Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025 took place in Brooklyn on July 9, 2025. The event introduced the Galaxy Z Fold7, Galaxy Z Flip7, Galaxy Z Flip7 FE, Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic and an updated Galaxy Watch Ultra. US sales began July 25, 2025, so this is now a confirmed post-event guide rather than a live upcoming-event page.

What Samsung announced
Samsung used the theme “Unfold Ultra” for its Brooklyn launch. The official lineup was broader than the three products named in the original liveblog title:
- Galaxy Z Fold7
- Galaxy Z Flip7
- Galaxy Z Flip7 FE
- Galaxy Watch8
- Galaxy Watch8 Classic
- An updated Galaxy Watch Ultra
Samsung’s announcement also centered on Android 16, One UI 8 and Gemini-powered Galaxy AI. A tri-fold phone, an XR headset launch and a product formally called “Galaxy Watch Ultra 2” did not appear as confirmed announcements. The Ultra was presented in official US material as the Galaxy Watch Ultra, with a new Titanium Blue option.
The event began at 7 a.m. PDT/10 a.m. EDT/3 p.m. BST on July 9, 2025. Samsung’s US availability announcement lists July 25, 2025 as the national on-sale date for the new foldables and Watch8 products. Prices below are US launch MSRPs from July 2025, not verified August 2026 street prices.

Samsung’s US announcement is the source for launch prices and availability. Regional pricing, colors, LTE bands and health functions vary.
Galaxy Watch8: the mainstream model
The Watch8 came in 40mm and 44mm sizes, with Graphite or Silver finishes and Bluetooth or LTE connectivity. Samsung introduced a slimmer “cushion” design and Dynamic Lug system, alongside its BioActive Sensor.
Health and fitness features
- Sleep insights and bedtime guidance
- Running Coach
- Stress and activity insights
- Vascular Load monitoring
- An Antioxidant Index that Samsung says estimates carotenoid levels in about five seconds
- Gemini integration for supported tasks
These are consumer wellness and health-monitoring functions, not automatic clinical diagnoses. Availability can depend on country, phone, software, language and regulatory approval. Samsung’s US product announcement describes the features and limitations; it does not establish that every function works identically for every Android user.
Event coverage reported a claimed peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. That is a manufacturer specification, and actual visibility depends on brightness mode, content and ambient light. LTE versions can handle calls, messages and connected services away from a phone when supported by a carrier plan; Bluetooth versions are the better-value choice for owners who normally carry their phone.
Rank #2
- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
Galaxy Watch8 Classic: the rotating-bezel choice
The Watch8 Classic is a 46mm model with a physical rotating bezel, Black or White finishes and Bluetooth or LTE options. The bezel is the meaningful difference, making scrolling and navigating menus more tactile than on the standard Watch8.
Choose it when traditional watch styling and the rotating control matter more than the smaller case choices of the regular Watch8. Its launch premium was $150 over the equivalent Bluetooth Watch8 and $150 over the LTE Watch8, based on Samsung’s US prices.
Galaxy Watch Ultra update
Samsung announced an updated Galaxy Watch Ultra from $649.99, with four titanium finishes including Titanium Blue. Tom’s Guide’s event coverage reported expanded onboard storage, while Samsung’s post-event US material confirmed the color and price. Because the official announcement does not label it “Ultra 2,” that name should not be used as if it were confirmed.
The Ultra is aimed at buyers who value rugged construction, premium materials, endurance positioning and outdoor use. It is difficult to justify for casual tracking when the standard Watch8 covers mainstream sleep, health and fitness needs at a much lower launch price.
Rank #3
- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
Galaxy Z Fold7
The Fold7’s practical story is its reduction in size and weight, not simply a thinner specification sheet. Samsung lists an 8-inch internal display, a 6.5-inch cover display, adaptive 120Hz refresh, a 200MP wide camera, 12MP ultrawide, 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy and a 4,400mAh battery. It weighs 215g and carries an IP48 water-resistance rating.
Configurations were 256GB, 512GB and 1TB; the 1TB version has 16GB of RAM. US colors were Blue Shadow, Silver Shadow and Jetblack, with Mint offered online. Samsung lists Android 16, One UI 8 and seven years of operating-system and security updates on its Fold7 specification sheet.
The compromises
- The Fold7 does not support the S Pen, despite its large productivity-oriented display.
- The 4,400mAh capacity is unchanged as a headline limitation against the phone’s size and price.
- IP48 indicates water resistance under specified test conditions; it does not make the hinge or inner screen dustproof or damage-proof.
- Foldables remain mechanically more complex than slab phones, so hinge debris, protector restrictions, accidental drops and repair costs deserve consideration.
Samsung’s claims about being thinner, lighter or “pro-grade” are positioning claims rather than independent comparative test results. The Fold7 is the logical choice for multitasking, documents, reading and video, but not for buyers who require an S Pen or want lower repair risk.
Galaxy Z Flip7 and Flip7 FE
Galaxy Z Flip7
The Flip7 expanded its Flex Window to 4.1 inches, up from 3.4 inches on the Flip6. It supports more interaction with apps, Now Brief summaries and AI tools without opening the phone. Samsung listed 256GB and 512GB models in Jetblack, Blue Shadow and Coralred, with Mint as a US online-exclusive color. The launch price was $1,099.99.
Rank #4
- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
The larger outer screen is the clearest hardware upgrade. Tom’s Guide’s live coverage noted that camera hardware did not materially change year over year, although Samsung promoted improved processing through its ProVisual Engine. That makes the Flip7 a usability upgrade more than a wholesale camera transformation.
Galaxy Z Flip7 FE
At $899.99, the Flip7 FE lowered the entry price for a Samsung flip foldable. Samsung’s coverage describes a 50MP camera and ProVisual Engine alongside Galaxy AI features; those are Samsung’s claims, not independent performance findings. It came in Black or White.
The FE makes sense when price matters more than the Flip7’s newest design, cover-screen experience, camera refinement and internal hardware. A discounted older Flip or conventional flagship could be better value, but current comparison prices were not established here.

