It comes in date and no-date versions with different Miyota movements. Traska’s specifications make it a well-equipped daily-wear candidate; whether its 38 mm case suits you is personal, and the hardening claims are not a substitute for independent long-term testing.
What the Commuter 38 is—and which version to choose
The Commuter is a broader Traska family offered in 34, 36, and 38 mm sizes, with date and no-date options. This review focuses on the 38 mm model. The date version places its date window at 6 o’clock; the no-date dial avoids that display.

Traska describes both 9-series movements as automatic and hand-windable, with hacking seconds, 24 jewels, a frequency of 28,800 beats per hour, and a 42-hour power reserve. These are manufacturer-published specifications; the cited material does not independently verify them against a current Miyota technical sheet. The brand also says it regulates the movements in four positions and that they typically run from -10 to +20 seconds per day after regulation. That is Traska’s stated range, not an independent accuracy test of every watch.
How it wears: 38 mm is a starting point, not a fit guarantee
Fratello’s hands-on review covers an Adriatic Blue Commuter 38 and offers one reviewer’s impressions of the watch as a daily wearer. WatchReport also published a hands-on review, where the author’s preference for watches around 40 mm and larger illustrates how individual size preferences can be. Neither review establishes that the Commuter 38 will fit every wrist well.

- PU Leather: Made from selected PU leather with a soft lining, this matte watch strap offers a smooth feel, vintage appearance and comfortable fit for everyday wear.
- Quick Release: Built-in quick release pins allow fast installation and removal without additional tools, while the 20mm lug width provides a precise connection.

- Customer Support: Please measure the inner distance between your watch lugs before ordering; contact us if you have questions about size, installation or product quality.
Case diameter alone cannot settle fit. The sources cited here do not establish the current model’s thickness or lug-to-lug measurement, so compare those dimensions directly with a watch you already wear if fit is a deciding factor. If possible, try the exact date or no-date version in person; dial color, bracelet sizing, and wrist shape can all affect the impression.
Hardening, crystal, and water resistance
Traska says the Commuter’s 316L steel case and bracelet receive its proprietary hardening treatment, reaching almost 1200 HV after treatment. The company also specifies a synthetic sapphire crystal with an underside anti-reflective coating and describes its hardness as 9/10 on the Mohs scale. These are brand claims. The available hands-on reviews provide opinions, not independent laboratory measurements of coating hardness or evidence from a long-term durability study.
The steel is therefore better described as treated to resist scratches than as scratch-proof. The watch is rated by Traska at 100 meters / 10 ATM and has a screw-down crown. That rating is a useful specification, but it does not by itself establish suitability for a particular dive or water activity; follow the manufacturer’s usage guidance.
Bracelet and everyday adjustment
The bracelet is one of the Commuter’s most practical features on paper. Traska specifies a taper from 20 mm at the lugs to 16 mm, quick-release spring bars for bracelet removal, and removable links secured with large flat-head screws. The clasp has six tool-less micro-adjust positions spaced 1.35 mm apart, and Traska includes two half-links. That gives owners several ways to refine fit as wrist size changes through the day.

Quick-release spring bars also make swapping to a strap more convenient. Confirm the lug width and strap-end compatibility for the exact variant before buying a replacement; a nominal width alone does not guarantee that every strap will fit cleanly.

Price, warranty, and buying considerations
When Traska’s Arctic White Commuter 38 page was observed on September 28, 2026, it listed a price of $700 USD. That is the displayed price for that listing at that time, not a guarantee for other colors, configurations, or later dates. Fratello’s review cites US$670 (roughly €575) as historical price context; it should not be mistaken for the current official listing. Check the official Commuter 38 listing for current price and availability.
Traska lists a three-year warranty. Review the current warranty terms for coverage, exclusions, and the claims process before relying on it. The same product page describes free expedited shipping—FedEx 2 Day in the United States and FedEx International Economy elsewhere—and says international buyers are responsible for applicable VAT, tariffs, duties, taxes, handling, and customs-clearance charges. Delivery arrangements and the total landed cost depend on destination and current checkout terms.
Is the Commuter 38 a convincing daily watch?
Its strongest case is the combination of a compact-by-modern-standards 38 mm option, restrained styling, a choice between date and no-date, a bracelet designed for fine adjustment, and practical headline specifications. The caveats are equally important: fit cannot be judged from diameter alone, the movement accuracy and hardening figures are manufacturer statements rather than independent test results, and the live price and shipping terms should be checked before ordering.
For readers drawn to the Adriatic Blue version, Fratello’s hands-on Commuter 38 review provides an individual owner-facing perspective. WatchReport’s Commuter 38 review offers another reviewer’s take, including a reminder that preferred watch size varies.
When comparing it with another automatic daily watch, assess case thickness and lug-to-lug alongside diameter, the caliber tied to your preferred date display, crown construction and water-resistance rating, crystal treatment, bracelet adjustment, warranty, and destination-specific landed cost. The Commuter’s listed features make it a credible option to consider, but the final fit decision is best made on your wrist.
