Samsung announced the Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy Ring, Galaxy Watch7, Galaxy Watch Ultra, Galaxy Buds3 and Galaxy Buds3 Pro at its Paris Galaxy Unpacked event on July 10, 2024. U.S. sales began July 24. For watch and wearable buyers, the biggest news was Samsung’s first smart ring and its new premium Watch Ultra alongside a refreshed mainstream smartwatch—not just the two foldable phones.
This is a historical launch guide, not a list of the latest Samsung devices. Prices below are U.S. launch prices from July 2024; they are not verified current prices or availability as of September 2026.
What Samsung announced and what it cost at U.S. launch
The announcement brought together seven products. Samsung presented them as a connected Galaxy lineup for communication, productivity and health tracking. The table gives each product’s main role and U.S. launch price; all seven became generally available in the United States on July 24, 2024.

These are U.S. launch prices, not current retail quotes. Samsung’s December 2024 U.S. MSRP sheet lists the Fold6 at $1,899.99 for 256GB and $2,019.99 for 512GB, and the Flip6 at $1,099.99 for 256GB and $1,219.99 for 512GB. Galaxy Ring: Samsung’s smallest wearable
The Galaxy Ring was Samsung’s first ring-shaped wearable, aimed at people who want sleep and wellness tracking without wearing a watch. It launched in Titanium Black, Titanium Silver and Titanium Gold, in nine sizes from 5 through 13. Depending on size, Samsung lists its weight at approximately 2.3–3.0 grams; the ring is 7.0mm wide and 2.6mm thick.
What it tracks and how it is built
Samsung lists an accelerometer, optical PPG sensor and skin-temperature sensor. The Ring has BLE 5.4 connectivity, IP68 and 10ATM ratings, and a manufacturer-rated battery life of up to seven days. Battery life is a Samsung figure, not a guarantee for every size or pattern of use. Features promoted at launch included sleep analysis, skin-temperature tracking and Energy Score. Those outputs are wellness indicators, not clinical diagnoses or treatment guidance.
Compatibility and fit matter
Samsung specified Android 11 or later and a connected phone with more than 1.5GB of memory for compatibility. Some features need a compatible Galaxy phone and Samsung account. The right size is essential, so this is not an accessory to choose by guesswork. Ring gestures require a connected phone running One UI 6.1.1 or later; Samsung also says Ring gestures may not work when gestures on a Galaxy Watch are active. Its support documentation details those feature and pairing conditions.

Samsung says pairing the Ring with a Galaxy Watch can extend Ring battery life by up to 30%. That is a manufacturer claim, not an independently established result. The Ring is best understood as a discreet companion for passive tracking, not a replacement for a smartwatch’s screen, notifications and interactive functions.
Galaxy Watch7 and Watch Ultra: everyday watch versus outdoor flagship
Both watches brought Samsung’s updated health and fitness features into the 2024 lineup. Samsung positioned Watch7 as the everyday option and Watch Ultra as a more rugged, larger premium model. Both were among the first Android smartwatches using Wear OS 5, according to Samsung.

Samsung highlighted sleep tracking, Energy Score and AGEs Index monitoring across the new health lineup. AGEs Index and other watch health readings should be treated as consumer wellness information, not medical diagnosis. Samsung’s U.S. availability notice also sets out health-use limitations.

Which watch suits which wearer?
- Watch7: the more natural fit for general smartwatch, notification, health and fitness use, particularly if you do not need the Ultra’s larger outdoor-focused design.
- Watch Ultra: consider it if you specifically want the 47mm case, titanium construction, LTE and outdoor-oriented features such as dual-frequency GPS. Its size and launch price make it a poor match for buyers seeking a smaller or lower-cost watch.
Fold6 and Flip6: the phones anchoring the ecosystem
Galaxy Z Fold6
The Fold6 paired a 6.3-inch cover screen with a 7.6-inch QXGA+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X interior display. Both displays support adaptive 1–120Hz refresh rates. Samsung said the phone was slimmer and lighter than earlier Z-series devices, and described changes to the main display layers intended to improve durability and reduce the visible crease.
Its large interior screen is the point: it is suited to multitasking, reading, document work, media and other tasks that benefit from a tablet-like canvas. Samsung built Galaxy AI productivity and writing features around that screen. The U.S. starting price was $1,899.99 for 256GB, making it a premium purchase whose value depends on whether the larger display fits a buyer’s regular use. Galaxy Z Flip6
The Flip6 has a 6.7-inch interior display and a 3.4-inch FlexWindow cover screen. Samsung introduced a larger vapor chamber to the Flip line, touted longer battery life than the previous generation, and positioned its camera system as offering an experience comparable to Galaxy S24. Those are Samsung’s launch claims, not independent test results. FlexWindow and FlexMode support quick interactions and hands-free camera framing, while AI features include suggested replies and personalization tools.

