On May 17, 2024, a report identified five Samsung wearable model numbers in FCC filings: SM-L300, SM-L305, SM-L310, SM-L315 and SM-R861. The first four were believed to be Galaxy Watch 7 variants, while SM-R861 was thought to be the Galaxy Watch FE. The appearance signaled regulatory testing—not a product announcement or a confirmed launch date.
What appeared in the FCC filings
The May 17, 2024 report described the devices in the filings generically as “Smart Wearable.” That label did not name the Galaxy Watch 7 or Watch FE; the product identities were inferred from the model numbers and reported connectivity details. The reported models and interpretations were:
| Model number | Reported interpretation | Confidence and qualification |
|---|---|---|
| SM-L300 | Galaxy Watch 7, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | Connectivity was reported; the retail name and size were inferred. |
| SM-L305 | Galaxy Watch 7, LTE | LTE configuration was reported; carrier support and market availability were not established. |
| SM-L310 | Galaxy Watch 7, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | Connectivity was reported; the retail name and size were inferred. |
| SM-L315 | Galaxy Watch 7, LTE | LTE configuration was reported; carrier support and market availability were not established. |
| SM-R861 | Likely Galaxy Watch FE, Bluetooth/Wi-Fi | The FE identification was an interpretation, not a product name confirmed by the generic filing label. |
These model-number and connectivity details were reported by Droid Life on May 17, 2024. An FCC filing is useful evidence that a wireless device is undergoing certification-related testing and can reveal radio configurations. It is not a full retail specification sheet.
How the Watch 7 sizes were inferred
The report interpreted SM-L300 and SM-L305 as the smaller Watch 7 configuration, likely 40mm, and SM-L310 and SM-L315 as the larger one, likely 44mm. It associated the “05” suffixes with LTE models. Those size names were not independently verified by the FCC appearance: the mapping relied on Samsung model-number patterns and the grouping of the listings.

What SM-R861 suggested about the Galaxy Watch FE
SM-R861 was reported as a Bluetooth/Wi-Fi-only wearable and believed to represent the Galaxy Watch FE. That makes the filing notable beyond the main Watch 7 lineup, but the identification remained provisional because the public-facing description was simply “Smart Wearable.” The filing did not establish a final consumer name or a complete FE specification.
Was a Galaxy Watch 7 Pro listed?
No. The model numbers discussed in the report did not include the expected SM-L700 or SM-L705. That is a description of the reported filing snapshot, not proof that Samsung had canceled a Pro model or that one could never appear in a later filing.

Why the timing attracted attention
The May 2024 report compared the sighting with the previous generation: the Galaxy Watch 6 reached the FCC in June 2023, ahead of its July announcement and August 11 availability, according to Droid Life’s Galaxy Watch 6 timeline. That precedent made a near-term Samsung wearable launch seem plausible, but certification timing varies by model, country, carrier and regulatory process. It could not establish when the Watch 7 would be announced or ship.

- Final product names, retail prices or exact announcement and shipping dates.
- Complete specifications such as processor, battery capacity, display size or brightness, software version and health features.
- Whether every listed model would be sold in the United States or another particular market.
- Carrier compatibility, wearable-plan requirements, subscription costs or unlocked status for LTE configurations.
- Whether a Galaxy Watch 7 Pro would launch, or whether it had been canceled.
In short, the May 17, 2024 report made the Watch 7 family look like it was advancing through regulatory testing. The model numbers offered useful clues about connectivity and possible variants, but the exact retail lineup and launch plans remained outside what that FCC appearance could prove.
