The Seiko Prospex SPB519 is the blue-and-white, regular-collection version of the upgraded 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT. Its defining updates are 300m diver’s water resistance and a clasp that Seiko says adjusts in six steps across about 15mm; the watch also pairs a 24-hour GMT hand with the automatic 6R54 movement.
What is the Seiko SPB519?
Seiko lists the SPB519J1 as a Prospex 1968 Heritage Diver’s GMT. The U.S. model has a silvery-white, sunray-brushed dial and a blue ceramic bezel, giving the diver-style case a lighter, higher-contrast look than the limited SPB509’s wave-pattern dial. Seiko’s official SPB519 product page identifies the model and its specifications.
The SPB519 is not presented as a limited edition. Monochrome reported on 30 April 2025 that it would join Seiko’s permanent collection, with availability beginning in June 2025. Availability and pricing can vary by market.
What changed on the upgraded 1968 Heritage Diver GMT?
The upgrade most likely to matter in everyday use is the combination of a 300m water-resistance rating and a bracelet clasp with on-the-fly adjustment. Seiko describes the six-step clasp as a first for a non-limited-edition model. Each step is about 2.5mm, for approximately 15mm of total adjustment—useful for fine-tuning bracelet fit as conditions change.

The SPB519 brings these features into a regular-collection colorway. In its 30 April 2025 launch coverage, Monochrome traced the mechanical dive GMT line to the SPB381, SPB383 and SPB385, which it says were rated to 200m. The limited SPB509 introduced the 300m rating and micro-adjust clasp; the SPB519 carries those updates forward with its own light dial and blue bezel.
How does the SPB519’s GMT function work?
The automatic 6R54 movement has a 24-hour hand for displaying a second time zone. Seiko describes this as a GMT function that displays time in two different time zones. Monochrome characterizes the 6R54 arrangement as a “caller” or “office” GMT: the 24-hour hand tracks the second zone rather than providing the traveler-style local-hour adjustment associated with some GMT watches.

Seiko specifies manual winding, 24 jewels, a stop-second hand and an approximate 72-hour power reserve. Its stated precision range is +25 to -15 seconds per day. That is the manufacturer’s specification, not a measured result for an individual watch. Monochrome reports a 3Hz operating frequency.
