Samsung introduced the Galaxy Watch8, Galaxy Watch8 Classic and a refreshed Galaxy Watch Ultra on July 9, 2025; U.S. sales began July 25, 2025. As of August 18, 2026, these are established products rather than upcoming releases. The Watch8 is the light everyday model, the Classic adds a physical rotating bezel and traditional styling, and the 2025 Ultra is the large titanium LTE watch aimed at outdoor endurance.
Samsung’s June 2026 U.S. MSRP list starts at $349.99 for the Watch8, $499.99 for the Watch8 Classic and $649.99 for the Ultra. Retail discounts and trade-in credits can change the checkout price.

Galaxy Watch8: the practical choice for most people
The Watch8 comes in 40mm and 44mm aluminum cases, in Graphite or Silver, with Bluetooth and LTE variants. At 30g or 34g before the strap, it is much easier to wear overnight than the larger models. The 40mm suits smaller wrists; the 44mm gives you a larger display and a bigger battery.

Samsung introduced a cushion-shaped case and Dynamic Lug bands, claiming 12% greater comfort and 8% better stability than Galaxy Watch7 in its own internal testing. Those percentages are Samsung’s claims, not independent measurements. The watch is 8.6mm thick, has 32GB of storage, a 3,000-nit display and dual-frequency GPS.
Choose Watch8 when sleep tracking, a slim profile and the lowest entry price matter more than a bezel, titanium or maximum battery capacity.
Galaxy Watch8 Classic: the bezel and traditional-watch experience
The 46mm Classic restores Samsung’s rotating bezel and adds a Quick button. Its black or white case looks more like a conventional watch, and the bezel provides a precise way to scroll without covering the screen.
That hardware comes with a substantial trade-off: the case weighs 63.5g and is 10.6mm thick, nearly twice the weight of the 40mm Watch8 before a strap is fitted. It also has a 445mAh battery and 64GB of storage. The Classic uses the same Wear OS 6, One UI 8 Watch and broad Samsung Health platform as the Watch8, so its premium is mainly for controls, materials and size rather than exclusive everyday health measurements.

Buy it if the rotating bezel is central to how you want to use a watch. Do not choose it solely because it looks premium if low weight is your priority.
Galaxy Watch Ultra (2025): what the “new Ultra” actually is
This is a refresh of the first-generation 2024 Galaxy Watch Ultra, not a new product category. Samsung retained the large, rugged titanium design and LTE-only configuration, added a Titanium Blue finish and doubled storage to 64GB. It is the conspicuous, outdoor-oriented option with the largest battery class and the strongest case for long GPS workouts, navigation and travel away from a charger.
The Ultra costs more because of its case, endurance hardware, visibility and outdoor design. It does not provide a completely different everyday health platform from the Watch8. If you mainly want sleep tracking, notifications and Samsung Health, the smaller models cover those needs for less money.
Software, Gemini and Samsung Health
All three launched with Wear OS 6 and One UI 8 Watch. Samsung also promoted Gemini integration, allowing practical voice tasks such as starting a workout, asking for information, and working with calendar, reminders, clock and Samsung Health. Multi-Info Tiles and the Now Bar surface information without opening multiple apps.

