The TicWatch Atlas is a separate case: it launched with Wear OS 4 already installed. No Wear OS 4 rollout has been confirmed for the TicWatch Pro 3 family, E3 or other older models.
Which TicWatch models have Wear OS 4?
| Model | Wear OS 4 status | What that means |
|---|---|---|
| TicWatch Pro 5 | Confirmed upgrade | Mobvoi announced a phased update from Wear OS 3.5 on September 3, 2024. |
| TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro | Confirmed upgrade | Also upgraded from Wear OS 3.5 in the same rollout. |
| TicWatch Atlas | Ships with Wear OS 4 | Wear OS 4 was installed at launch; it did not receive the Pro 5-series upgrade. |
| TicWatch Pro 3, Pro 3 Ultra GPS, E3 and other older models | Not confirmed | Mobvoi did not announce a verified Wear OS 4 rollout for these watches. |
Mobvoi’s announcement covered the Pro 5 and Pro 5 Enduro specifically: Mobvoi’s September 3, 2024 announcement. The absence of an announcement does not prove that an older model can never be updated, but owners should not buy or reset one assuming Wear OS 4 is available.

When did the update arrive?
Wear OS 4 first appeared on Samsung’s Galaxy Watch 6 generation in August 2023. Mobvoi then launched the TicWatch Pro 5 Enduro in May 2024 with Wear OS 3.5, even though the newer platform was already established on competing watches. On September 3, 2024, Mobvoi announced a phased Wear OS 4 rollout for the Pro 5 series. Contemporary reporting said stable software began reaching users worldwide during September, with completion expected later that month: Notebookcheck’s rollout report.
The TicWatch Atlas arrived in October 2024 with Wear OS 4 preinstalled rather than receiving this update: 9to5Google’s Atlas launch coverage. Therefore, “finally” describes a late update relative to the wider Wear OS market, not a new 2026 release.

What Wear OS 4 changes on the Pro 5 and Enduro
Backup and device transfer
Backup and restore, together with phone-transfer support, makes moving to a new phone or recovering after a reset less disruptive. A backup is protection against data loss, not a guaranteed clone of every setting, permission, watch face or health record.
Google and third-party apps
The update adds or refreshes Gmail and Google Calendar, improves smart-home integration, and brings WhatsApp calling support. Spotify and Peloton also receive reported improvements. Availability can depend on app versions, phone compatibility and region.
Fitness and health tools
Mobvoi reported TicMotion improvements, including cycling detection and more frequent activity detection. The TicHealth experience consolidates information from TicPulse, TicOxygen, TicZen and TicSleep. Reports also describe additional workouts, workout-list customization (particularly on the Pro 5), and sharing real-time exercise data with third-party services such as Strava. These functions can vary between the Pro 5 and Enduro and may require companion-app updates.
Stability
General bug fixes and stability work are part of the package. Wear OS 4 is not a guaranteed battery-life fix: runtime still depends on display mode, GPS, workouts, sensors and app activity.
Feature reporting is summarized by Android Authority and Notebookcheck.
How to check for and install Wear OS 4
- Charge the watch and connect it to a reliable Wi-Fi network.
- Open Settings on the watch.
- Choose System or System updates, then check for software.
- Install the update only when the battery is sufficiently charged and you can leave the watch undisturbed through the reboot.
- After startup, open the software-information screen and verify the Wear OS version.
- Update the Mobvoi companion app and watch apps through Google Play if prompted.
Labels can differ by firmware build. If you cannot find the option, use the watch’s Settings search and enter update.
If no update appears
- Confirm that the watch is a TicWatch Pro 5 or Pro 5 Enduro, not a Pro 3, Pro 3 Ultra GPS or E3.
- Restart both the watch and phone, reconnect to stable Wi-Fi and check again.
- Keep the watch charging and update the Mobvoi companion app and Google Play system components.
- Remember that the original rollout was phased; availability could differ by region, imported device or China-market firmware.
- Back up important information before any reset. Do not factory-reset solely to force an update unless Mobvoi support instructs you to.
- Contact Mobvoi support if an eligible watch remains stuck after the rollout window.
No universal current firmware-build number or single menu path applies to every TicWatch software build, so a version check on the individual watch is more reliable than a number copied from an old update report.
Will installing Wear OS 4 erase the watch?
The backup-and-restore system is designed to make major upgrades and phone transfers safer, but it does not promise that every app, watch face, permission or setting will return exactly as before. Some third-party software may need reinstalling, and certain pairing or migration problems can still require a reset. If workout or health history is important, verify that it has synchronized before starting.

