The Merci Instruments LMM-01 Scientifique is a 38 mm, hand-wound mechanical watch with a clean, instrument-inspired dial. Its current listing specifies a Sellita SW 210-1-b movement, sapphire crystal and 10 ATM water resistance. Merci listed it for €530 on October 5, 2026; price and availability can change.
What the LMM-01 Scientifique is
The Scientifique is a time-only watch: it displays hours, minutes and seconds, with no date. Its Sellita SW 210-1-b is manually wound, and Merci states a 42-hour power reserve. That means the watch needs winding by hand rather than relying on wrist motion to replenish its reserve. These are specifications from Merci’s official product page.
Merci describes the design as inspired by measuring instruments. On the ecru dial, a peripheral minute track and geometric hour markers give the face its instrument-like structure. Old Radium Super-Luminova dots provide the listed luminous markers; Dauphine hour and minute hands and a black seconds hand complete the layout.

How to assess the fit
The listed 38 mm diameter is only one part of how a watch wears. The 47.30 mm lug-to-lug measurement gives a more direct indication of how far it spans the wrist, while the 9.55 mm thickness includes the crystal. Compare both measurements with a watch that already fits comfortably, if possible.
The strap is 19 mm wide and exchangeable. That measurement helps narrow the search for an alternate strap, but width alone does not confirm that a particular strap or attachment will fit; check its attachment details before ordering.

Keep LMM-01 variants and dates distinct
LMM-01 refers to a collection with multiple versions, and older coverage should not be read as the specification sheet for today’s Scientifique listing. In a June 3, 2025 report, Hodinkee covered The Dress Watch, The Numerals, The Militare and The Scientific, noting a shared 38 mm steel case and Sellita SW210-1-b with a 42-hour reserve for that launch. The report listed launch prices of €420 for The Dress Watch and The Numerals, and €390 for The Militare and The Scientific, and described The Scientific as limited edition. Those are historical 2025 launch details, not the current listing’s price or proof of present availability. See Hodinkee’s June 3, 2025 report.
Fratello’s December 24, 2022 hands-on article covered the Everest, Archiwatch and Nationale versions. Its reported details—including crystal, water resistance, straps and price—belong to those earlier variants and should not be transferred to the current Scientifique. The current Merci listing specifies sapphire and 10 ATM. Fratello’s wearing impressions, if consulted, are those of its author, Nacho Conde Garzón, about the versions covered in that dated article: Fratello’s December 24, 2022 story.
