The Fortis Vagabond V-40 is a 40 mm automatic GMT built around a large second-time-zone ring, a Grade 5 titanium case and bracelet, and 200 m water resistance. Fortis says its chronometer-certified Werk 13 movement has a 70-hour power reserve; the watch also includes a date. One fit detail needs context: Fortis currently lists a 46.5 mm lug-to-lug measurement, while Fratello’s October 2024 launch review reported 51 mm.
Is the Fortis Vagabond V-40 a true GMT?
It is an automatic GMT with a date and a prominent ring for reading a second time zone. Fortis positions the ring as a way to keep home time visible while traveling. Fratello describes the V-40 as a traveler’s GMT and calls its movement a modern flyer-GMT calibre. However, the available product material does not document the hand-setting sequence, so it does not independently establish how the local-hour hand is adjusted.
The second-time-zone ring is applied 18-carat white gold, a distinctive precious-metal detail against the Grade 5 titanium case. Fortis specifies Super-LumiNova X1 on the applied dial indices and hands, with a blue glow; that is a manufacturer specification, not an independent measurement of brightness or duration.
How big does the Fortis V-40 wear?
Fortis’s current product page lists a 40 mm case diameter, 46.5 mm lug-to-lug, 13.9 mm height and 74 g for the watch head. Those numbers offer useful sizing context, but they cannot predict fit on every wrist. There is a published measurement conflict: Fratello’s launch-era review gives the lug-to-lug as 51 mm. No explanation for the difference is provided, so treat 46.5 mm as Fortis’s current specification and note the independent report rather than assuming the figures are interchangeable.
