The sword is a real, functional minute hand, while the familiar Tsuyosa case, bracelet and automatic movement keep the watch practical for daily wear.
What is the Citizen Tsuyosa x seconde/seconde/?
Citizen announced the collaboration on 20 February 2026 and scheduled its Japanese release for 21 February 2026. Model NJ0157-81L reworks the regular TSUYOSA’s integrated-bracelet sports-watch formula as a collaborative art object with seconde/seconde/, a French horological artist and studio known for subversive visual edits to watches.
The concept is deliberately literal: the blue dial’s hour indices look as though a razor-sharp, pixel-art sword has sliced through them. That treatment—not a new case architecture or a radically different caliber—is the reason to buy this edition.
How the sword hand works
It is the actual minute hand
The sword is mounted as the watch’s minute hand and performs the normal minute indication. As it travels around the dial, its blade passes over the hour markers, completing the intended “sliced” effect in real time. It is not a fixed appliqué or purely decorative element.

What remains decorative

What you get in everyday wear
Familiar, versatile proportions
At 40.0 mm wide and 11.7 mm thick, the steel case sits in the mainstream range for a contemporary everyday watch. The integrated steel bracelet preserves the Tsuyosa’s sporty, jewelry-like profile, while sapphire crystal offers a harder surface than mineral crystal for routine wear.
Practical but not a dive watch
5-bar water resistance is suitable for ordinary splashes and daily use when the watch is properly maintained, but it is not a specification for serious diving. The automatic movement can also be hand-wound when the watch has stopped.

Accuracy expectations
Citizen states an average accuracy range of −20 to +40 seconds per day for Cal. 8210. That is a published mechanical-watch tolerance, not a guarantee that every watch will run at the same rate in every position, temperature or state of wind.
How it compares with a regular Tsuyosa
| Evaluation axis | NJ0157-81L collaboration | Regular Tsuyosa baseline |
|---|---|---|
| Dial originality | Pixel-art sword minute hand and sliced-marker illusion | Conventional Tsuyosa dial treatment |
| Scarcity | World limited to 3,600 pieces | Not stated for the standard collection |
| Mechanical specification | Cal. 8210, automatic/manual winding, approximately 42-hour running time | The collaboration retains the familiar, accessible Tsuyosa mechanical format |
| Everyday wearability | 40.0 mm steel case, integrated bracelet, sapphire crystal, 5-bar resistance | Comparable Tsuyosa architecture is the practical starting point |
| Price rationale | Japanese price ¥73,700 tax included; projected US price US$475 | The premium is principally for limited scarcity and collaborative design; a regular-model price is not established here |
The important distinction is value type. The NJ0157-81L does not buy a fundamentally more advanced movement or tougher construction than the accessible Tsuyosa platform. Its premium is concentrated in the artwork, execution and limited production.

- The TSUYOSA Automatic, from the NJ020 series, brings ultramodern sports styling right to your wrist
- Executed in a versatile 37mm footprint, the sophisticated design of the watch delivers a strong impression via a silver-tone stainless steel case and a seamlessly integrated matching bracelet
- Caliber 8210
Is the premium worth paying?
It makes sense for design-led buyers
- You want a recognizable watch with an immediate conversation-piece detail.
- You collect seconde/seconde/ collaborations or unconventional horological graphics.
- You value a finite production run more than maximum movement performance per dollar.
- You prefer a watch that remains wearable rather than a purely conceptual art piece.
A regular Tsuyosa is the rational choice when mechanics lead
- Your priority is the lowest-cost route to the Tsuyosa case and automatic platform.
- You do not care about the sword-hand concept or limited-edition status.
- You expect tighter accuracy than the Cal. 8210’s stated −20 to +40 seconds-per-day average range.
In short, pay more for the NJ0157-81L because you want this specific object. The specification alone does not justify treating it as a major mechanical upgrade.
First-look verdict
The Citizen Tsuyosa x seconde/seconde/ succeeds by making its collaboration instantly legible: the sword really cuts across the dial because it really is the minute hand. With a 40 mm steel case, sapphire crystal, integrated bracelet and familiar Cal. 8210, it stays usable rather than fragile or theatrical. Its ¥73,700 Japanese price and projected US$475 price buy a scarce, design-focused interpretation of the Tsuyosa—not a higher-grade movement—so the right question is whether the pixel-art execution is worth owning.
