguet, but the quantified accuracy statement is specifically attached to the Scientific category.

How is the watch laid out?
The 43.5 mm case is made of 18K Breguet gold. A sapphire dial rests on four gold pillars, leaving the movement architecture visible. Breguet describes a regulator-style display, with three linked luminous circles for the hours and a peripheral minutes track; the tourbillon sits at 12 o’clock. The announcement says the design takes inspiration from pocket watch No. 3448.
How does the mechanism relate to Breguet’s history?
Breguet’s collection page links the constant-force mechanism to a patent filed by Abraham-Louis Breguet in 1798. Separately, Swatch Group dates the tourbillon patent to 1801 in its 2026 historical article. Those dates refer to historical inventions; they should not be read as saying that the modern magnetic escapement is itself the historic mechanism.
