Its 39mm reference (T151.422.36.051.00) is 9.22mm thick, rated to 10 bar and accepts 20mm straps. Tissot also offers a 34mm version, making wrist fit a meaningful choice rather than an afterthought.
What the PRC 100 Solar does differently
Tissot’s Lightmaster system places microscopic, honeycomb-structured solar cells beneath the sapphire crystal. Natural and artificial light passes through the crystal and is converted into energy stored in a rechargeable accumulator, leaving the dial visually unobstructed. The movement is Swiss quartz with a date display, so the watch combines quartz convenience with solar charging instead of a conventional disposable battery.
The seconds hand also acts as a charge warning. When the reserve is low, it advances in four-second intervals—the manufacturer’s End of Energy indication.

How long does it last in the dark?
Swatch Group states that a full charge provides up to 14 months of autonomy in darkness. That is a maximum manufacturer figure, not a promise that every watch will achieve the same duration under every charging history or storage condition.

The same technology description says, “Just 10 minutes of daylight provides 24 hours of battery life.” The example is qualified at a typical 5,000-lux daylight condition, so it should be read as a manufacturer test condition rather than a universal result from ten minutes in any room or on any cloudy day.
Because the accumulator is replenished whenever the dial receives usable light, normal exposure is intended to avoid the routine battery changes associated with ordinary quartz watches. Store the watch in darkness for long periods and check the seconds hand; four-second jumps indicate that the reserve needs replenishing.

39mm or 34mm: which size fits?
The collection includes both 39mm and 34mm cases. The 39mm model gives a contemporary, legible sports-watch presence while remaining relatively compact and only 9.22mm thick. The 34mm version is the better starting point for smaller wrists, lower visual presence or a more traditionally sized watch.
- Choose 39mm if you prefer a stronger wrist presence, larger dial opening and the documented 62g reference.
- Choose 34mm if case diameter is your main fit concern or you want a restrained everyday watch.
Case diameter alone does not determine comfort: lug shape, wrist circumference and bracelet adjustment matter too. Try both sizes where possible, especially because the visual difference between 34mm and 39mm is substantial.

Is 100m water resistance enough for swimming?
The 39mm specification is 10 bar, equivalent to 100m/330ft, and Tissot says its cases undergo water-resistance checks. That makes the rating substantially more capable than splash-only protection for ordinary daily wear.
However, the available model information does not state a specific swimming, snorkeling or diving recommendation. Do not treat the 100m figure as a documented invitation to use this particular reference for those activities. Keep the crown and case in the condition required by Tissot, and have water resistance checked after impacts, opening or service.

Straps and bracelet compatibility
The 39mm watch uses a 20mm lug width. That opens up standard 20mm replacement straps, subject to the case’s end-link shape and the specific attachment hardware. Tissot lists an interchangeable quick-release bracelet option, so changing between a bracelet and a suitable 20mm strap is part of the watch’s practical appeal.
Leather, rubber, fabric and Milanese-style options can change the watch’s comfort and appearance more than the dial does. Confirm both the 20mm width and the seller’s stated compatibility before buying an aftermarket strap; width alone does not guarantee that a fitted end piece will clear the case.

Price and value
Tissot’s US men’s collection currently lists 39mm PRC 100 Solar variants at $515, $550, $575 and $625, depending on configuration. These are current collection prices and can change with finish, strap, market and time.
The value proposition is clearest when you specifically want all of the following in one watch:
- Swiss quartz accuracy and low-maintenance solar charging;
- sapphire crystal rather than mineral glass;
- a 39mm case that is not excessively thick;
- a 10-bar everyday-water-resistance rating;
- standard 20mm strap flexibility; and
- a three-year documented warranty.
If solar charging is not important to you, a conventional quartz watch may offer similar timekeeping for less money. Conversely, avoiding regular battery replacement, combined with sapphire and the compact case, can justify the PRC 100 Solar’s pricing for an everyday wearer.
Independent hands-on perspective
Fratello Watches’ 6 August 2025 hands-on coverage of the 34mm model reports 100m water resistance, highlights the benefit of avoiding routine two-to-three-year battery changes and photographs the solar-cell grid beneath the sapphire. Those observations help explain the collection’s design, but they are not a controlled long-term test of the 39mm reference.
