Seiko’s Prospex collection lists the Alpinist SPB155, SPB157 and SPB159, but the verified specifications available here are strongest for the SPB155J1. Seiko’s official product listing identifies that reference as a 38 mm steel watch with a green dial and bracelet, Caliber 6R35 and 20-bar water resistance. The sources do not establish these watches as a new 2026 launch; the catalog evidence dates to 2020.
What is confirmed about the three references?
Seiko lists SPB155, SPB157 and SPB159 in its Prospex collection. A search-indexed result from a 2020 catalog names the J1 references together, but the catalog could not be inspected directly. Seiko’s individual product listing retrieved for this comparison is for SPB155J1, so its details should not automatically be applied to SPB157J1 or SPB159J1.
| Reference | What the sources establish | What to verify before buying |
|---|---|---|
| SPB155J1 | Seiko’s listing specifies a 38.0 mm stainless-steel case, green dial, steel bracelet, Caliber 6R35 and 20 bar water resistance. | Confirm the live regional price, stock and seller terms. |
| SPB157J1 | Named alongside the other references in a search-indexed 2020 catalog result; Seiko’s Prospex collection page lists SPB157. | Check the individual regional product page for dial, included strap or bracelet, dimensions, price and availability. |
| SPB159J1 | Named alongside the other references in a search-indexed 2020 catalog result; Seiko’s Prospex collection page lists SPB159. | Check the individual regional product page for dial, included strap or bracelet, dimensions, price and availability. |
Seiko’s Prospex collection page is regional, not a universal price list. When crawled in 2026, it displayed USD 690 for SPB155 and USD 670 each for SPB157 and SPB159. Treat those as volatile Middle East page listings, not guaranteed current prices or prices for another country; check local taxes, stock and the exact J1 reference with the seller.
SPB155J1: verified size, materials and wear details
Seiko lists a stainless-steel case measuring 38.0 mm across, 46.0 mm lug-to-lug and 12.9 mm thick, with 20 mm between the lugs. Its listed weight is 144 g. The Seiko Boutique Europe description identifies the SPB155J1 as having a green dial and stainless-steel bracelet. Those figures give a useful starting point for judging fit, but they do not establish how the watch feels on an individual wrist.

The crystal is curved sapphire with anti-reflective coating on its inner surface. LumiBrite is applied to the hands and indexes. Seiko specifies a screw-down crown, a see-through screw caseback and water resistance of 20 bar. The watch also has a date display and stop-seconds function, according to Seiko’s SPB155J1 product listing.
Movement and accuracy: what Seiko’s figures mean
The SPB155J1 uses Seiko Caliber 6R35, an automatic movement that can also be wound manually. Seiko lists 24 jewels, a date display and approximately 70 hours of power reserve. The reserve is a manufacturer specification, not a guarantee of the same running time in every use condition.

Seiko gives the caliber’s factory-adjusted daily rate as +25 to -15 seconds per day under its stated normal-temperature conditions. This is a specification range, not a promised result for each watch. Seiko cautions that actual rate depends on wearing and winding conditions; consult its 6R35 instructions and specifications for that qualification.
How to compare SPB155J1 with SPB157J1 and SPB159J1
The available evidence does not support a definitive side-by-side account of sibling-specific colors, supplied bands or full dimensions. The Prospex collection page confirms that SPB157 and SPB159 are listed products, while the catalog search result is indirect evidence rather than a current, directly inspected specification sheet. Before choosing between them, open the official regional listing for the exact reference and check:

- Dial color and whether the watch is supplied on a bracelet or strap.

Do not assume a strap or bracelet is interchangeable between listings without confirming lug width and fit. SPB155J1’s documented lug width is 20 mm; the available evidence here does not verify the corresponding dimensions for the other two references.
Heritage and intended use
Seiko describes the Prospex line as serving “sports lovers and adventure seekers whether in the water, in the sky or on land.” The SPB155 product narrative calls it a modern reimagining of Seiko’s first sport watch, introduced in 1959. These are Seiko’s own descriptions of the collection and model, not independent performance assessments.

Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Is “brand new” accurate?
Not as a current-launch claim on the evidence available. The catalog result dates to 2020, and Seiko’s collection page displays the models, but neither establishes a 2026 release. The title’s “brand new” wording should therefore be understood as stale framing rather than a verified description of a recent launch.
