Verdict: The PaMu Z1 Pro remains a feature-rich budget ANC earbud set, but it is a 2021 design whose value now depends on price, stock and software support. At roughly $60–$75 from a seller with a dependable return policy, its ANC, transparency mode, wireless charging, EQ controls and independent-earbud use are appealing. Near its $89 nominal price—or when sold as old or uncertain stock—newer alternatives are safer buys.

Design, fit and comfort
The charging case measures 55 × 45 × 25 mm. Four ear-tip sizes—XS, S, M and L—are supplied, with M fitted initially. Padmate says the shape was developed from data from more than 5,000 ears; that is a design claim, not proof that every ear will find the Z1 Pro comfortable.
A secure in-ear seal matters more here than cosmetic fit. It determines bass, passive isolation and much of the ANC result. Try all four tips, insert both earbuds evenly and reassess noise reduction with music paused. Glasses, hair and jaw movement can break the seal. Touch controls are convenient, but any in-ear earbud can register an accidental tap while being adjusted.
#1 Best Overall
- JBL Deep Bass Sound: Get the most from your mixes with high-quality audio from secure, reliable earbuds with 8mm drivers featuring JBL Deep Bass Sound
- Comfortable fit: The ergonomic, stick-closed design of the JBL Vibe Beam fits so comfortably you may forget you're wearing them. The closed design excludes external sounds, enhancing the bass performance
- Up to 32 (8h + 24h) hours of battery life and speed charging: With 8 hours of battery life in the earbuds and 24 in the case, the JBL Vibe Beam provide all-day audio. When you need more power, you can speed charge an extra two hours in just 10 minutes.
- Hands-free calls with VoiceAware: When you're making hands-free stereo calls on the go, VoiceAware lets you balance how much of your own voice you hear while talking with others
- Water and dust resistant: From the beach to the bike trail, the IP54-certified earbuds and IPX2 charging case are water and dust resistant for all-day experiences
Who will find the fit suitable?
- Commuters and office listeners who want a conventional sealed in-ear design.
- People willing to spend time choosing a tip size rather than expecting a universal fit.
- Users who value a compact case and wireless charging more than an ultra-small earbud.
Sound quality and EQ
The Z1 Pro uses a 10 mm PEN and titanium composite driver. That tells you about construction, not whether the tuning is excellent. The PaMu app offers six presets: normal, pop, rock, jazz, classical and vocal.
In practical use, judge the default balance first. Bass should have enough weight for electronic music without masking vocals; podcasts depend on a clear midrange; treble should reveal detail without becoming sharp. Compare ANC on and off, because processing can change perceived bass and overall balance. The presets are useful if one matches your taste, but they are not a substitute for measured frequency-response performance. Retailer descriptions calling the sound “Hi-Fi” are marketing language, not an objective certification.
ANC, transparency and call noise reduction
What the claims mean
Padmate advertises noise reduction of up to 40 dB, while another official description places ANC operation around 20–2,000 Hz. Those are manufacturer claims, not universal real-world attenuation figures. Results vary with seal, frequency, fit, volume and test method. ANC is most useful against steady low-frequency sounds such as train engines, aircraft rumble and HVAC systems; it will not erase speech or sudden noises.

- EXTENDED BATTERY LIFE — Get up to 8 hours of listening time with Active Noise Cancellation on a single charge. Or up to 10 hours in Transparency using the Hearing Aid feature.*
Environmental noise cancellation (ENC) is different: it is intended to improve microphone capture during calls. Transparency mode feeds outside sound back to you so you can hear announcements or conversation without removing the earbuds. Available coverage confirms three broad modes—ANC on, off and transparency—but does not establish a laboratory attenuation result or adjustable ANC-strength control. See Padmate’s mode and control documentation at the official support page.
What to check before buying
- Whether low-frequency rumble is reduced enough for your commute.
- Whether ANC introduces audible hiss or changes the tonal balance.
- Whether transparency sounds natural or noticeably processed.
- Whether mode switching can be done from the earbuds without opening the app.
Calls
Padmate design material describes dual-microphone call noise reduction and six microphones. Those are hardware and marketing claims, not a guarantee of clear speech outdoors. Wind, traffic and cafés are the difficult cases; test them during the return window. The product supports independent left or right earbud use, which is useful for short calls and awareness.
Battery life and charging
Advertised endurance is up to six hours from the earbuds and about 24 hours including the case. Retailer specifications list roughly two hours to charge the case. The case accepts USB-C and supports wireless charging.

