Those are historical U.S. launch MSRPs—not confirmed current prices in August 2026. The Pad 2 paired a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor with a large 144Hz LCD; the Watch 2R offered Wear OS and a two-chip design intended to extend battery life at a lower price than the OnePlus Watch 2.
What OnePlus announced—and when
The July 16, 2024 summer launch event introduced the OnePlus Pad 2 and OnePlus Watch 2R. OnePlus announced the Pad 2 for North America, India, and Europe. In the U.S., the Pad 2 was offered for preorder, with launch coverage reporting shipping beginning around July 30, 2024; the Watch 2R was reported available for purchase at launch. These dates and prices describe the 2024 launch, not present-day availability. OnePlus’s launch announcement and contemporary launch coverage reported U.S. prices of $549 for the tablet and $229 for the watch.
OnePlus Pad 2: a performance-led Android tablet
The Pad 2’s defining specification is Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 platform. Its large 7:5 screen is geared toward browsing, documents, and split-screen use as well as video and games. The panel is LCD, not OLED: its resolution and refresh rate are high, but buyers who prioritize OLED’s contrast and deep blacks should treat that as a meaningful trade-off rather than assume the display technologies are interchangeable.

Multitasking and OnePlus phone integration
OnePlus marketed Open Canvas for multitasking, supporting up to three split-screen apps at once. Multi-Screen Connect features include shared connectivity, clipboard and notification synchronization, App Relay, Content Sync, Auto Connect, and remote file access. Their value depends on having compatible OnePlus hardware and software: OnePlus’s product page specifies compatible phones running OxygenOS 13.1 or later. These are not universal Android features.
AI Eraser 2.0 and Smart Cutout 2.0 are also listed among the tablet’s software features. The Pad 2 may therefore be a more cohesive companion for a OnePlus phone owner than for someone using another Android brand, though the core tablet hardware does not require a OnePlus phone.

Productivity costs and compromises
The OnePlus Smart Keyboard, Stylo 2 stylus, and Folio Case 2 are sold separately. A keyboard-and-stylus setup costs more than the tablet’s launch MSRP, and Android app support, file handling, and multitasking behavior still determine whether it can replace a laptop for a particular workload. A large high-refresh screen and fast processor alone do not make it a full laptop replacement.
The specifications establish Wi-Fi connectivity but do not establish cellular service for the U.S. launch configuration. Buyers who need mobile-network access should verify the exact regional model rather than assume it is available.

OnePlus Watch 2R: Wear OS with a battery-focused design
The Watch 2R is a 47mm Wear OS watch with a 1.43-inch AMOLED display and an architecture that pairs a Snapdragon W5 performance chipset with a BES2700 efficiency chipset. The intended division of labor is to use the lower-power chip for background tasks and the Snapdragon chip for Wear OS and more demanding work. OnePlus says the watch switches between the two according to the task; that dual-engine approach underpins its battery estimates.
| Watch 2R feature | Specification or claim |
|---|---|
| Operating system and chip design | Wear OS by Google; Snapdragon W5 and BES2700 dual-engine architecture |
| Display | 1.43-inch AMOLED with always-on display support |
| Battery | 500mAh, as reported in launch coverage |
| Memory and storage | 2GB RAM and 32GB storage, as reported in launch coverage |
| Case and colors | 47mm case; Forest Green and Gunmetal Gray |
| Location and durability ratings | Dual-frequency L1+L5 GPS; 5ATM water resistance and IP68 rating |
| Weight comparison | OnePlus described it as nearly 25% lighter than the OnePlus Watch 2 |
OnePlus advertises up to 100 hours in Smart Mode, up to 48 hours with intense use, and up to 12 days in Power Saver Mode. These are manufacturer estimates for different modes, not a guarantee of everyday runtime. The company also says a 10-minute charge can provide up to 24 hours of power. GPS use, calls, display settings, health tracking, and third-party apps can affect actual endurance. See the OnePlus Watch 2R product page for the manufacturer’s feature and battery claims.

The 5ATM and IP68 ratings describe test-based water and dust resistance, not unlimited protection in every activity or condition. Buyers should follow OnePlus’s care guidance, particularly around water exposure.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. How the Watch 2R differs from the OnePlus Watch 2
The Watch 2R is best understood as a less expensive, lighter redesign that retains the Watch 2’s broad Wear OS and dual-chip strategy—not as a wholly new platform or a watch proven identical in every internal detail. It uses an aluminum-oriented design, a different exterior, and two standard physical buttons. OnePlus positioned its weight as nearly 25% lower than the Watch 2’s. The Watch 2, by contrast, was presented as the more premium design. The official OnePlus Watch 2 page provides the manufacturer’s product information.

