The Mu:n Orion is a 38 mm moonphase watch series built around a luminous lunar disc and a layered dial inspired by the Artemis II mission and Orion spacecraft. Its specifications depend on the edition: the 2024 launch coverage described an automatic watch 12.5 mm thick, while Mu:n’s current Orion White listing describes a 10.60 mm-thick, hand-wound version.
What is the Mu:n Orion?
Orion is a design-led moonphase watch from Mu:n, developed around the visual challenge of creating a realistic, luminous moon disc. Mu:n’s project history dates the project to late 2023 and credits Swiss workshop AJS Production with production expertise for the disc. The watch’s Artemis II and Orion spacecraft theme is an inspiration and commemoration, not evidence that it is astronaut equipment: Fratello’s 2024 introduction explicitly says it is not a tool watch for astronauts. The reviewed sources do not establish NASA or ESA endorsement.
The 2024 introduction described a multi-layer dial with a textured moon surface, luminous indices, a star disc depicting Orion and neighboring constellations, and a date display. What are the Mu:n Orion specifications?
Do not combine the launch-era automatic specifications with the current Orion White listing: they describe different versions or specification sets. The table separates them by source and date.

Is the Mu:n Orion automatic or hand-wound?
That depends on the version being discussed. Fratello reported the 2024 introduction with a Sellita SW288-1a automatic movement. Mu:n’s current Orion White page instead lists a hand-wound Sellita SW288 variant and a 41-hour reserve. Check the specific edition’s product listing rather than assuming every Orion uses the same winding system.

Sellita’s technical documentation for the SW288-1 describes an automatic movement with a 5.65 mm height, 28,800 vibrations per hour (4 Hz), 38-hour running time, 26 jewels, date and moonphase indicators, manual winding, and a stop-second function. Those are facts for the documented automatic caliber; they should not be transferred to the hand-wound variant listed for Orion White. Sellita SW288-1 technical documentation, February 7, 2020.
How much does the Mu:n Orion cost, and is it available?
Mu:n’s English Orion White listing, observed October 4, 2026, showed a price of €1,540 and a discounted €1,390 pre-order price, both excluding VAT. The page marked the watch “out of stock” and gave December 2026 delivery information. These are listing details on that date, not a guarantee of current stock or delivery.

Mu:n states that its terms include a 24-month warranty, Swiss repair service, and free returns or exchanges within 14 days under stated conditions. Its 5–10-day delivery statement applies to products that are in stock; it does not describe the Orion White listing while that page is marked out of stock. Check the listing and terms before ordering: Mu:n Orion White product page.
For context only, Fratello’s July 2024 article anticipated a Kickstarter price below €1,000 excluding VAT and a later price around €1,350 excluding VAT. Those were launch-era expectations, not today’s listed price.

How did the Orion project develop?
Mu:n’s official project pages describe a substantial 2024 campaign. The company reported 6,000 participants in its summer configurator color vote, followed by 470 backers at the October Kickstarter launch and 800 watches ordered. Mu:n also reported €510,000 in pre-orders over 20 days; that is a company-reported figure, not an independently audited result.

What to check before buying
- Confirm the movement and thickness for the exact edition. The launch-era automatic and current Orion White hand-wound listing do not share one specification set.
- Verify stock, price, taxes, and delivery directly with Mu:n. The Orion White page’s October 4, 2026 status was out of stock, and its delivery information may change.
- Check strap fit by dimensions. The launch-era specification gives 20 mm lug spacing, a useful size category when looking for a strap. It does not prove that a particular third-party strap or bracelet end link will fit; confirm compatibility with the seller.
