What is the Seiko Presage SPB529?
SPB529J1 is the full reference; watch-press headlines often shorten it to SPB529. Seiko positions it within the Presage Classic Series, and its main distinction is the combination of a warm brown dial and a strap made from leather offcuts generated during REGAL shoemaking.
The edition is limited to 3,000 pieces, according to Monochrome, Fratello and Time+Tide. The publications reported an October 2025 launch. Monochrome listed launch prices of EUR 1,120 and USD 1,050, while Time+Tide reported USD 1,050 and A$1,700. Shiracha dial and REGAL strap
A brown dial inspired by Shiracha
The light-brown dial uses a gradient, with the tone described by the coverage as Shiracha (白茶), glossed by Fratello as “white tea.” The articles connect the color inspiration with tea masters and Japanese traditional arts during the Bunsei era, 1818–1830. That is the reported design inspiration, rather than an independently established account of the shade’s historical use.

Leather from shoemaking offcuts
The red-brown or burgundy cow-leather strap is described as using offcuts from REGAL shoe production. It has beige stitching and a three-fold clasp with push-button release; reported strap width is 20 mm. Fratello also lists an additional calfskin strap.

The 20 mm measurement is useful when considering alternatives, but it does not by itself confirm that a generic strap will fit the SPB529’s end shape or work with its clasp. Check those details before buying a replacement.
Case, dimensions and water resistance
The polished stainless-steel case measures 40.2 mm across, 13 mm thick and 46 mm from lug to lug, according to the cited launch coverage. A dual-curved sapphire crystal has an interior anti-reflective coating. Other reported details include a screw-in exhibition case back, fluted crown and a golden-brown or light pink-gold-toned coin-edge-style bezel.

The 46 mm lug-to-lug figure gives a useful point of comparison for wrist fit, but dimensions alone cannot predict how a watch will wear on an individual wrist.
Seiko 6R55 movement and specifications
The SPB529J1 uses Seiko’s 6R55 automatic calibre. The launch articles list a 72-hour power reserve, date display, hand-winding and hacking seconds. The movement runs at 21,600 vibrations per hour (3 Hz) and has 24 jewels.

Monochrome and Time+Tide reported the October 2025 launch and a US price of $1,050. Their reported regional launch prices were EUR 1,120 (Monochrome) and A$1,700 (Time+Tide). These publication reports capture launch pricing; they do not establish what the SPB529J1 costs now or whether it remains available. Fratello’s initial article listed the price as to be announced, consistent with an earlier publication time.
