Mercedes-Benz’s Apple Watch app brings selected connected-car controls to the wrist. Depending on market, vehicle and equipment, owners can locate a parked car, view vehicle information, check range or status, and lock or unlock the doors without taking out an iPhone. Mercedes-Benz announced the rollout in Europe on November 21, 2024; the US App Store’s version history records the Apple Watch release in version 3.51.0 on December 12, 2024.
What the Mercedes-Benz Apple Watch app does
The available functions differ by market and vehicle. Mercedes-Benz’s European launch announcement lists these capabilities:
- Locate the parked vehicle.
- Get walking directions to the vehicle.
- Use a compass mode in open areas without map coverage.
- Lock and unlock the vehicle remotely.
- View key vehicle information.
- Check range using the vehicle’s location and battery or fuel level.
- Confirm whether the windows are closed after leaving the car.
Mercedes-Benz USA currently describes the US experience as finding the vehicle on a map, accessing vehicle information, climatizing the vehicle, and locking or unlocking it from Apple Watch. The US App Store’s historical release note specifically highlighted finding the vehicle, viewing vehicle information at a glance, and locking or unlocking doors.
Those descriptions should not be read as a universal feature list. A function can depend on the country, model, model year, connected equipment and the services enabled for that vehicle.

Who can use it?
European launch requirements
For the European launch, Mercedes-Benz specified a Mercedes me account, Mercedes-Benz smartphone app version 1.50.0 or later, an Apple Watch running watchOS 9 or later, and the customer’s own mobile-data volume. These were launch-era requirements and should not be treated as a verified universal checklist for every current region.

US vehicle eligibility
The US App Store listing describes support for model year 2019 and newer vehicles, with select 2018 GLE and C-Class vehicles equipped with the required technology as exceptions. Mercedes-Benz USA gives the same broad qualification on its connected-vehicle page.
Model year alone is not enough. Confirm the exact vehicle, installed connected-car equipment and requested function before assuming that remote locking, climatization or another control will work.

How to check whether your car and watch are supported
- Identify your vehicle’s model, model year and connected-car equipment.
- Check the Mercedes-Benz smartphone app and sign in with the Mercedes me account associated with the vehicle.
- Confirm that the Apple Watch meets the applicable watchOS requirement; the European launch threshold was watchOS 9 or later.
- Compare the functions shown for your vehicle and region rather than relying on a generic feature list.
- If the app does not expose a control, ask Mercedes-Benz or a dealer to verify vehicle-specific service eligibility.
What older mbrace owners need to know
Mercedes-Benz USA states that mbrace connected-vehicle services were terminated as of January 1, 2026. The newer Apple Watch app should not be assumed to restore those services for an older mbrace vehicle. Owners of affected cars need to verify whether their vehicle qualifies for the newer connected-car platform and which functions remain available.
What the Apple Watch adds—and what it does not prove
Mercedes-Benz says it introduced the watch interface in response to customer requests and to let owners interact with the vehicle without taking out a smartphone. That explains the product’s purpose, but the published materials do not provide independent measurements of adoption, convenience, satisfaction or reliability.

The practical benefit is access to supported information and controls from the wrist. It is not a guarantee that every Mercedes-Benz can be controlled, that every region has the same functions, or that watchOS compatibility alone makes a vehicle eligible.

The documented requirements identify watchOS, not a complete current Apple Watch model-by-model compatibility list. The European launch required watchOS 9 or later, while the US materials identify vehicle eligibility but do not publish a full watch-generation matrix. Choose or keep a watch that can run the required software, then verify compatibility in the Mercedes-Benz app for your vehicle and market.
