Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Hautlence’s Retrovision ’64, reference ED50-TI00, is a three-piece mechanical concept watch with a hinged, perforated cover that evokes the Star Trek Communicator. Hautlence describes its inspiration more generally as an iconic communication device from 1960s science fiction; the explicit Star Trek comparison comes from Stuff. It is a watch, not a working communicator, and the available sources do not establish that it is an officially licensed Star Trek product.
What is the Hautlence Retrovision ’64?
Retrovision ’64 is part of Hautlence’s Concepts line, which the brand describes as a space for unconventional ideas. Hautlence calls it the line’s third concept. The official press index lists the model in April 2026, and the product page identifies it as reference ED50-TI00.
The resemblance to the familiar handheld Star Trek Communicator comes from the watch’s flip-open cover and grille-like perforations. Hautlence’s own product description invokes a communication device from 1960s science fiction without naming Star Trek; Chris Smith’s 16 April 2026 Stuff article makes that connection explicitly. Neither source establishes an official Star Trek licence.
How does the watch tell time?
Behind the science-fiction styling is a mechanical display. Hautlence specifies an automatic in-house D50 movement with linear jumping hours and a separate minute dial. Stuff describes the hour indicator ticking over when the minute dial returns to zero; that is a reported description, not a hands-on assessment.

The movement also includes a one-minute flying tourbillon and double hairsprings crafted in-house. Hautlence credits Agenhor with developing the linear jumping-hours display in collaboration with the brand. The D50 comprises 239 components, beats at 3 Hz and has a stated 72-hour power reserve.

What do the size and design mean for wearability?
At 61.2 mm long, 41.8 mm wide and 15.6 mm thick, the titanium case has an unusually large, substantial profile by conventional wristwatch standards. Its proportions and hinged cover prioritize the communicator-like concept over a discreet or familiar watch shape. The rubber strap and titanium case components are specified by Hautlence, but the available sources do not establish how comfortable it is on the wrist in everyday use.
The display is similarly distinctive: linear jumping hours are less familiar than conventional hour and minute hands. That makes the mechanism central to the watch’s appeal, but the supplied specifications do not establish its real-world legibility or timekeeping performance.

Is it an official Star Trek watch?
The sources support describing Retrovision ’64 as Star Trek Communicator-inspired, not as an officially licensed Star Trek watch. Hautlence’s copy refers to a 1960s science-fiction communication device, while the named Star Trek comparison appears in Stuff’s editorial coverage. No reviewed source confirms a licence or a collaboration with the Star Trek rights holder.
Nor is the watch a functioning communications device: its published features are mechanical timekeeping complications, and no communications electronics are specified.
