Google’s October 1, 2024 deadline applied to Fitbit.com’s consumer storefront and web shopping experience. Fitbit products did not disappear, working devices did not need replacement, and the move was not the same event as the later Google Account or Google Health transitions.
What “Fitbit’s migration to Google Store” meant
Google consolidated Fitbit’s online store and product-shopping experience into the Google Store. The U.S. Watches & Trackers section now places Google Fitbit products, Pixel Watch products and accessories in one commerce area.
The October date described a website and commerce change, not an overnight shutdown of Fitbit hardware, the Fitbit app, user data or every Fitbit service. Google’s public Fitbit.com notice used “10/1”; that meant October 1, 2024, not January 10.
The migration timeline
| Date | Change | What it affected |
|---|---|---|
| January 2024 | Fitbit help articles began moving to Google’s support infrastructure. | Support content and help navigation |
| April 2024 | The Fitbit online shop had already moved to the Google Store. | Online purchasing |
| July 2024 | The Fitbit web dashboard was replaced by the Fitbit mobile app. | Web-based activity and health views |
| September 24–25, 2024 | Fitbit.com displayed the October 1 migration banner. | Notice of the final consumer-site consolidation |
| October 1, 2024 | Fitbit.com’s consumer web presence was redirected or consolidated into the Google Store experience. | Storefront, product pages and shopping links |
The sequence was reported contemporaneously by 9to5Google. The October deadline therefore described the completion of the web-store transition, after several related changes had already happened.

What changed—and what did not
| Area | What changed | What did not follow automatically |
|---|---|---|
| Shopping | Customers were directed to the Google Store for Fitbit devices, accessories and product information. | It did not prove that every former model remained in stock or that every country had the same catalog. |
| Product pages | Fitbit listings appeared alongside Pixel Watch products in Google Store’s wearables category. | It did not mean all Fitbit categories or generations would be sold indefinitely. |
| Support | Help content and support entry points moved to Google’s support systems. | It did not create one identical process for orders, warranties, subscriptions and account issues. |
| Web dashboard | The browser dashboard had already been replaced by the Fitbit app in July 2024. | That app change was separate from the October store redirect. |
| Accounts and identity | No immediate account migration was required merely because the store moved. | The later Fitbit-account cutoff and Google Account requirement were separate milestones. |
| Devices | Existing trackers and watches continued as supported products. | A store redirect did not require owners to replace a functioning device. |
Where customers shop now
For the U.S. market, Google’s current catalog is the Google Store Watches & Trackers page. It lists products such as Google Fitbit Charge 6, Inspire 3, Versa 4, Sense 2, Ace LTE and Fitbit Air, as well as Pixel Watch models and accessories. Listings, stock and generations vary by country and inventory, so the U.S. page is not a promise of availability elsewhere.
Google also maintains a Fitbit shopping overview at Shop Fitbit on Google. Buyers should check the store for the destination country rather than assume that a model shown in the U.S. catalog can be ordered internationally.

What existing Fitbit owners needed to do
Most owners did not need to take action because of the October 2024 store change. A working device could continue to be used, while shopping, product information and support links moved to Google properties.
- Use the Google Store for a new device or accessory.
- Use Google support for troubleshooting, warranty, subscription and account questions.
- Identify whether a link concerns shopping, the Fitbit app, account access or a subscription before following its instructions.
- Check the country-specific store and the exact model, because catalog and support details vary.
Orders, warranties, subscriptions and account access can follow different support routes. The official contact route is Fitbit support; Google’s support system may then direct you to the relevant account or product page.

The later Google Account change was separate
Google’s account migration was not completed on October 1, 2024. Google’s current instructions say Fitbit accounts stopped working after May 19, 2026; users needed a Google Account to continue using the service under the new requirements. Details are in Google’s Fitbit Account migration guidance.
That deadline concerns service identity and access. It should not be described as the date Fitbit.com moved to the Google Store, and the October store move did not itself force every Fitbit customer to migrate an account immediately.

The Google Health app change was also separate
Beginning May 19, 2026, Google started transitioning the Fitbit app experience to the Google Health app. Google describes that change in its Google Health and Fitbit announcement and related support information. It concerns the health-app experience and branding, not the earlier online-store consolidation.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Support life is a model-by-model question
A website move does not establish how long a particular tracker or watch receives software or security support. Google’s device documentation lists model-specific minimum security-support periods. For example, it lists guaranteed minimum security updates through February 2028 for Charge 6, Inspire 3, Sense 2 and Versa 4, subject to Google’s stated conditions. Check the current device-support table for the model you own or plan to buy.
Best Value
- Inspire 3 is the tracker that helps you find your energy, do what you love and feel your best – all you have to do is wear it;
- Compatible with Apple iOS 16.4 or higher and Android OS 11.0 or higher
- Move more: Stay motivated with a Daily Readiness Score, Active Zone Minutes, all-day activity tracking and 24/7 heart rate, 40+ exercise modes, automatic exercise tracking, and reminders to move
- Stress less: Keep an eye on your well-being with a daily Stress Management Score, mindfulness sessions, relax breathing sessions, irregular heart rhythm notifications, SpO2, menstrual health tracking, resting heart rate, and more[1,2]
- Sleep better: Automatic sleep tracking, a daily detailed Sleep Score, smart wake vibrating alarm, and sleep mode help you improve your sleep quality[3]
Support duration, app compatibility, account access and subscription terms are different questions. A device can remain within its stated security-support period even though the shopping site, account system or app branding has changed.
Fitbit products did not vanish
The Google Store continues to list Google Fitbit devices, so “Fitbit was shut down” is too broad a description of the October event. Google’s strategy increasingly highlights Pixel Watch for full smartwatch experiences, while Fitbit remains associated with trackers and other wearable products. The continued presence of a product in the store does not guarantee indefinite production or availability.
Buyers comparing categories should verify current listings and requirements:
- Charge 6: a compact Fitbit tracker for readers who want the established Fitbit tracking experience.
- Inspire 3: a simpler, less watch-like tracker.
- Sense 2 and Versa 4: Fitbit-branded smartwatch-style products whose current stock and long-term platform direction should be checked before purchase.
- Pixel Watch: a fuller Google/Wear OS smartwatch choice with different phone compatibility and battery expectations.
- Ace LTE: a child-focused wearable with its own account, connectivity and subscription requirements.
- Fitbit Air: a newer Google Fitbit listing whose features, price and availability should be confirmed on the official product page.
Other platform considerations
Readers who prefer to avoid Google Accounts or Google Health should account for Fitbit’s increasing integration with Google services. Anyone considering the legacy Fitbit Web API should also note that Google’s developer documentation schedules its shutdown for September 2026; that is an API change, not part of the 2024 store migration. See Google Health developer information.
Bottom line
The October 1, 2024 deadline was real, but its scope was narrow: Fitbit.com’s consumer storefront and web shopping presence moved into the Google Store. Fitbit hardware and the brand continued, while support, account identity, the app and the legacy API followed separate timelines—some of them years later.
