The clip appeared to show a gold-colored ring, but Samsung never confirmed whether its inclusion was an accidental leak or a deliberate teaser.
What appeared in the video
The appearance came in Samsung’s Olympic “Voices of Galaxy” campaign, which featured Dutch middle- and long-distance runner Sifan Hassan. Contemporary reports identified a ring-shaped wearable visible only briefly in the promotional footage. Android Headlines reported the appearance on July 5, 2024, while Android Authority described Samsung as possibly having “forgotten” the ring in the video.
The footage supports only a limited conclusion: viewers could see the Galaxy Ring’s general physical form and what looked like a gold finish. It did not establish the ring’s price, sensors, battery life, sizes, compatibility or release date. Android Headlines’ report and Android Authority’s coverage treated the moment as a possible early reveal, not confirmed evidence of Samsung’s intent.
Was it really an accidental leak?
Not definitively. The ring had not yet been formally launched, so its brief appearance looked like a marketing slip. However, Samsung did not say that an editing error or accidental placement had occurred. The company could also have intended the shot as a controlled teaser before Unpacked.

The safest description is that Samsung either allowed or failed to prevent an early official glimpse. Calling it a confirmed accidental leak goes beyond the evidence.
The Galaxy Ring was already publicly known
This was an early look at the physical product, not the first disclosure that Samsung was making a smart ring. Samsung had teased the Galaxy Ring at its January 2024 Galaxy S24 event and displayed a design model at Mobile World Congress. The Olympic video therefore added a momentary product view shortly before launch rather than revealing an entirely unexpected category.

What Samsung announced five days later
Samsung formally unveiled the Galaxy Ring at its July 10, 2024 Galaxy Unpacked event. In the United States, preorders opened that day at a starting price of $399.99, and general availability began July 24, 2024. Samsung announced distribution through Samsung.com, Samsung Experience Stores, Amazon, AT&T and Best Buy. The U.S. launch announcement contains those dates and retailer details.
Launch-era hardware details
Samsung’s launch materials described a titanium ring in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold. The initial published range was sizes 5 through 13, with weight varying from approximately 2.3 to 3.0 grams by size. Samsung claimed up to seven days of battery life, supplied a charging case, and rated the ring for 10 ATM water resistance and IP68 protection. Its health hardware included an accelerometer, photoplethysmography and skin-temperature sensing. These are manufacturer specifications and were not visible in the Olympic clip. See Samsung’s launch unboxing for the published specifications.

Later Samsung U.S. listings show some configurations extending to size 15, so the size 5–13 figure should be understood as the launch-era range, not necessarily the complete current selection.

Ecosystem context
The Galaxy Ring was positioned as part of Samsung Health and the wider Galaxy ecosystem, working alongside compatible Android phones and Galaxy Watches. Compatibility is not automatically identical across every Android handset: features such as device-based controls and advanced health functions can depend on the phone, Samsung Health version and Galaxy hardware. Check Samsung’s current support information for the exact phone and feature combination before buying.

Samsung’s official product introduction is available at Samsung’s Galaxy Ring video. That July 10 video is the formal product presentation, not necessarily the earlier Olympic campaign clip.
Bottom line
The July 5, 2024 “Voices of Galaxy” video gave viewers a fleeting, likely gold-colored look at the Galaxy Ring just before Samsung’s July 10 unveiling. It was a possible leak or intentional teaser, but Samsung never confirmed which. The substantive facts—price, availability, colors, sizing and specifications—arrived at Unpacked, with U.S. sales beginning July 24, 2024.