Gemini functions depend on the connected device, language, country, internet connection, Samsung or Google account and feature availability. Do not assume every command works independently over LTE or on every Android phone. Samsung’s launch announcement is at Samsung Global Newsroom.
The BioActive Sensor supports ECG, irregular-heart-rhythm notifications, body-composition estimates, sleep tracking, sleep-apnea risk assessment, Bedtime Guidance, Energy Score, Running Coach, personalized heart-rate zones, vascular-load and antioxidant-related features, cycle tracking and other Samsung Health functions.
Health limitations you should understand
- Samsung describes the sleep-apnea function as an over-the-counter software feature that assesses risk; it is not a stand-alone diagnosis.
- ECG, irregular-rhythm, sleep-apnea and other functions can be restricted by country, regulation, watch model, carrier or paired phone.
- Body composition, vascular load, antioxidant and similar readings are wellness or screening information, not a substitute for medical care.
- Many Galaxy AI and Samsung Health functions require a compatible Samsung Galaxy phone, Samsung account and the Samsung Health app.
Samsung’s health information is intended for general wellness and fitness, not medical advice.
Compatibility, Bluetooth and LTE
Samsung lists Android 12 or later phones with more than 1.5GB of memory as compatible. These watches are not iPhone alternatives. Individual features may require a newer Samsung Galaxy phone or may be unavailable in your region.
Rank #4
- WHY GALAXY WATCH8 CLASSIC: Timeless design.* New lug system for easy band detachment & replacement.* Advanced health & sleep tracking features for total body wellness.* Improved user interface.* Personal AI assistant for hands free help.¹* 2-Yr Warranty
- BUILT TO PERFORM. DESIGNED TO IMPRESS: Show off your style with an iconic design that blends tradition with cutting-edge innovation.¹ A brighter screen makes everything easy to see, and a rotating bezel gives you access to your favorite apps
- YOUR EVERY COMMAND, RIGHT ON YOUR WRIST: Get a little extra help with day-to-day tasks. Galaxy Watch 8 Classic features a personal AI assistant¹ that helps you get things done hands-free. Simply speak the command and your Watch makes it happen
- UNLOCK THE SECRETS TO BETTER SLEEP: When you get good sleep, it feels like anything is possible. Start each day with more energy and better focus using Advanced Sleep Coaching² - improved with even more ways to help you sleep smarter
- QUICK UPDATES, AT A GLANCE: Get updates, select apps and more with Now Bar³,⁴ and an improved user experience. Now Bar conveniently puts the info you use the most - like weather, news and more - right on your main Watch screen
Bluetooth models are the sensible choice if you normally carry your phone. LTE models can handle calls, messages, streaming and emergency connectivity away from the phone, but require a supported carrier and usually an additional monthly plan. Check carrier activation rules in your country before paying the LTE premium.
Which model should you buy?
Choose Galaxy Watch8 when
- You want the lightest case for sleep and all-day wear.
- You prefer a compact, less conspicuous design.
- You want the lowest Watch8-family price.
- You do not need a rotating bezel or Ultra-level rugged hardware.
Choose Galaxy Watch8 Classic when
- A rotating bezel and physical controls matter more than low weight.
- You want a traditional 46mm watch appearance.
- You value 64GB storage but do not need titanium outdoor hardware.
- You accept a 63.5g, 10.6mm case.
Choose Galaxy Watch Ultra when
- Outdoor durability, LTE and battery capacity outweigh compactness.
- You hike, navigate, train outdoors or travel where charging is difficult.
- Titanium construction, Titanium Blue and 64GB storage justify the premium.
Should existing Galaxy Watch owners upgrade?
Galaxy Watch7 owners
The case for upgrading is the Watch8’s slimmer design, 3,000-nit display, newer software and newer health features. Samsung has not established a universal performance or battery percentage improvement, so upgrade for those concrete changes rather than an assumed speed boost.
Galaxy Watch6 Classic owners
If the rotating bezel is why you bought the Watch6 Classic, the Watch8 Classic preserves that experience. Upgrade when you specifically want the newer platform, brighter display or additional health functions; do not expect the Classic’s weight trade-off to disappear.
2024 Galaxy Watch Ultra owners
The 2025 Ultra is a refinement. Titanium Blue and 64GB storage are meaningful if you need them, but the rugged design and core positioning remain familiar. A discounted first-generation Ultra may be better value unless those changes solve a real need.

Prices, trade-ins and extras in 2026
Use the June 2026 MSRP as a stable baseline, then check Samsung or your carrier for dated promotions. Samsung’s Watch8 purchase page supports trade-in; eligibility depends on ownership, condition, software locks and timely submission. Samsung says a credit can be charged back if the old watch is not sent within 15 days or fails inspection.
LTE adds recurring service costs. Samsung Care+ covers accidental damage, repairs and replacements, but compare its price with the discounted watch before buying. Samsung also advertises a six-month Samsung Health powered by iFIT trial on qualifying purchases through December 31, 2026, while supplies last; treat it as a bonus, not as part of the watch’s intrinsic value.
Samsung’s watch-shopping hub lists current models and purchase paths. The Galaxy Ring is a reasonable alternative for discreet sleep and health tracking, but it lacks a screen, GPS controls, calls, apps and watch notifications.
The Bottom Line
For most Android users, the Galaxy Watch8 is the balanced choice: light, bright and least expensive. Buy the Watch8 Classic for its rotating bezel and traditional 46mm design, accepting much greater weight. Choose the 2025 Galaxy Watch Ultra when titanium construction, LTE, endurance and outdoor durability matter more than size or price.