- Immersive 2.8K Display: Features a 12.1-inch screen with a 2.8K resolution, 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, and Dolby Vision support. The 7:5 aspect ratio is designed for comfortable reading and note-taking.
- Long Battery Life: A large 10050mAh battery provides up to 53 hours of music playback or 15 hours of video playback. Standby time can reach up to 60 days, and it supports 33W SUPERVOOC Super Flash Charge for long-lasting battery life and rapid charging.
- Efficient Multitasking & Notes: Open Canvas feature supports up to 3 app windows simultaneously. The Stylo pen (not included) offers a low-latency writing experience with 4,096 pressure levels for natural note-taking and sketching.
- Seamless Cross-Device Sharing: Designed to easily share files and sync content between OnePlus phones, tablets, and other Android/iOS devices using features like Quick Share and App Relay for a connected workflow.
- AI-Powered Productivity Tools: Integrated with OnePlus AI and Google Gemini, offering features like AI Recorder for transcription, AI Summary for articles, and Circle to Search for quick information lookup to help streamline tasks.
| Consideration | Watch 2R | OnePlus Watch 2 |
|---|---|---|
| Platform approach | Wear OS with Snapdragon W5 and BES2700 dual-engine architecture | Wear OS and a dual-chip battery strategy |
| Design and materials | Lighter aluminum-oriented redesign with two standard physical buttons | More premium construction and finish |
| Weight | Nearly 25% lighter than Watch 2, according to OnePlus | Heavier than Watch 2R, according to OnePlus’s comparison |
| U.S. launch price | $229 on July 16, 2024 | Higher-priced predecessor; the comparison sources here do not establish a price for the same launch context |
| Best reason to choose | Lower launch price, lighter design, and long-battery Wear OS proposition | More premium materials and styling |
The available comparison supports those broad distinctions, not a claim that every sensor, fitness feature, or component is identical. The 47mm case also makes fit a practical issue: it may look or feel oversized on smaller wrists.
Launch promotions were temporary
U.S. promotions advertised around the July 2024 launch were separate from MSRP. Launch coverage reported a $50 Pad 2 preorder discount, a free Folio Case 2 valued at $40, and expected shipping around July 30. OnePlus’s summer launch event page also advertised trade-in, bundle, student, app, and Red Cable Club incentives. For the Watch 2R, the event page advertised a guaranteed $20 discount and other limited offers. Those were launch-period promotions, not permanent price reductions.
Who the devices suited best at launch
Pad 2: gaming, media, and multitasking
- Good fit: Android tablet buyers who wanted a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 device, a large high-refresh display, six-speaker audio, or room for split-screen work.
- Especially useful for: OnePlus phone owners who could use the compatible cross-device features.
- Less suitable: Buyers who insist on OLED, need confirmed cellular connectivity, or expect a laptop-style setup without separate accessory costs.
Watch 2R: endurance and Android compatibility
- Good fit: Android users who valued Wear OS, a conventional round watch, dual-frequency GPS, and OnePlus’s manufacturer-rated battery modes.
- Consider carefully: The 47mm case, especially if you have a smaller wrist or prefer a discreet watch.
- Less suitable: iPhone owners, shoppers seeking premium case materials, or anyone requiring cellular independence without first verifying connectivity on the exact model.
What to check before buying in 2026
Both devices launched in 2024, so launch specifications and prices do not by themselves establish whether either is a good purchase in August 2026. OnePlus maintains product and store pages, but the available page information does not confirm a live U.S. transaction price or stock status. Check OnePlus’s U.S. tablet store and its U.S. store directly, then verify the exact listing before ordering.
- Compare the actual selling price with newer alternatives; do not treat $549 or $229 as current prices.
- Confirm whether the item is new, refurbished, or clearance stock, and check warranty and return terms.
- For the Pad 2, verify accessory availability and price if you need the keyboard, stylus, or case.
- For either device, check current software status and remaining support with the seller or manufacturer; a launch-era version does not establish the support runway in 2026.
- Confirm the regional configuration, connectivity, and included charger or accessories before purchase.
The Galaxy Tab S10 FE and Pixel Watch 4 are examples of newer alternatives in their categories, but their availability and pricing are configuration- and date-dependent. If comparing against them, use the relevant current listings: Samsung’s Galaxy Tab S10 FE U.S. buy page and Google’s Pixel Watch 4 page. The Pad 2’s processor and display specifications, or Watch 2R’s battery claims, do not alone settle which is the better 2026 purchase.
