The Pixel Watch Find My Device feature once described as “coming soon” is no longer just a rumor: Google now documents adding a Pixel Watch to Find Hub, finding it from a phone or browser, and checking its last known location. The important caveat is that offline finding is not a promise of continuous live tracking—what you can see depends on setup, connection, model, and whether the watch can report a location.
What the 2024 report found—and what it didn’t prove
On July 17, 2024, 9to5Google reported that Pixel Watch app version 2.5.0.652251118 contained strings for a planned “Find My Watch” setting. The text described remotely locating, locking, and erasing a watch, including when it was offline. That was evidence of a feature under consideration, not confirmation that Google had released it. (9to5Google’s 2024 report.)
Google’s current Pixel Watch help documentation now explains how to add a watch to Find Hub and locate it. Google’s current name for the service is Find Hub; older reports and some interfaces may still use “Find My Device.” The feature is more than the old watch-to-phone ringing shortcut, but “full support” should not be read as guaranteed live location in every situation.
What you can expect in each situation
| Situation | What Find Hub can offer |
|---|---|
| Watch is nearby and connected to the phone | You can ask it to ring. Google says it starts quietly and gets louder over about 20 seconds. |
| Watch is disconnected after being paired or reporting a location | Find Hub may show its last known location. That point may not be current or exact. |
| Offline finding is configured and network participation is available | Nearby Android devices may help report the watch’s location through Find Hub’s crowdsourced network. |
| Watch is powered off or its battery is empty | Do not assume Pixel-phone-style powered-off tracking. Google’s watch documentation does not establish that behavior for Pixel Watch. |
| Watch is remotely erased | Its data is deleted, and its location is no longer available in Find Hub. |
Google’s Pixel Watch instructions distinguish a current location in connected circumstances from a last known location when the watch is disconnected. Network-assisted finding can help when the watch is no longer connected to your phone, but it is not equivalent to a continuous GPS connection or a guaranteed live position. Set up Find Hub before you lose the watch
Enroll from the paired phone
- Pair the watch with a compatible Android phone. Turn on Location and Bluetooth on the phone.
- On a non-Pixel phone, open the Google Pixel Watch app and tap Find device, then Find when disconnected. Follow the prompts to add the watch to the Android Find Hub network.
- On a Pixel phone, the documented route is Settings → Connected devices → [paired Pixel Watch]. Follow the Find Hub setup prompts shown there.
Enable Find Hub and Location on the watch
- Wake the display and swipe down.
- Open Settings → Security → Device Administration and turn on Find Hub.
- Check that Location is on at Settings → Location.
Check the offline-finding network setting
Google specifically says Pixel Watch 3 must be set up to participate in the Android Find Hub network. On the phone, open Settings → Google → Find Hub → Find your offline devices and choose an available network option, such as With network in high-traffic areas only or With network in all areas. The exact choices shown can vary. Google’s public instructions do not provide a complete feature-by-feature compatibility matrix for every Pixel Watch generation and software build, so do not assume identical behavior across all models. (Google: Be ready to find a lost Wear OS watch.)
Find a misplaced Pixel Watch
If it is nearby and connected
- Open the Pixel Watch app on the paired phone.
- Tap Find device and use the ring function.
- Listen for the watch: Google says the sound begins at low volume and grows louder over approximately 20 seconds. Mute it from the Find Device screen or by leaving that screen.
Ringing requires the watch to be nearby and connected to the phone; it is not the way to locate a watch that is offline.

If it is disconnected
- In the Pixel Watch app, tap System → Find device.
- Tap Last known location to open Find Hub.
- Select the Pixel Watch in the device list and review the location and available actions.
A last-known location indicates where the watch was last connected or reported; it may be stale. You can also open the Find Hub app on another Android phone or visit Google’s Find Hub web interface, then sign in with the Google Account associated with the watch.
Know which Find Hub feature you are using
- Find My Phone from the watch: A shortcut for ringing a nearby phone. It finds the phone, not the watch.
- Find Hub on the watch: Google documents a Wear OS app for finding connected devices and compatible items. Depending on the device or item, it can offer actions such as playing a sound, marking an item as lost, viewing a map, getting directions, or factory-resetting a supported device. (Google: Use your watch to find your devices and items.)
- Finding the watch: Use the paired phone’s Pixel Watch app, Find Hub on another device, or the web interface to locate the watch itself.
- Offline-network participation: When configured and available, nearby Android devices may help report a disconnected watch’s location. This is network-assisted finding, not a guarantee of live tracking.
Google says Find Hub uses encrypted recent locations and end-to-end encrypted location information in its crowdsourced network. Encryption protects location reporting; it does not mean a lost watch has a continuous GPS connection. (Google: How Find Hub protects your data.)

Model, account, and connection requirements
Google lists these minimum Android phone versions for using its Pixel Watch finding instructions:
| Watch model | Minimum Android version on paired phone |
|---|---|
| Pixel Watch | Android 8.0 or newer |
| Pixel Watch 2 | Android 9.0 or newer |
| Pixel Watch 3 | Android 10.0 or newer |
The watch must be paired with a compatible Android phone, and the user must be its owner. Google’s general Wear OS guidance also calls for signing in to a Google Account, enabling Location, having connected to the phone recently over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, and installing the latest available watch OS update. Requirements and available functions may differ by model, software, region, or edition; Google’s cited help pages do not establish a complete generation-by-generation feature matrix.
Rank #4
- Google Pixel Watch has a beautiful circular, domed design and new experience with Wear OS by Google, so it’s easy to get help at a glance
- Stay on top of activity, calories burned, and more with Fitbit activity tracking
- Track your heart rate and get insight into your sleep
- Save time with things like Google Wallet for contactless payments, turn-by-turn directions using Maps, and event notifications from Calendar
- Stay connected and productive wherever you go; respond to messages, manage your inbox, and make calls right from your wrist
If the watch was bought second-hand, ownership may need to be transferred properly. A reset and re-pairing may be needed before it appears as expected in the new owner’s Find Hub account. (Google: Find your Pixel Watch; Google: Be ready to find a lost Wear OS watch.)

Finding, marking lost, and erasing are different actions. Use a ring or location view to recover a nearby watch; consider stronger security measures if you believe it has been stolen. Remote erase is a last resort: it permanently deletes device data, removes location access in Find Hub, and device protection may require the owner’s Google Account password before the watch can be used again. (Google: Find, secure, or erase a lost Android device.)

For routine recovery, the practical order is to ring a connected watch, check Find Hub’s last known location if it is disconnected, and use security actions only when appropriate. If a watch is dead or cannot report through a participating device, the documented feature set does not guarantee a new location.
