Yes—Samsung’s One UI 8 Watch update has reached Galaxy Watch7 devices in the United States. The update moves the watch to the Wear OS 6 generation, also identified in firmware records as AndroidWear 6.0. However, availability is still distributed by model, carrier, and software region, so not every 40mm or 44mm Watch7 will show the update at the same time.
US rollout status
Verizon lists a Galaxy Watch7 update released on June 12, 2026, including build L305USQS3BZF4 for the 40mm LTE model and L315USQS3BZF4 for the 44mm LTE model. Samsung’s US update history later listed build L305USQS3BZF4 for model SM-L305U with a July 13, 2026 release date and a July 5, 2026 security patch.
That confirms the update has entered US firmware channels; it does not mean Samsung delivered one simultaneous nationwide release. LTE carrier firmware, unlocked models, Bluetooth models, and imported watches can follow different schedules.
Check Verizon’s Galaxy Watch7 update record and the Samsung US SM-L305U firmware history for model-specific evidence.

Which Watch7 models are covered?
- Galaxy Watch7 40mm Bluetooth
- Galaxy Watch7 40mm LTE
- Galaxy Watch7 44mm Bluetooth
- Galaxy Watch7 44mm LTE
Samsung’s US LTE model numbers include SM-L305U for the 40mm version and SM-L315U for the 44mm version. Bluetooth variants use different identifiers and may not receive an update on the same date. To identify your watch, open Galaxy Wearable → Watch settings → About watch, or check the model information in the watch’s Settings app.
An imported Watch7 may continue to follow the firmware schedule of its original sales region, even when it is being used in the US.
What One UI 8 Watch adds
One UI 8 Watch is Samsung’s watch interface running on the Wear OS 6 platform. It is not Android phone One UI 8 installed on the watch, and it does not change the Watch7’s hardware into a newer Galaxy Watch generation.
Now bar
The Now bar places ongoing tasks at the bottom of the watch face, making relevant live information and associated controls easier to reach. It is part of the watch interface, not a separate app that must be downloaded.

Double-pinch controls
Pinching the thumb and index finger together twice can control supported actions. Samsung identifies uses including notification scrolling, music controls, and camera controls, along with additional interactions. Support varies by action and app; the gesture should not be treated as a universal control for every watch application.
App-list view
You can display apps in a named list rather than relying only on icon-based navigation.
Selectable calendars
The Calendar app can show all calendars synchronized from the phone or only selected calendars. That is useful when work, personal, shared, and subscribed calendars would otherwise appear together.
The update also includes the broader Wear OS 6 software foundation. Individual features—particularly account-linked, phone-dependent, or health-related functions—can depend on the paired phone, Samsung account, Galaxy Wearable plug-in, Samsung Health version, region, carrier, or local regulatory approval.

How to install the update
- Charge the watch and keep it connected to its paired phone.
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Select your connected Galaxy Watch7.
- Open Watch settings.
- Tap Watch software update.
- Select Download and install if an update is available.
On the watch itself, the alternative path is usually Settings → Software update → Download and install. Labels can vary slightly by software version and region.
Keep the phone and watch near each other during the download and installation. Do not remove the watch from its charger or intentionally interrupt the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi connection while the update is being applied.
If One UI 8 Watch is not showing
A missing update does not automatically mean that your watch is unsupported. Work through these checks:
- Confirm that the device is a Galaxy Watch7, not a Watch6, Watch FE, or another model.
- Check the exact model number and whether the watch is Bluetooth or LTE.
- Update the Galaxy Wearable app and the watch plug-in on the phone.
- Restart both the phone and watch.
- Try again on a stable Wi-Fi connection.
- Check later, since carrier and regional releases can be staged.
- Compare the exact model with the relevant Samsung support and update information.
Insufficient watch storage, a low battery, a dropped phone-watch connection, roaming or carrier restrictions on an LTE model, and a regional firmware mismatch can all prevent or delay installation. Avoid manually flashing firmware unless you understand the risks of using software intended for another region or carrier.

Does the Watch7 need a Samsung phone?
Samsung specifies Android-phone compatibility for Wear OS Galaxy watches, generally requiring Android 11 or later. Android Go editions and phones without Google Play Store access are excluded from the stated compatibility requirements.
A Samsung phone is not necessarily required for basic Android compatibility, but Samsung-specific features may require a Galaxy smartphone, Samsung account, Samsung Health, or particular phone software. Feature availability may therefore differ on a non-Samsung Android phone. Samsung’s Wear OS documentation does not establish iPhone compatibility for the Watch7, so iPhone support should not be assumed.
See Samsung’s Galaxy Watch7 specifications and US Wear OS Galaxy Watch support page for the stated compatibility requirements.

If you already own a functioning Galaxy Watch7, there is no software-only reason to replace it with a newer watch: the Watch7 has received the same major One UI 8 Watch generation. Install the update if you want its interface and Wear OS 6 features, but do not expect a hardware-generation change or guaranteed battery-life improvement. Battery behavior can vary after a major update as apps and services resynchronize.

Buy a newer model for hardware reasons instead. Samsung’s June 2026 US MSRP sheet lists the Galaxy Watch8 from $349.99, the Watch8 Classic from $449.99, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra at $649.99; those are MSRP figures, not necessarily current sale prices. The Watch8 is aimed at shoppers who want newer hardware, the Classic at those who want a rotating bezel, and the Ultra at buyers prioritizing a larger, ruggedized design and greater battery capacity.
Before replacing a Watch7 because an update is delayed, verify the model number, carrier, software region, Galaxy Wearable app, and staged-rollout status.
US status
As of August 18, 2026: One UI 8 Watch has reached Galaxy Watch7 US firmware channels. The exact build and delivery date still depend on the watch’s model, LTE carrier, and software region.