Mobvoi’s Pro 5-series announcement did not promise Wear OS 4 for the Pro 3, Pro 3 Ultra GPS, E3 or other earlier watches. Contemporary coverage likewise noted that Mobvoi had not said whether those models would be updated: 9to5Google. Treat those watches as unconfirmed rather than assuming eligibility from the “select TicWatch models” wording.

Existing Pro 5 and Enduro owners
Updating is sensible if backup and transfer tools, Gmail, Calendar, WhatsApp calling, smart-home controls or the newer fitness integrations matter to you. Prepare first if battery life is already marginal, you depend on a particular third-party watch face, or the watch contains records you cannot easily recreate.
Used Pro 5 or Enduro buyers
Wear OS 4 makes discounted or used units more attractive than their launch software suggested, but check the exact model, battery condition and return policy. Ask the seller to show the Wear OS version in Settings, and confirm that a replacement charger and straps are available. The Enduro launched at $349.99/£329.99 in May 2024; that is historical launch pricing, not a current 2026 street price. It is Android-only and has no LTE, so it is a poor choice for iPhone users or anyone needing phone-independent connectivity. Launch specifications and compatibility are documented by Tech Advisor.
Atlas buyers
The Atlas is the straightforward Wear OS 4 option because it ships with that version. Mobvoi lists a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor, 2GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, a 628mAh typical battery, a 1.43-inch 466 × 466 display, sapphire crystal, 5ATM and MIL-STD-810H claims, and Android 8.0-or-later compatibility (excluding Android Go and phones without Google Play). Mobvoi estimates up to 90 hours in Smart Mode and up to 45 days in Essential Mode; those are usage-mode estimates, not guarantees. Its product page is Mobvoi’s Atlas specification page.

Atlas suits Android users who prioritize endurance, a large rugged watch and features such as GPS, a barometer and compass. It is a poor fit for iPhone owners, people requiring LTE, buyers who want a small watch, or anyone expecting guaranteed access to every future Wear OS release. Google Wallet and other Google services remain subject to country and device restrictions.
How alternatives differ
| Alternative | Best suited to | Main trade-off versus TicWatch |
|---|---|---|
| OnePlus Watch 2 | Buyers wanting long battery life with a newer Wear OS starting point | Different hardware, software and health ecosystem. |
| Samsung Galaxy Watch | Samsung owners seeking a mature health and update ecosystem | Usually less distinctive for multi-day battery endurance. |
| Google Pixel Watch | People prioritizing Google integration and update priority | Typically a weaker battery-life proposition than dual-display TicWatch models. |
| Garmin | Serious endurance athletes and very long battery life | Not a Wear OS replacement and lacks the same Google Play app ecosystem. |
These are different priorities rather than a universal ranking. Official destinations are OnePlus, Google, Samsung and Garmin.
What the update says about Mobvoi’s software support
Wear OS 4 corrected a significant gap for the Pro 5 series, but it does not establish a future update schedule. Wear OS 4 was already available on competitors when the Enduro launched with Wear OS 3.5, and later commentary has questioned Mobvoi’s ability to keep TicWatch software current: Android Central’s later report. That is context for a buying decision, not an official declaration that Mobvoi has abandoned TicWatch.
The Bottom Line
Update a TicWatch Pro 5 or Pro 5 Enduro if you want Wear OS 4’s transfer, app and fitness improvements and can prepare for a major software change. Choose the Atlas if you want Wear OS 4 out of the box and value battery endurance. Treat older TicWatches as unconfirmed, and choose Samsung, Google, OnePlus or Garmin instead when long-term updates, LTE, iPhone support or specialist sports features matter more than TicWatch battery life.
