Introduced in 2024, the Hermès Cut is a 36 mm unisex collection that gives a familiar round watch a more sculptural outline. Its recessed 1:30 crown, interrupted case curves and contrast finishing set it apart visually; current US examples retain conventional everyday specifications, including an automatic movement, an approximately 50-hour power reserve and 10-bar water resistance.
What is the Hermès Cut?
The Cut is Hermès’ sporty 36 mm watch collection, unveiled in 2024 in steel and two-tone steel-and-rose-gold designs. Hermès describes the case as “a circle within a round shape,” with “confidently cut, clean, beveled lines.” That is the brand’s description; the practical effect is a watch that reads as round at first glance but has a more distinctive profile on the wrist.
Hermès’ 2024 Universal Registration Document, published in 2025, identifies the case as unisex. The collection’s GPHG recognition does not change that positioning: Hermès reported the Cut as a finalist in the award’s “Women’s Watch 2024” category, not as the winner.
How the 36 mm case and dial are shaped
Though the bezel is round, the case middle has a rounded tonneau-like character. Elongated, flattened elliptical areas break up the circle, while the crown sits recessed at 1:30 rather than at the usual 3 o’clock position. Monochrome’s 9 April 2024 launch report notes the mix of brushed surfaces with polished bezel sides and crown, a contrast that emphasizes the case’s beveled geometry.

The debut configuration had an opaline silver-toned dial with applied luminous Arabic numerals and hands. Monochrome also describes a snailed central minutes track with orange accents and an orange seconds-hand counterweight. These are details of the 2024 launch dial, not a claim that every current reference has the same color or layout. Hermès’ US listings reviewed include opaline silvered and light-blue dials, with luminous numeral and hand details on applicable examples.
What movement is in the Hermès Cut?
Current Hermès US product listings reviewed for this article specify the H1912 mechanical self-winding movement, an approximately 50-hour power reserve and water resistance to 10 bar. Monochrome’s 2024 report identifies the movement as made by Vaucher Manufacture Fleurier and gives a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour; those maker and frequency details come from that launch report.

Bracelet, rubber strap and bezel choices
The 2024 debut covered several ways to configure the Cut: steel or two-tone steel and rose gold, with either a plain or diamond-set bezel, and bracelet or rubber-strap options. The launch report listed eight interchangeable rubber strap colors: white, orange, pearl grey, tin grey, glycine, cricket green, denim blue and capucine. Those are historical launch options, not a promise that every color is still offered.

Hermès Cut watch price: launch and current US examples
Prices are tied to different dates, markets and specific configurations, so these figures are not directly interchangeable. Monochrome reported 2024 launch prices of €5,400 for the plain steel model and €17,600 for the diamond-set two-tone model. On 4 October 2026, Hermès’ US product pages displayed $7,775 for steel bracelet reference W403190WW00 and $17,800 for diamond-set rose-gold-bezel reference W404963WW00.

The higher-priced current US example is a particular diamond-set reference, not a universal price for the collection. Who is the Hermès Cut for?
The Cut is a fit for someone who wants a 36 mm watch with a more designed case than a conventional round sports watch, but does not want to give up familiar functional specifications.
