Galaxy Ring 2 appears to be in development, but Samsung did not announce it at its July 22, 2026 Galaxy Unpacked event. Reporting from Korean industry sources and follow-up comments attributed to Samsung executives now point to early 2027 as the leading rumored window. Samsung has not confirmed a launch date, final name, specifications, price, or release markets.
The short version
| Question | Best-supported answer |
|---|---|
| Is a successor being developed? | Yes, according to comments attributed to Samsung’s digital-health leadership and reported by Android Authority. |
| Is “Galaxy Ring 2” officially announced? | No. Samsung has reportedly referred to a next-generation Galaxy Ring, but the retail name is unconfirmed. |
| Will it launch in 2026? | That now looks unlikely. Samsung’s July 22, 2026 Unpacked event passed without a ring successor. |
| What is the leading timing rumor? | Early 2027, potentially around the January or February Galaxy S27 launch period. This remains unconfirmed reporting. |
| Should you buy the original? | Buy now only if its current Samsung Health integration and ring design meet your needs at a worthwhile price. Otherwise, waiting is sensible. |
The expected 2026 launch window has already passed
The original Galaxy Ring launched in July 2024, so a two-year refresh in summer 2026 would have been a reasonable expectation. Samsung instead held Galaxy Unpacked in London on July 22, 2026 and focused on new foldables, Galaxy Watch products and intelligent eyewear. The company’s official Unpacked highlights do not list a Galaxy Ring successor.
That omission is the clearest evidence against a summer 2026 release. It does not prove that Samsung canceled the project; it shows only that the company chose not to unveil it at the event most observers expected.
Galaxy Ring 2 is reportedly real—but its date and name are not
Reports on comments from Samsung digital-health chief Hon Pak say the company is working on a next-generation Galaxy Ring and is considering improvements to sensor performance, battery life, software and services. Android Authority’s account is the strongest public indication that development is continuing: Samsung is reportedly developing a successor.

Why Samsung may be taking longer
Battery life without a bulkier ring
ET News-related reporting says Samsung is targeting improvements including longer battery life, with one report mentioning up to 10 days. That figure is a reported development target, not a Samsung specification. A ring has far less room than a watch for a battery, sensors, radios and charging components, so extending endurance without increasing thickness or discomfort is a difficult engineering trade-off.
More accurate sensors and sleep data
Reports also describe work on sensor accuracy, temperature sensing and sleep tracking. These are the areas where a modest annual refresh would be least convincing: users notice whether overnight readings are consistent and useful, not simply whether a new sensor has been added.

Fit, size and comfort
Adding hardware can make a ring heavier or thicker. Samsung may be trying to improve sensing while preserving comfortable overnight wear. That is a reasonable engineering interpretation of the reported goals, not a confirmed explanation from Samsung.
Software and services as the differentiator
Pak’s reported comments emphasize software and services as well as hardware. Samsung may want the next ring to contribute more meaningfully to Samsung Health and work alongside Galaxy phones and watches, rather than duplicate the first model’s measurements in a smaller package.
Launch timing and product positioning
Coverage citing Korean industry reporting says Samsung’s market-growth plans and wider wearable strategy may have influenced the schedule. Delaying a ring until it has a clearer role beside Galaxy Watch could be preferable to placing a minor update in a crowded summer launch.

What the next ring could improve
Reported development targets
- Longer battery life; a reported target is up to 10 days, but Samsung has not confirmed it.
- Improved sensor performance and temperature measurements.
- More accurate sleep analysis.
- A thinner, lighter or more comfortable fit.
- Expanded cardiovascular-health insights.
- Stronger Samsung Health software and service integration.
Android Central’s reporting likewise describes possible sensor and sleep improvements: the rumored early-2027 device remains unconfirmed.
Plausible but unconfirmed possibilities
Broader phone compatibility, including iPhone support, has been hinted at in reporting but has not been announced. The same applies to new cardiovascular features or a particular battery technology. Do not treat any of these as reasons to buy now.

