Seiko’s 2023 Prospex Black Series limited editions pair two divers—the SLA067 and SPB335—with an Alpinist, the SPB337. The SLA067 is the largest and most expensive of the trio in Seiko’s launch catalog; the SPB335 offers a silicone-strap dive-watch alternative, while the SPB337 adds a compass bezel and steel bracelet. All three have black-coated cases and green LumiBrite, but differ in movement, size, construction and launch edition quantity.
How the three Black Series watches differ
| Model | Watch type | Case diameter | Movement | Water resistance | Strap or bracelet | Launch price | Edition size |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|

| SPB335 | Diver | 41.0 mm | Automatic Caliber 6R35 | 200 m diver’s water resistance | Silicone strap | $950 | 4,500 pieces |

Prices, quantities and April 2023 availability are launch-era catalog details, not current offers or proof that any edition remains in stock. The catalog’s prices are in US dollars. Seiko’s 2023 catalog presents the three references as a limited-edition Black Series group.
SLA067: the 1965 Diver-inspired model
The SLA067 is the largest case in this comparison at 41.3 mm. Seiko Hong Kong lists its automatic Caliber 8L35, manual winding, approximately 50 hours of power reserve and 13.1 mm thickness. The case is hard-coated stainless steel, with dual-curved sapphire and LumiBrite on the hands, indices and bezel. It is rated for 200 m diver’s water resistance. Seiko Hong Kong’s SLA067J1 specifications provide these model details.
For the 2023 launch, Seiko specified a Seichu fabric diver’s strap and a worldwide edition of 600 pieces, with April availability and a catalog price of $3,100. That makes it the highest-priced and smallest-run model of the three at launch; neither fact establishes current resale value or scarcity in a particular market.

SPB335: a 6R35 diver on silicone
The SPB335 is a 41.0 mm diver with automatic Caliber 6R35, 200 m diver’s water resistance and a silicone strap. Seiko’s catalog specifies curved sapphire with an inner anti-reflective coating and green LumiBrite. The Seiko Singapore boutique listing for SPB335J1 gives the movement’s approximate 70-hour power reserve and the 200 m rating. Seiko Singapore’s SPB335J1 listing is the source for those boutique specifications.
Its April 2023 catalog launch details were $950 and an edition of 4,500 pieces. Compared with the SLA067, it uses the 6R35 rather than the 8L35 and was listed at a substantially lower launch price; the two are both divers, but their straps and crystal specifications differ.

SPB337: the Alpinist with a compass bezel
The SPB337 is not a diver-style companion to the other two but a Prospex Alpinist. Its 39.5 mm black-coated stainless-steel case is paired with a matching steel bracelet, and the design includes an inner rotating compass bezel, sapphire crystal and magnified date. Seiko lists Caliber 6R35, 200 m water resistance and green LumiBrite.
Seiko’s April 2023 catalog listed the SPB337 at $925, with 5,500 pieces. Its smaller diameter may appeal to someone seeking a more compact case than either diver, while the compass bezel gives it a distinct tool-watch function. The launch price and edition size are historical catalog facts, not evidence of present-day availability or value.

What the Black Series details mean
Seiko’s catalog describes green LumiBrite on all three watches and uses the phrase “Textured dial, hands and markers with new green LumiBrite developed to be brighter and longer-lasting for professional use.” This is Seiko’s product description, not an independent brightness or duration measurement. The shared black-coated styling and green luminous treatment tie the watches together, but their different watch types and hardware are more consequential when choosing among them.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Which reference fits which use?
- Choose the SLA067 if the 1965 Diver reinterpretation, 8L35 movement and Seichu fabric strap are the priorities, and its 41.3 mm case suits your wrist.
- Consider the SPB335 for a 41.0 mm 200 m diver with a silicone strap and the 6R35 movement.
- Consider the SPB337 if you want the Alpinist layout, inner compass bezel and steel bracelet in a 39.5 mm case.
These distinctions identify what Seiko specified at launch; they do not establish how the watches wear on a particular wrist, how they perform in use, or what they cost today.
