Update — August 18, 2026: TAG Heuer lists both E4 Golf Edition sizes as discontinued in the United States. The E4 was a luxury Wear OS smartwatch with golf maps, GPS distances, shot tracking and club recommendations; TAG Heuer’s current golf-specific Connected successor is the E5. If you are considering an E4 now, compatibility, battery condition and price matter as much as its original feature set.
What the E4 Golf Edition was
The TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 Golf Edition combined a conventional round luxury-watch design with TAG Heuer Golf software. It was offered in a 45 mm version and, later, a 42 mm version identified by TAG Heuer as a 2023 model. “Calibre” is part of the product name: this is an electronic smartwatch powered by Qualcomm hardware and Wear OS, not a mechanical watch movement.
TAG Heuer’s launch-era language about taking golfers “to heaven” was promotional, not a technical promise. The practical proposition was information on the wrist—course layouts, distances and round data—wrapped in titanium, ceramic and sapphire rather than the look of a basic golf GPS unit.
As of August 18, 2026, TAG Heuer’s U.S. product pages identify both E4 Golf Edition sizes as discontinued. The prices still shown on those pages—$1,500 for the 42 mm and $1,650 for the 45 mm—are legacy listing prices, not confirmation that either model is available at that price. How the 42 mm and 45 mm models differ
The smaller watch is not simply a scaled-down 45 mm edition: it has a smaller display and battery, and its specified battery scenario is correspondingly different. Both use the Snapdragon Wear 4100+, Wear OS, sapphire crystal, a ceramic golf-marked bezel and 50 m water resistance.

Specifications and battery scenarios are from TAG Heuer’s 42 mm product page, 42 mm brochure, 45 mm product page and 45 mm brochure. The full-day claims are manufacturer scenarios, not guarantees for every configuration or round.
Both models list a heart-rate sensor, compass, microphone and barometer, as well as Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and GNSS. The 45 mm case is 15.27 mm thick, while even the smaller 42 mm measures 14.20 mm thick; case diameter alone therefore does not tell the whole fit story.

What the golf software could do
On the course, TAG Heuer Golf was intended to put navigation and scoring information on the watch, while the companion app provided a larger space to review a round. TAG Heuer’s E4 materials describe support for more than 40,000 courses worldwide. The current U.S. App Store listing instead says more than 39,000 courses for certain app functions; those are distinct claims from different materials and should not be collapsed into one coverage figure.
- Distances and hazards: GPS distances to the green and course information identifying hazards, so a player can check the next shot without reaching for a phone.
- Course maps: High-resolution 2D maps, with course visualization features described in TAG Heuer materials.
- Scoring and shot data: Scorekeeping for a round and shot-distance measurement, with later E4 Golf software materials also describing automatic shot detection.
- Club insight: Club recommendations and performance information such as distance and accuracy for tracked shots. Recommendations depend on having useful historical data; they do not establish that a golfer will score better.
- Practice and sharing: Driving Range heat maps showing where previous shots landed, plus 3D course visuals and shareable shot or round imagery in the iOS app.
These capabilities are described in the 45 mm brochure, the 42 mm brochure and the TAG Heuer Golf App Store listing. Automatic detection is a convenience, not a promise that every practice swing, chip, putt or unusual lie will be classified correctly. GPS distances are not launch-monitor measurements.
How a round would typically work
TAG Heuer’s published materials confirm the functions, but do not establish one universal button-by-button sequence for every E4 software version. A representative use pattern is:

- Pair the watch with a compatible phone and TAG Heuer companion software.
- Open TAG Heuer Golf, choose the course and start a round.
- Use the watch’s hole information to check green distances and hazards while playing.
- Record shots manually or use automatic shot detection where available and enabled; check entries when detection is uncertain.
- Review available club and round statistics in the app after play.
Course-map availability can vary by location and database status. The experience also depends on phone pairing, account/app access and GPS acquisition; it is not an entirely self-contained substitute for all connected features.
Materials, styling and what came in the box
The E4 Golf Edition was built to read as a TAG Heuer watch first: titanium case, sapphire crystal and a ceramic bezel marked for the 18 holes. The 45 mm package added golf cues beyond the bezel, including a ball marker integrated into the buckle. TAG Heuer’s 45 mm product listing identifies an additional black rubber strap, three golf balls, an extra ball marker, charging dock and USB-C cable, power adapter, golf ball markers, quick-start guide, instruction manual and international warranty. Package contents can differ for used or resale examples, so buyers should confirm what is actually included.
Battery, phone compatibility and support considerations
The E4 is a one-day smartwatch by TAG Heuer’s own stated scenarios, not a multi-day golf tracker. Battery condition and the demands of GPS and sports use matter particularly on the resale market.

TAG Heuer lists compatibility for the E4 as Android 8.1 through Android 15, excluding Android Go edition, and iOS 15.4 through iOS 18.4. These are the ranges shown on the E4 product listings, not a guarantee that future phone or app updates will preserve every feature. The current E5 has different listed phone requirements, so support for an E5-compatible phone should not be assumed to mean E4 compatibility.
Apple’s U.S. listing shows TAG Heuer Golf version 3.7.1 dated October 8, 2025. That is evidence of an app update at that point, not a commitment to indefinite E4 support. Buyers should verify their own phone pairing and course search before paying, especially because a discontinued smartwatch’s useful life depends on software as well as hardware.

For golfers who want TAG Heuer Golf without buying a TAG Heuer watch, the iOS app listing describes Apple Watch functions; the App Store listing notes subscription options, with local pricing shown in the store. That route does not provide the E5’s dedicated hardware or luxury case.
Who should consider a used or discounted E4?
An E4 can still make sense for a golfer who values TAG Heuer design, wrist-based course information and general smartwatch/health functions, and who finds one at a substantial discount. It is a weaker choice for someone prioritizing the longest battery life, newest GPS and scoring features, or a product with current flagship status. A smaller wrist may favor the 42 mm size, but its 14.20 mm thickness remains substantial. Neither model should be bought on the expectation that its features will lower a handicap by themselves.
