Why this is a relaunch, not simply a return
Urban Jürgensen traces its story to Copenhagen in 1773 and presents itself as a house with more than 250 years of watchmaking. Historical accounts associate the company with scientific work and marine chronometers for the Danish Navy. The current chapter follows a period of dormancy: launch coverage describes the brand as revived under new ownership, with Kari Voutilainen and Alex Rosenfield leading the relaunch.

What is the new Urban Jürgensen UJ-1?
UJ-1 is the anniversary model and the most direct bridge to the company’s recent technical history. It adapts Derek Pratt’s Oval pocket-watch project to the wrist, retaining the combination of a tourbillon, a remontoir d’égalité and dead-beat seconds.

Why the Oval connection matters
A remontoir stores and releases energy in regular increments before it reaches the escapement, while dead-beat seconds make the seconds hand advance in discrete one-second steps. Adding a tourbillon makes UJ-1 a concentrated demonstration of traditional high complications rather than a simple historical reissue.
How to read its edition information
The three 25-piece editions and the reported CHF 368,000 price belong to the 2025 launch announcement. They should be treated as historical launch details, not proof of remaining stock, a current quotation or a guaranteed allocation.

UJ-2 deliberately pares the display back to central time, small seconds and a power-reserve indication. Its purpose is to let the double wheel natural escapement take center stage without a perpetual calendar or tourbillon competing for attention.

Why a three-hand watch can be the technical centerpiece
In a watch with fewer indications, the movement architecture is easier to study through the case back and easier to compare with conventional lever designs. UJ-2 is therefore the clearest entry point to the escapement idea that also powers UJ-3.
What the launch price does—and does not—tell you
The CHF 105,000 figure reported in 2025 describes the launch positioning. It does not establish today’s price, taxes, delivery terms or whether a particular metal-and-dial combination can still be ordered.
What is the Urban Jürgensen UJ-3?
UJ-3 extends the UJ-2 movement concept into a perpetual calendar and adds an instantaneous moon-phase display. The moon-phase work was reported as a collaboration with Andreas Strehler.

Instantaneous moon phase and the 14,000-year claim
Launch materials describe an accuracy interval of about 14,000 years before a one-day correction would be required. That is a manufacturer specification repeated in launch coverage, not an independently tested result.
Resolving the case specification
Contemporary reports disagree on thickness, giving approximately 13.3 mm and 13.9 mm. Until Urban Jürgensen publishes or confirms a current specification sheet, neither figure should be treated as definitive. The reported CHF 168,000 price is likewise a launch-era figure rather than a live quotation.

Conventional lever escapement
In a standard lever escapement, the escape wheel delivers impulse through an intermediary lever. The pallet surfaces involve sliding contact as the balance receives energy.

Is Urban Jürgensen Swiss-made or Danish?
The strongest supported description is a Danish-rooted maison with Copenhagen origins and a Danish-spirit identity, presenting Swiss watchmaking in its modern positioning. The available material does not establish a blanket legal “Swiss Made” statement for every model, nor does it document the country of origin for every component or finishing operation. Buyers who need that distinction should request the model-specific manufacturing and certification information directly from the brand.
Prices, availability and what to verify before ordering
