Garmin Venu 4: Price, Release Date, Features, and What $549.99 Gets You

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Garmin’s Venu 4 is available in the U.S., but it is not a new 2026 launch: Garmin announced it on September 17, 2025, and it went on sale September 22, 2025. The series starts at $549.99 for standard silicone-band configurations, with 41mm and 45mm models. Its pitch is Garmin fitness and recovery tracking in a polished AMOLED smartwatch, now with a built-in LED flashlight and multi-band GPS. It is not a cellular watch, and it does not offer full-color onboard maps.

Price, availability, and what comes in the box

In the United States, Garmin lists the Venu 4 at a suggested retail price starting at $549.99. That starting price applies to standard silicone-band configurations; leather-band versions have been reported at about $599, so check the exact finish and band before ordering. Availability and colors can vary. Garmin’s 45mm product page shows current model and shipping information.

The standard package includes the watch with a silicone band, a Garmin charging/data cable, and documentation. GPS and health sensors are built in, and core Garmin Connect features do not require a monthly subscription. Accessories and premium band configurations may cost extra. Garmin announced the watch on September 17, 2025, and made it available September 22, 2025. Garmin’s launch announcement has the original timing and feature details.

What is new on the Venu 4?

Hardware for everyday use

The Venu 4 adds a stainless-steel case and bezel, a genuine built-in LED flashlight, and a speaker and microphone. The flashlight is more useful than a bright watch display when you need light at a bedside or extra visibility on a dark walk or ride; review coverage describes adjustable brightness and a red-light mode. It has an AMOLED touchscreen, two physical buttons, and a 5 ATM water rating. Connectivity includes Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, ANT+, and NFC, with Garmin Pay and onboard music storage.

  • Log custom or preset daily behaviors — such as caffeine and alcohol intake — and view reports in the Garmin Connect smartphone app on how lifestyle choices may impact your sleep, stress and HRV to help you make more health-conscious decisions (device data presented is intended to be a close estimation of metrics tracked)

Multi-band satellite positioning is another notable addition. It can improve positioning in challenging environments, but it is not a substitute for full-color onboard maps or the navigation features of Garmin’s outdoor-focused watches.

Health, sleep, and training

Garmin’s feature set includes heart-rate monitoring, HRV status, Body Battery, stress tracking, sleep scores and insights, sleep coaching, nap detection, and Pulse Ox where available. Skin-temperature tracking supports certain women’s-health features, including improved period predictions and past-ovulation estimates. Health Status, Lifestyle Logging, and Morning and Evening Reports add ways to review patterns and daily context.

For exercise, the watch offers a wide selection of activity profiles, wrist-based running dynamics, training readiness and status, workout benefit, recovery time, and Garmin Fitness Coach plans. These features broaden the Venu line’s training tools while retaining its everyday-watch focus.

Garmin presents wellness and fitness measurements as tools for tracking, not medical diagnosis. ECG App availability depends on supported regions, compatible hardware, current Garmin Connect and watch software, and user eligibility, including Garmin’s age requirement. Pulse Ox availability also varies by country. Check Garmin’s launch information for the relevant regional and software qualifications.

Garmin’s official headline battery estimates are up to 10 days for the 41mm and up to 12 days for the 45mm in smartwatch mode. The GPS and weight figures marked with an asterisk are from review and specification coverage rather than the launch announcement. Actual endurance varies with settings and use: always-on display, Pulse Ox, music, notifications, GPS mode, and workout frequency can all reduce battery life. These are maximum estimates, not a promise of a fixed number of days.

For the smaller wrist or a lighter feel, the 41mm trades display area and some battery life for a more compact case. The 45mm has a larger, higher-resolution display and the longer stated smartwatch battery estimate, but it is heavier. TechRadar’s review discusses the size-specific specifications.

How it differs from the Venu 3

The Venu 4 launched about $100 above the Venu 3’s reported launch price of roughly $449.99. The extra cost buys a more extensive metal design, a built-in flashlight, multi-band GPS, ECG support where available, and newer health, sleep, and training software. It also adds lifestyle tools such as Health Status and Lifestyle Logging.

It is not a reason for every Venu 3 owner to upgrade. Review coverage reports that the Venu 4 uses the same Elevate v5 sensor family as the Venu 3, which already offers an AMOLED display, long battery life, calls, music, Garmin Pay, and broad wellness tracking. The Venu 4 is also thicker and heavier, a trade-off worth considering if you wear a watch overnight. The upgrade is most compelling if the flashlight, multi-band GPS, or newer training and trend features matter specifically to you. Android Central’s review covers the price and generation-to-generation differences.

Smartwatch strengths—and important limits

The Venu 4 is best understood as a fitness-first smartwatch. It works with compatible iPhone and Android phones and can show notifications, handle calls when paired with a compatible phone, use voice commands, store music, and make Garmin Pay purchases. Voice-assistant access relies on a paired smartphone. The watch does not have LTE, so its speaker and microphone do not make it an independent cellular phone; many communication features depend on having your phone nearby. Messaging and phone integration are less extensive on iPhone than Apple Watch, and the Venu 4 does not match Apple Watch or Wear OS devices for app and communication depth.

It also lacks full-color onboard maps. Multi-band GPS helps with positioning; it does not turn the watch into a dedicated outdoor navigator. Buyers who need phone-free calling, a deep smartwatch app ecosystem, or map-based expedition navigation should look elsewhere.

Who should buy the Venu 4?

A strong match

  • Garmin users who want a more polished, less rugged-looking watch for work and everyday wear.
  • People who value multi-day battery life alongside fitness, sleep, and recovery tracking.
  • Runners, gym users, cyclists, and general wellness trackers who want broad activity support without choosing a specialist running watch.
  • Android users who want fitness tracking plus calls, notifications, payments, and music in one device.
  • iPhone users who prioritize Garmin’s fitness tools and battery life over Apple Watch’s closer iPhone integration.
  • Anyone who wants a built-in flashlight in a mainstream-style smartwatch.

Look elsewhere if

  • You require LTE or calls without a nearby phone.
  • You need onboard maps, rugged construction, or expedition-focused functions for serious hiking and navigation.
  • You want advanced race-training or triathlon tools; a Garmin Forerunner is generally the more specialized direction.
  • You prefer a traditional smartwatch app and messaging experience; Apple Watch is the closer fit for iPhone users, while Galaxy Watch suits people invested in Samsung and Wear OS services.
  • You want the lightest watch for sleep or the lowest-cost tracker for basic activity and sleep data.

How it compares with other Garmin watches

Watch category Better fit when you want Why the Venu 4 may suit you better
Forerunner Dedicated running, advanced race training, triathlon, and multisport specialization. A more lifestyle-oriented design and a broader everyday smartwatch emphasis.
fēnix or Instinct Outdoor navigation, ruggedness, expedition use, and specialized outdoor profiles. An AMOLED look and a less rugged everyday watch for fitness and indoor activity.

Garmin’s product comparison page lets you check the current differences across its watch range. For non-Garmin alternatives, Apple Watch and Galaxy Watch offer stronger platform integration and smartwatch app experiences, while the Venu 4’s case is its battery life and Garmin fitness ecosystem. It is an alternative for buyers who put those priorities first, not a universal replacement for either platform.
