Six brands identified in a 2022 Time+Tide article have Kenissi movement connections: Tudor, Breitling, TAG Heuer, Chanel, Norqain and Fortis. The article names specific watches and calibres, but it does not establish that every brand replaced the same outside supplier—or document every Kenissi-powered model in each catalogue.
What the six-brand list actually shows
Kenissi is linked to these brands in different ways: Tudor is described as the origin brand, Breitling as an industrial partner, Chanel as a stakeholder, and TAG Heuer, Norqain and Fortis as customers or collaborators. The examples are evidence of movement relationships, not a like-for-like watch buying guide.
The phrase “ditched industry giants” is the 2022 article’s framing. It does not identify a former supplier for each brand, so it cannot support a claim that all six left one particular movement maker. The article also offers selected examples rather than a complete catalogue of each brand’s movements.
Kenissi connections and cited watch examples
| Brand | Relationship described in the 2022 article | Named watch or calibre | Details attributed to the article |
|---|---|---|---|
| Tudor | Origin brand | Black Bay, Pelagos, Ranger and Glamour families; MT5XXX calibres | More than 10 MT5XXX derivations are reported. No single calibre specification is provided for these families. |
| Breitling | First industrial partner | SuperOcean Heritage | The article names the collection but does not provide a specific calibre or specification. |
| TAG Heuer | Customer or collaborator | Superdiver; Calibre TH30-00 | The article says the calibre was made exclusively for TAG Heuer, was COSC-certified and had a 70-hour power reserve. |
| Chanel | Stakeholder in Kenissi | J12 movement; Tudor MT56XXX line cited for comparison | The article reports a 70-hour reserve, free-sprung balance and double-sided balance bridge as characteristics shared with the MT56XXX line. |
| Norqain | Customer or collaborator | Neverest GMT 41mm | The article says this watch marked the start of the Kenissi collaboration and compares its calibre with one used in Tudor’s Black Bay GMT. It supplies no calibre designation here. |
| Fortis | Customer or collaborator | Marinemaster and Werk 11 | The article connects both with Kenissi. In a hands-on review, its writer reported the Werk 11 running at 0 seconds per day in four positions, with nearly perfect beat error. |
How to read the movement claims
Tudor and the MT5XXX family
The 2022 article presents Tudor as central to Kenissi’s beginnings and says Tudor watches use more than 10 derivations of the MT5XXX calibre. It names the Black Bay, Pelagos, Ranger and Glamour families as examples. That does not mean every watch in those families has a Kenissi movement; the exact reference and calibre need to be checked individually.

Breitling and TAG Heuer
Breitling is described as Kenissi’s first industrial partner, with the SuperOcean Heritage named as an application. The article gives more specific details for TAG Heuer’s Superdiver: it attributes the exclusive TH30-00 calibre, COSC certification and 70-hour reserve to the watch. Those are claims reported in 2022, not confirmation of specifications for every current Superdiver or later TAG Heuer model.
Chanel and Norqain
Time+Tide reported that Chanel joined the Kenissi group in 2019 and held a 20% stake at the article’s 5 September 2022 publication date. It names the J12 movement and compares its reported 70-hour reserve, free-sprung balance and double-sided balance bridge with the Tudor MT56XXX line. These are dated reports; they do not establish Chanel’s current ownership position.

For Norqain, the named example is the 41mm Neverest GMT. The 2022 article says this was the starting point of the brand’s Kenissi collaboration and compares the calibre with one found in the Tudor Black Bay GMT. It does not name the specific calibre designation in that comparison.
Fortis and the Werk 11 observation
The article links the Fortis Marinemaster and Werk 11 to Kenissi. Its writer’s reported observation of the Werk 11—0 seconds per day across four positions, with nearly perfect beat error—is a result from that review, not a general accuracy guarantee or a specification applying to every Werk 11.

What to verify before choosing a Kenissi-powered watch
The examples establish a useful starting list, but they are not enough to confirm a particular watch’s movement or present-day status. For a specific purchase, check the exact reference against the manufacturer’s current specifications. Confirm the calibre rather than relying on the collection name, since the 2022 article does not document every reference or establish current availability.
