What is the RM 65-01 McLaren W1?
It is a specific Richard Mille and McLaren collaboration model, not a McLaren-made watch. Richard Mille describes it as inspired by the W1, while McLaren identifies it as the fourth creation to emerge from the partnership. The Foundation Haute Horlogerie also describes it as the fourth collaboration model. McLaren’s partnership page and the Foundation Haute Horlogerie entry corroborate that context.
Richard Mille’s official product page calls the watch an expression of inventiveness inspired by the W1. That is the manufacturer’s description, rather than an independent assessment. The technical details below are likewise manufacturer-published specifications. Richard Mille’s product page is the primary source for them.
How many were made?
Richard Mille states that production is limited to 500 pieces. The Foundation Haute Horlogerie also reports a 500-piece edition. That edition figure does not establish how many watches remain available or whether any are currently for sale.

What movement and functions does it have?
The watch uses the RMAC4, a skeletonised automatic winding movement. Richard Mille lists a frequency of 36,000 vibrations per hour (5 Hz), 51 jewels and approximately 60 hours of power reserve. The brand notes that actual reserve depends on use of the chronograph, so the stated figure should not be read as a guaranteed result for every wearer.

Richard Mille says the balance can measure to one tenth of a second. This is a manufacturer statement, not an independently reported test result.
Selector, rapid winding and rotor
A function selector switches between winding, date-setting and hand-setting modes. A hand at 4 o’clock indicates the selected mode with W, D or H. The rapid-winding mechanism is operated by a pusher and is intended to rearm the barrel after the watch has stopped. The variable-geometry rotor can be adjusted to adapt winding to the wearer’s activity, according to Richard Mille.

What are the case materials and dimensions?
The tripartite case is made from Carbon TPT, with a bezel combining Carbon TPT and grade 5 titanium. The pusher protectors are grade 5 titanium, and the grade 5 titanium crown has a papaya-orange rubber coating. Richard Mille specifies water resistance to 50 metres.
The RMAC4 baseplate and bridges are also grade 5 titanium. Richard Mille describes Carbon TPT as layers of carbon filaments impregnated with resin, with the weave direction shifted between layers. Its product page also makes claims about the material’s resistance to breaking stress and micro-cracks; those are manufacturer claims, not independent findings.