- Powerful Bass: soundcore P20i true wireless earbuds have oversized 10mm drivers that deliver powerful sound with boosted bass so you can lose yourself in your favorite songs.
- Personalized Listening Experience: Use the soundcore app to customize the controls and choose from 22 EQ presets. With "Find My Earbuds", a lost earbud can emit noise to help you locate it.
- Long Playtime, Fast Charging: Get 10 hours of battery life on a single charge with a case that extends it to 30 hours. If P20i true wireless earbuds are low on power, a quick 10-minute charge will give you 2 hours of playtime.
- Portable On-the-Go Design: soundcore P20i true wireless earbuds and the charging case are compact and lightweight with a lanyard attached. It's small enough to slip in your pocket, or clip on your bag or keys–so you never worry about space.
- AI-Enhanced Clear Calls: 2 built-in mics and an AI algorithm work together to pick up your voice so that you never have to shout over the phone.
These figures depend on volume, ANC, codec, temperature, calls and battery age. An honest test should state codec, volume, ANC setting and whether playback ran from 100% to automatic shutdown. Because the Z1 Pro dates from 2021, unopened old inventory may have less lithium-ion capacity than a fresh unit. A current seller, warranty and return period matter more than a small additional discount.
PaMu app, controls and firmware
The app provides six EQ modes, customizable button functions, gaming mode, ANC prompt-voice settings and firmware upgrades. This makes the app part of the product rather than an optional extra. Padmate’s official page says Windows is not supported; the iOS listing identifies an iPhone app. Basic Bluetooth audio may work with Android, but verify current Android app availability and device recognition before the return period ends. User reviews on the UK App Store report setup and device-discovery problems; these are anecdotal, not proof of a universal fault. See the UK App Store listing and the Canadian listing.

Gaming mode and connectivity
Gaming mode is intended to reduce delay, but no verified millisecond measurement is available. Latency still depends on the phone, game, codec and operating system. It may help casual games and video, while rhythm games remain the strictest test. Compare mode on and off for sound quality and connection stability.
Bluetooth 5.2 does not guarantee better range or stability by itself. The available material does not verify multipoint connectivity, and aptX support should not be assumed from design references; confirm the codec on the exact retail unit and firmware. Android and iOS Bluetooth audio compatibility should be separated from app compatibility.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Durability and water resistance
The listed IPX4 rating means resistance to splashes and ordinary sweat. It does not mean waterproofing: do not swim or shower with the earbuds, immerse the case or charge wet hardware. IPX4 also cannot protect against drops, corrosion or a damaged seal. The rating is listed by the retailer specification; check the packaging for your regional unit.

Common problems and recovery
Pairing or one-earbud failure
- Return both earbuds to the case and confirm they have charge.
- Forget the PaMu Bluetooth entry.
- Toggle Bluetooth off and on.
- Remove both earbuds and pair again through phone settings.
- Reopen the app after Bluetooth pairing succeeds.
- Test each earbud independently.
Padmate’s available support material does not provide a complete model-specific factory-reset sequence, so do not rely on an unverified reset combination.
Poor ANC
Try every tip size, reseat the earbuds and compare with music paused. A poor seal, movement, hair or glasses can matter more than the advertised 40 dB figure.
App unavailable
Install the app and confirm that it recognizes the Z1 Pro immediately after purchase. EQ, controls, gaming mode and firmware management depend on it, so an old phone listing or discontinued server reduces the practical feature set.

The PaMu Z1 Pro still offers an unusually broad budget feature set: ANC, transparency, wireless charging, independent-earbud operation, six EQ presets and a gaming mode. Its weaknesses are equally current: a 2021 product cycle, uncertain stock, app dependence, no verified multipoint evidence and battery-aging risk in old inventory. Buy it only at a deep discount from a seller that will accept a return. At the nominal $89 level, choose a newer, better-supported model unless the Z1 Pro’s wireless charging and specific feature mix are exactly what you need.