Non-invasive blood-glucose monitoring, blood-pressure monitoring, a specific silicon-carbon battery and major medical functions remain speculation. A smart ring’s wellness insights are not the same as diagnosis or clinical measurement.

What the delay means for the original Galaxy Ring
Samsung’s original ring remains a practical choice for Galaxy owners who want discreet tracking and Samsung Health integration without a required monthly subscription. Samsung launched it in the United States at $399.99; that was the July 2024 starting price, not a guarantee of today’s retail price. Samsung lists 11 sizes (5 through 15), weights of approximately 2.3–3.3 grams depending on size, and up to seven days of battery life. See the launch announcement and Samsung’s 2026 first-quarter interim report for those manufacturer specifications.
“Up to seven days” is a maximum claim. Workouts, sleep monitoring, sensor sampling, phone connection, firmware, temperature, battery age and ring size can all affect actual endurance. Samsung has not promised a trade-in offer, discount or extended support policy for the original when a successor appears.
Buy now or wait?
Buy the original Galaxy Ring now if:
- You already use a recent Samsung Galaxy phone and want Samsung Health data immediately.
- You prefer a ring to a watch and do not want a subscription.
- The current feature set is sufficient and you can find a meaningful discount.
- You accept the manufacturer’s up-to-seven-day claim rather than waiting for an unconfirmed improvement.
Wait if:
- Battery life, sleep accuracy or temperature sensing is your main concern.
- You are comfortable waiting until at least the leading early-2027 rumor window.
- You need confirmed iPhone compatibility or want a substantial rather than incremental upgrade.
- You would regret paying full launch-era pricing shortly before a possible successor.
Do not buy based only on rumors if:
- You need medical-grade monitoring or diagnostic measurements.
- You are counting on blood-glucose tracking, a 10-day battery or iPhone support.
- You cannot accept uncertainty around future warranty, battery replacement or launch availability.
Compatibility details to check
The current Galaxy Ring is built around Samsung’s Galaxy ecosystem. Reporting indicates that it can pair with modern Android phones, while some functions remain Samsung-specific. Before buying, distinguish basic Bluetooth pairing from Samsung Health access, Galaxy AI features and functions that may require a Galaxy Watch. Do not assume that current compatibility will carry over to the successor. iPhone support for the next generation remains unconfirmed.
Alternatives if you do not want to wait
| Device or platform | Best suited to | Main trade-off |
|---|---|---|
| Oura Ring | A mature sleep and health platform. | Membership costs and no Samsung Health integration. |
| RingConn | Subscription-free tracking and battery-focused buyers. | Different ecosystem and support experience from Samsung; verify current specifications and price. |
| Ultrahuman Ring | Subscription-free recovery, sleep and fitness insights. | Less suited to buyers seeking Samsung-specific services. |
| Galaxy Watch | GPS, notifications, live workout controls and a screen. | More visible and less discreet for overnight wear than a ring. |
Check each manufacturer’s live product page for current prices, sizes, promotions, return terms and compatibility before ordering.
Release-window confidence
| Timing | Confidence | How to interpret it |
|---|---|---|
| Summer 2026 | Low | The July 22 Unpacked event passed without a successor. |
| Late 2026 | Low | No credible confirmed launch evidence has emerged. |
| Early 2027 | Moderate as a rumor | Multiple reports point to January or February, but Samsung has not confirmed it. |
| Exact date | None | No official date exists. |
Bottom line for prospective buyers
Do not expect Galaxy Ring 2 imminently. Samsung appears to be developing a successor, and the extra time may be intended to deliver better endurance, sensing, comfort and software rather than a cosmetic refresh. Early 2027 is the leading reported window—not a promise. Buy the current Galaxy Ring when its present capabilities, Samsung ecosystem and price are right; otherwise, wait for Samsung to publish the name, specifications and launch date.
