Fitbit’s official update history does not document a new September 2026 feature rollout for Sense 2 or Versa 4. The latest specifically listed entry for both watches is firmware 220.21, described only as “bug fixes and improvements.” The named features often associated with these watches—YouTube Music controls, screen magnification, added workout recognition and GPS improvements—belong to the earlier 210.26 release, not 220.21.
What the latest official notes say
Google Fitbit’s update history lists the following entries for both Sense 2 and Versa 4:
| # | Preview | Product | Price | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 |
|
Fitbit Sense 2 Advanced Health and Fitness Smartwatch with Tools to Manage Stress and Sleep, ECG... | $160.22 | Buy on Amazon |
| Firmware | Officially documented changes | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| 210.26 | YouTube Music controls; screen magnification; clarified heart-rate zone names; improved exercise heart-rate tracking; automatic recognition for elliptical, rowing and spinning; better switching between onboard and connected GPS; bug fixes and improvements. | These are documented features of 210.26, not 220.21. |
| 214.24 | Status indicators. | Attribute this change to 214.24. |
| 220.21 | “This release includes bug fixes and improvements.” | No model-specific new features are identified in the official note. |
See the official Fitbit update history for the version entries and wording. Because the 220.21 note is generic, it is not possible to name a new Sense 2 or Versa 4 feature from that note alone.
Are Sense 2 and Versa 4 receiving an update now?
There is no reviewed, dated Fitbit announcement confirming a fresh September 2026 rollout for these two models. Fitbit Community material documents earlier distribution: a moderator said 220.21 was rolling out in stages on August 19, 2025, and a later December 2025 discussion contains one Sense 2 owner’s report of a build shown as 220.31. That individual report also illustrates why version numbers should be checked on the watch and in the app rather than inferred from another owner’s screenshot.

How to check your watch safely
- Open the Fitbit mobile app paired with your watch.
- Wait for an update notification or an update prompt for Sense 2 or Versa 4.
- Compare the displayed firmware/build with the version shown in Fitbit’s official update history.
- Install only through Fitbit’s normal app and watch-update flow, keeping the watch charged and nearby during the process.
A Fitbit Community product-expert reply from 2025 advised waiting for the in-app notification and said there was no way to force the update. Treat that as dated support guidance rather than a newly verified 2026 policy; do not use unofficial firmware files or a factory reset as an update workaround. The relevant discussions are the August 2025 moderator reply and the December 2025 Sense 2 discussion.

YouTube Music controls
210.26 added controls for YouTube Music. This is a playback-control feature, not evidence that 220.21 adds a new music service.
Screen magnification
The release added a magnification option intended to make watch content easier to view.
Heart-rate zones and exercise tracking
Fitbit clarified heart-rate zone names and described improved exercise heart-rate tracking. These release-note claims do not amount to a medical diagnosis or guarantee identical accuracy for every wearer.
Three more auto-recognized workouts
Elliptical, rowing and spinning were added to automatic workout recognition in 210.26.
GPS switching
The update improved switching between onboard GPS and connected GPS. Actual behavior still depends on phone connection, location conditions and the selected exercise.
Sense 2 versus Versa 4 when choosing between them
Fitbit’s 2022 launch description positions Versa 4 as the fitness-focused model, with more than 40 exercise modes and built-in GPS. Sense 2 adds continuous electrodermal activity (cEDA) sensing for all-day stress-response tracking. Fitbit describes that function as stress-management tracking, not a tool to diagnose, cure, treat, mitigate or manage disease. The same launch announcement advertised more than six days of battery life and fast charging for the product line; those are manufacturer claims from 2022, not current independent test results or guarantees.
