There is no universal winner: choose the Longines Spirit Titanium if titanium construction, a pilot-style look and a stated power reserve of up to 72 hours matter most. Choose the TUDOR Black Bay 58 if you want a compact steel diver with a rotating bezel and, in the current burgundy version compared here, 200 m water resistance. Those are recommendations based on published specifications, not a side-by-side wear test.
To make the comparison precise, this article uses Longines reference L3.811.1.53.6, the 42 mm Spirit Titanium, and TUDOR reference M7939A1A0RU-0001, the current 39 mm burgundy Black Bay 58. Longines also offers a 40 mm titanium Spirit, which is closer in nominal diameter to the TUDOR. “BB58” covers multiple references, so specifications for this updated burgundy model should not be assumed to apply to older black- or blue-dial versions.

Choose the Longines for titanium and a pilot-style design
The Spirit Titanium’s clearest distinction is its titanium case and bracelet. That makes it the straightforward choice if you specifically want a titanium watch; the cited Longines page does not give a weight, so there is no supported basis here for quoting grams or claiming a measured comfort advantage.
Its pilot-style design is a different everyday proposition from the TUDOR’s diver layout. The Longines also has the longer stated reserve: up to 72 hours against the burgundy BB58’s 65 hours. This is a manufacturer specification, not a claim about measured running time or comparative accuracy.

Choose the TUDOR for a compact steel diver
The current burgundy BB58 is 39 mm in steel and has a unidirectional rotating bezel. TUDOR lists 200 m water resistance and a 20 mm lug width, giving it the more water-oriented specification on paper. Water-resistance ratings alone do not determine whether a watch is appropriate for a particular activity or whether it is ready for use; follow the manufacturer’s guidance and keep up with relevant maintenance.
The T-fit clasp and five-link bracelet are part of this reference’s specification. The Longines instead pairs a titanium bracelet with a triple-safety folding clasp and push-piece opening. The product pages do not establish which bracelet or clasp feels better on a wearer.

Size is a starting point, not a fit verdict
The cited TUDOR is 39 mm across; the compared Longines is 42 mm. If nominal diameter is your main filter, the separately listed 40 mm titanium Spirit is the closer comparison. That difference does not establish which will sit better on a particular wrist: diameter alone cannot capture the full fit, and the reviewed Longines page does not state case thickness or lug span. Try the exact references on your wrist if fit is decisive.
TUDOR states 11.7 mm thickness and 20 mm lug width for the current burgundy model. Do not substitute measurements from a different BB58 variant: for example, TUDOR’s published 2021 bronze reference has its own specifications, which do not describe the burgundy watch compared here.

On the official US pages reviewed on October 4, 2026, the 42 mm Longines reference was listed at $3,700 and the current burgundy TUDOR at a $5,350 suggested retail price. These model-specific page figures do not establish current transaction prices, prices in other markets, or a broader value or resale verdict.

How to make the final choice
- Start with the design and material: pilot-style titanium points to the Spirit; steel, a diver layout and rotating timing bezel point to the burgundy BB58.
- Confirm the reference: decide whether you mean the Spirit in 40 or 42 mm, and whether the TUDOR is the updated burgundy M7939A1A0RU-0001 or a different BB58 generation or variant.
- Try the exact watches on: the diameter comparison narrows the question but cannot predict fit on your wrist.
- Check the live specification and price pages: manufacturer details and prices may change, and the reviewed US prices should not be generalized to other regions.
