The 39 mm Hermès Cut Le Temps Suspendu pairs the Cut’s rounded, tonneau-influenced case with a complication that pauses the hour and minute hands on demand while its small seconds continue to run backward. It is a 2025 return of Hermès’ “Time Suspended” idea, now offered in both the Cut and the larger Arceau. The published specifications and prices vary by source and configuration, so the distinctions matter as much as the unusual display.
What does “Time Suspended” do?
A pusher at 8 o’clock controls the display. Press it once and the hour and minute hands move to either side of 12 and stop there, making the time appear to stand still. The small-seconds hand does not stop: according to the Fondation Haute Horlogerie, it sweeps backward through a 24-second cycle, indicating that the mechanism remains active.
Press the pusher again and the hour and minute hands resume, catching up to the current time. The Foundation describes this as the hands instantly catching up with the time that was “suspended.” This is a display complication, not a way to stop the watch’s timekeeping.
How the Cut version fits Hermès’ history
Hermès introduced Le Temps Suspendu in the Arceau line in 2011. The brand’s 2025 Universal Registration Document says the complication returned in two lines: a 42 mm Arceau and this 39 mm Hermès Cut. That makes the Cut a new case expression for a returning mechanism, rather than the first appearance of the complication.

The Cut’s case is described by Monochrome Watches as a “circle within a round” with a tonneau influence. Its launch coverage describes a 5N rose-gold case, a pusher at 8 o’clock, and an integrated rose-gold bracelet, with a rubber strap included. Those are launch-period details; the current official listing for reference W408059WW00 specifies a satin-brushed rose-gold case with polished details, an opaline silver dial and a rose-gold bracelet.
Movement and specifications: why published figures differ
The watch uses Hermès’ automatic H1912 movement with a Time Suspended module. Power reserve and water resistance are not reported consistently, so it is more accurate to keep each figure attached to its source than to treat one as universal.

The available sources do not explain whether the power-reserve gap reflects a specification revision, a difference in measurement or a correction. The figures should therefore remain attributed rather than reconciled by guesswork. Hermès also warns against water contact when wearing its leather-strap watches; that caution is distinct from the specifications for the metal-bracelet reference above.
What one reviewer reported about fit
In a November 2025 hands-on article, Fratello’s Daan de Groot reported that the watch wore more like a 36–37 mm watch on his 17 cm wrist. He measured the sample at 45 mm tip-to-tip and 11.8 mm thick, and described it as comfortable and ergonomic on his wrist. These are one reviewer’s observations on one wrist, not a guarantee of how the watch will fit another wearer.

For a 39 mm watch, the reported compact-feeling wear is a useful indication, but it cannot replace trying the case and bracelet on in person. The Cut’s rounded case shape and integrated bracelet affect its presence as well as its stated diameter.
Current configurations and prices
“The price” depends on the reference and market. Hermès’ current listings show two materially different 39 mm configurations, while the Foundation and Fratello give a separate indicated or reported figure.

These are geographically, configurationally and temporally bounded figures, not a single worldwide price. Confirm the current offer and reference with Hermès in the relevant market before treating any one figure as applicable to a particular purchase.

The Cut Le Temps Suspendu is best understood as a design-led complication watch: its defining appeal is the deliberate, legible act of making the displayed time appear to pause, then watching it catch up. The 39 mm Cut offers that mechanism in a rose-gold case rather than the 42 mm Arceau expression described in Hermès’ 2025 report. Buyers comparing examples should check the precise reference, case and dial, strap or bracelet, and the listing’s own technical specifications; the published figures are not uniform across sources.