At launch, the Flip6 started at $1,099.99 for 256GB. Its appeal is compactness and the partly closed-phone experience rather than Fold-style multitasking. Suggested replies and other AI features can depend on language, network, account status and compatible apps.

Samsung gave both earbuds a new blade-style design and offered them in Silver and White. The Buds3 uses an open-type fit; the Buds3 Pro uses a canal-type fit. That design difference is the key practical choice: Buds3 may suit listeners who prefer an open fit and environmental awareness, while the Pro’s in-ear seal is for those who want a more isolating fit. This is a design-based distinction, not a claim of independently tested sound quality.
U.S. launch prices were $179.99 for Buds3 and $249.99 for Buds3 Pro. Samsung promoted high-resolution audio, call improvements, automatic ambient-sound behavior, voice controls and AI-assisted communication. Availability of particular AI functions depends on compatible Galaxy devices and other feature requirements.

How the Galaxy wearable ecosystem connects
The strongest cross-device experience was designed for Galaxy phone owners. Setup can involve Galaxy Wearable, Samsung Health and, for some advanced health functions, Samsung Health Monitor. Users may need Google and Samsung accounts, app downloads, permissions and a network connection, depending on the feature.
Pair a watch or Ring with a Galaxy phone
- Open the Galaxy Wearable app and tap Start.
- Select or confirm the device, then verify the displayed numbers if prompted.
- Sign into a Google account when requested and accept the relevant permissions.
- Download any required companion apps, then finish setup and open the wearable’s Home screen. Allow backups or Smart Switch permissions only if you want those functions.
Samsung’s documented pairing flow is available in its Galaxy wearable support guide. Advanced watch and health features have additional requirements: Samsung specifies a compatible Galaxy phone running Android 11 or later with at least 2GB of RAM, plus Samsung Health Monitor version 6.22 or later for several functions. Compatibility is feature-specific; non-Samsung Android users may not get the full set of integrations.
Where Galaxy AI and health claims need context
Samsung’s launch materials covered writing assistance, translation and communication, photo editing, Buds-assisted interpretation, and health summaries or guidance. These are not universal, stand-alone capabilities: availability can vary by language, app, network connection, account status, downloaded language packs and device model. Some AI functions require internet access, and generated results are not guaranteed to be accurate. Samsung said some Galaxy AI features would be free on supported devices only through the end of 2025; that launch-era statement does not establish the terms that apply in 2026.
Likewise, Energy Score, sleep analysis, heart-rate features and AGEs Index are wellness and fitness features. They should not be used as substitutes for clinical monitoring, diagnosis or treatment. Samsung’s U.S. launch availability notice includes the associated feature and health qualifications.

- Choose Fold6 if the large interior screen would materially improve multitasking, reading or document work and you accept its high historical launch price and the added complexity of a foldable design.
- Choose Flip6 if compactness, the FlexWindow and the foldable form are more important than a tablet-like screen.
- Choose Galaxy Ring if discreet sleep and passive wellness tracking are your priority, you have a compatible Android phone and you can get the correct ring size.
- Choose Watch7 for general smartwatch and health features without paying for the Ultra’s larger outdoor-oriented design.
- Choose Watch Ultra if its 47mm size, GPS, LTE and premium outdoor positioning match your needs; avoid it if you prefer a small watch or lower launch cost.
- Choose Buds3 or Buds3 Pro based first on whether you prefer an open or canal-style fit, then on the Galaxy-specific features you will actually use.
Foldables also differ from conventional phones in construction: the hinge and flexible display make protection, screen-care decisions, warranty coverage and potential repair costs worth checking separately. The launch information does not establish a failure rate or a quantified durability advantage. Samsung’s launch promotions—such as trade-in offers, storage upgrades and bundles—were limited-time offers, not ongoing prices or benefits.
