Yes, Apple Watch Series 8 GPS + Cellular units can be found at Walmart for roughly $139 to $165, but these are generally refurbished or “Restored” marketplace listings—not new Apple stock. The real bargain depends on the seller, battery health, return policy, regional model, and the continuing cost of cellular service.
What Walmart is actually selling
The listings are typically 41mm or 45mm Apple Watch Series 8 aluminum models in refurbished or “Restored” condition. Walmart marketplace sellers, rather than Apple, usually provide the inventory; fulfillment, accessories, cosmetic grade, warranty and returns vary by listing.
One 45mm listing was described as “Restored: Like New,” sold by Kiss Electronics Inc. and fulfilled by Walmart. That seller showed a rating of about 3.7 out of 5 from more than 20,000 reviews. A separate 41mm listing showed free shipping and free 90-day returns. Check the live product page because marketplace details can change.
Do not assume “Restored” means Apple-certified refurbished. It is Walmart or the individual seller’s condition language unless the page explicitly says otherwise.

Examples appeared in Walmart search results crawled between April and July 2026, not at one guaranteed nationwide price. Size, color, case material, condition, seller, inventory and delivery location can all change the total. Verify the live price, seller, condition, shipping and returns at checkout.

Why Series 8 is still attractive
Series 8 is a 2022-generation Apple Watch, but its core hardware remains capable for fitness, notifications and safety:
- 41mm and 45mm cases with an always-on Retina LTPO OLED display, rated up to 1,000 nits.
- Apple S8 processor and 32GB storage.
- ECG, temperature sensing, Fall Detection and Crash Detection, subject to regional, software and regulatory availability.
- GPS, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and LTE cellular connectivity.
- IP6X dust resistance and 50-meter water resistance.
- Fast charging.
- Apple-rated battery life of up to 18 hours under its stated test conditions. For the GPS + Cellular test, Apple includes four hours of LTE use and 14 hours connected to an iPhone.
See Apple’s technical specifications for the test assumptions and feature details. A used watch may deliver less battery life than Apple’s rating, especially if its battery has aged.

With an active plan, the watch can handle many calls, messages, notifications, Walkie-Talkie sessions, music or podcast streaming and some app functions away from the iPhone and Wi-Fi. That is useful for running, commuting, travel or safety situations where carrying a phone is inconvenient.

It is not an independent Android-style phone. Series 8 requires an iPhone for setup and management, and many functions still rely on Apple services, the paired account or carrier availability. Apple’s setup path is Watch app → My Watch → Cellular. The iPhone and watch generally need the same carrier, while some prepaid, corporate and older plans are ineligible. Series 8 uses LTE/4G-era connectivity. Apple says models introduced in 2024 and earlier connect to 4G LTE and 3G UMTS, while newer models such as Series 11, SE 3 and Ultra 3 can use 5G where supported: Apple cellular support.
The cellular plan changes the economics
The low purchase price is only the first-year cost. Calculate:
True first-year cost = watch price + tax + 12 months of cellular service + accessories or protection.
Apple’s U.S. carrier list includes AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, UScellular, Consumer Cellular, Cricket, Metro by T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, Spectrum Mobile and others, but eligibility and monthly pricing are carrier-specific: Apple’s carrier page. Do not assume a universal monthly rate.

If you nearly always carry your iPhone, a GPS-only Series 8 can be better value. Cellular makes more sense when leaving the phone behind is a regular, intentional use case.
Risks to check before ordering
Battery condition
For a roughly four-year-old watch in 2026, battery health is the most important unknown. Look for a maximum-capacity disclosure; if none is provided, assume you may need to evaluate it immediately and use the return window if capacity is poor.

Compare the seller name, review volume, rating, fulfillment party, warranty provider, return period and condition grade. A slightly more expensive listing with clear battery information and easier returns may be the better deal.
Activation Lock
The watch must be removed from the previous owner’s Apple Account. If setup requests somebody else’s Apple Account credentials, do not accept the device; return it.
Regional cellular model
Apple Watch cellular models are region-specific rather than universally compatible worldwide. U.S. buyers should verify the exact model and carrier compatibility. Apple lists Series 8 U.S. cellular model numbers including A2772 for 41mm and A2774 for 45mm on its carrier page.

Accessories and listing copy
Confirm whether the charger and band are included, whether they are genuine Apple accessories, and whether the package is original. One Walmart listing said it would not include original packaging, headphones, a SIM card or a manual. Apple Watch does not use a conventional removable SIM card, so generic wording like that is a reason to inspect the listing carefully, not proof that the watch is counterfeit.
Compatibility in 2026
Apple’s compatibility table lists Series 8 with iPhone 8 or later running iOS 16 or later, with watchOS 9 or later identified for the model. That baseline does not guarantee compatibility with every future watchOS release. What to do when it arrives
- Verify the model: In the iPhone’s Watch app, open My Watch → General → About. Confirm the model, 41mm or 45mm size, capacity and GPS + Cellular designation against the listing.
- Check Activation Lock: Setup must not request another person’s Apple Account.
- Record battery health: On the watch, open Settings → Battery → Battery Health and record maximum capacity.
- Inspect the hardware: Test the display, touchscreen, Digital Crown, side button, speaker, microphone, haptics and case. Look for cracks, deep scratches, burn-in, dead pixels or bent edges.
- Test charging: Confirm reliable charging and inspect the charging puck for damage.
- Test cellular before the return deadline: Pair the watch, open My Watch → Cellular → Set Up Cellular, then test a call or data connection away from the iPhone and Wi-Fi after activation.
- Confirm accessories: Check the band size, band condition and charger against the product description.
Photograph the packaging and device on arrival. If cellular setup fails, Apple recommends restarting both devices and cycling Airplane Mode before contacting the carrier; its troubleshooting guidance is at Apple Support.
Which version makes sense?

- People whose carrier supports Apple Watch service.
- Users who genuinely want to leave the iPhone behind sometimes.
Skip it if
- You use Android or want a fully independent phone.
- You require a new, sealed device or Apple-certified refurbishment.
- You do not want a recurring cellular bill.
- Your carrier plan is unsupported, prepaid or corporate and cannot be confirmed.
- You need the longest remaining software-support runway or cannot tolerate uncertain battery health.
Verdict
At around $139 to $165, a Walmart refurbished Apple Watch Series 8 GPS + Cellular can be an excellent value, especially in aluminum. Buy only after confirming the exact model, seller, battery disclosure, return terms, regional compatibility and total cellular cost. The low sticker price is real; the bargain is not guaranteed until those conditions check out.
