The November 12–13, 2024 Pixel Watch update resumed Google’s paused Wear OS 5 rollout for the original Pixel Watch and Pixel Watch 2. Pixel Watch 3 received the same package mainly as a security and bug-fix release because it launched with Wear OS 5. The global build was AW2A.241105.012 (or AW2A.241105.013 for France Orange LTE models), with the November 5, 2024 security patch. You can prompt another check from Settings → System → System updates, but no method bypasses Google’s phased rollout.
What the November 2024 update actually delivered
Google announced the rollout on November 12, 2024, with availability expanding over approximately one week according to carrier and device. The official announcement is recorded at Google’s Pixel Watch support forum.
| Model | What the package included | Build context |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel Watch (first generation) | Resumed Wear OS 5 upgrade, bug fixes, performance improvements, security updates and related Play Store updates. | AW2A.241105.012 globally; regional or carrier variants can differ. |
| Pixel Watch 2 | Resumed Wear OS 5 upgrade, bug fixes, performance improvements, security updates and related Play Store updates. | AW2A.241105.012 globally; regional or carrier variants can differ. |
| Pixel Watch 3 | Security updates and bug fixes. It was not receiving Wear OS 5 for the first time because it already shipped with that platform. | AW2A.241105.012 globally; regional or carrier variants can differ. |
Google’s changelog also listed Play Store component updates, including improvements related to camera controls and Pixel Recorder. Wear OS 5 is based on Android 14/API 34 and introduced platform changes such as a denser app-selection screen and updated Watch Face Format support; see the Wear OS 5 overview and behavior changes.
Why Google resumed the rollout
The September 2024 Wear OS 5 rollout for the first- and second-generation watches was paused after reports of installation failures, including blank screens and soft-bricked devices. November was therefore a resumed rollout, not proof that every owner would receive an identical package or that every earlier failure mode had been eliminated. Coverage from 9to5Google and Android Central documented that context.

Check your watch’s current software
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Tap System, then System updates.
- Note the displayed software version or build and the security-update date.
A November 2024 target normally showed build AW2A.241105.012 and the November 5, 2024 security patch. In France, Pixel Watch LTE models on Orange used AW2A.241105.013; other French models used .012. A different, newer build means the watch has already moved beyond this historical package.
How to prompt another OTA check
The following workaround was reported during the rollout. It can make the watch check again; it cannot override eligibility, carrier scheduling or regional availability.

- Place the watch on its charger.
- Open Settings → System → System updates.
- If the screen says “Your watch is up to date,” repeatedly tap the watch icon or status area at the top.
- Wait for a check or download prompt to appear.
- If nothing changes, open Settings → Connectivity preferences and temporarily turn Bluetooth off, leaving Wi‑Fi enabled.
- Return to System updates and try again over Wi‑Fi.
- Restore Bluetooth after the check or download starts, unless the watch specifically requires Wi‑Fi to continue.
Turning Bluetooth off can briefly interrupt phone connectivity. The repeated-tap and Wi‑Fi method was practical rollout advice reported by 9to5Google, not an official guarantee of immediate delivery.
What happens once installation starts
- The watch downloads the package and may require that it remain on the charger.
- Installation can take time and may include one or more restarts.
- Afterward, re-open System updates to verify the build and security-patch date.
- Check the companion Pixel Watch app and Google Play Store for pending watch-app updates.
No universal download size, battery percentage or installation time was specified for every model, so treat any figure posted for one device as model-specific.

If the update still does not appear
The rollout has not reached your channel
Google expanded availability in phases over roughly a week, based on carrier and device. A “up to date” message could simply mean the package was not yet offered to that watch.
The watch is checking through the wrong connection
Connect to a stable Wi‑Fi network, place the watch on its charger, temporarily disable Bluetooth and retry the update screen.

- Google Pixel Watch has a beautiful circular, domed design and new experience with Wear OS by Google, so it’s easy to get help at a glance
- Stay on top of activity, calories burned, and more with Fitbit activity tracking

The watch is already on a newer or different build
Compare the displayed build and patch date before treating the absence of AW2A.241105.012 as a problem. LTE and regional channels can use different builds or timing.
The download stalls
- Keep the watch charging and within range of the Wi‑Fi network.
- Keep the phone nearby during the initial process.
- Do not repeatedly reboot or interrupt installation.
- If the watch reports a storage error, remove unneeded content; Google did not publish one universal storage requirement for this package.
The watch becomes blank or unresponsive
Do not flash a random recovery image or repeatedly interrupt the process. Because the earlier rollout produced reported soft-brick and blank-screen cases, use Google’s support channel or an authorized repair route.

Should you manually install a Pixel Watch OTA?
Google publishes official Pixel Watch OTA images at developers.google.com/android/ota-watch. Those files are intended for technically capable users who can identify the exact model, region, build path and recovery procedure. For normal owners, the built-in update screen is safer. Do not download an unofficial image, guess at compatibility or factory-reset the watch merely because a staged OTA is not visible.
Why this article is historical in 2026
The November 2024 package is not the newest Pixel Watch software. Google later released Wear OS 5.1 for supported models in March 2025, with model- and carrier-specific timing; the platform documentation is at Android Developers. Later support notices also addressed users who remained on the November release. If you are troubleshooting a watch today, use its current build and Google’s latest update guidance rather than expecting the 2024 package to be offered again.
The Bottom Line
Pixel Watch 1 and 2 owners were the users who gained Wear OS 5 from the November 2024 resumed rollout; Pixel Watch 3 owners received maintenance fixes. Put the watch on its charger, check Settings → System → System updates, and try the Wi‑Fi/Bluetooth workaround if needed—but wait for the phased rollout instead of factory-resetting or flashing an unverified OTA.