The Fold7 specification sheet confirms Android 16 and One UI 8. Samsung promoted Gemini Live on the Fold7 and Flip7, including access from the Flip7 cover screen, contextual assistance and AI-generated summaries. Gemini on Watch8 extends the same assistant concept to supported watch interactions.
Best Value
- A premium foldable smartphone featuring an 8.0" Dynamic AMOLED 2X main display, 6.5" cover display, 200MP main camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy processor, up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage, 4,400mAh battery, and a slim 215g design.
Feature behavior can depend on a Google account, Samsung account, supported language, region, compatible phone and internet connection. Cloud-connected functions may not work offline, and availability can change with software updates. Samsung also advertised six months of Google AI Pro and 2TB of cloud storage for Flip7 and Flip7 FE buyers. That was a launch promotion, not a permanent entitlement or a guarantee that it remained available in 2026.
How the products compare for buyers
Fold7 or Flip7?
Buy the Fold7 for the large-screen experience, multitasking and its substantially stronger camera hardware. Buy the Flip7 for pocketability, a lower price, hands-free photography and a phone that becomes compact when closed. The Fold7 costs roughly twice as much as a conventional flagship and lacks S Pen support; the Flip7’s camera change is less dramatic.
Flip7 or Flip7 FE?
Choose the FE for the lowest new-entry price. Choose the standard Flip7 if you plan to keep the phone for years and value the larger, more capable cover-screen experience and newest hardware.
Watch8, Watch8 Classic or Ultra?
- Watch8: the default choice for mainstream sleep, health and fitness tracking.
- Watch8 Classic: for buyers who specifically want a rotating bezel and traditional styling.
- Watch Ultra: for rugged, outdoor-oriented use, premium materials and endurance positioning.
Bluetooth or LTE?
Bluetooth is the economical option for people who carry a phone. LTE adds independence for calls, messages and connected services, but requires carrier compatibility and a qualifying cellular plan. There is no universal LTE service price because carriers and countries differ.

Durability, protection and ownership
IP48 on the Fold7 should not be interpreted as immunity from hinge debris, drops or screen damage. Samsung Care+ may cover accidental damage, repairs and replacements, but deductibles, exclusions, terms and eligibility vary by market and plan. Check the current policy before purchase rather than assuming protection is automatically good value.
What the liveblog got wrong or left unresolved
Pre-event coverage mixed rumors with confirmed information. The tri-fold phone, XR headset and “Watch Ultra 2” were not confirmed launches. The Flip7 FE was an important part of the actual lineup and should not be omitted. Claims about AI understanding context, camera superiority, brightness and storage should be attributed to Samsung or event coverage unless independent testing supports a stronger conclusion.
