Xiaomi announced the Redmi Watch 4, Redmi Buds 5 and Redmi Buds 5 Pro at its global Redmi Note 13-series launch on January 15, 2024. Launch coverage put the Watch 4 at about $107 and the standard Buds 5 at about $46; these are historical launch prices, not current quotes. The products are now older generations, and availability, pricing and features vary by market.
What Xiaomi launched on January 15, 2024
The Redmi wearables joined the global Redmi Note 13-series launch. The announcement covered three distinct accessories: the Redmi Watch 4, Redmi Buds 5 and higher-spec Redmi Buds 5 Pro. “Global launch” describes the international launch event and rollout; it does not mean every country received the same model, configuration or sale date. Android Headlines’ launch coverage reported the products and approximate launch prices, while Gizmochina’s January 4, 2024 report identified January 15 as the event date.
The Watch 4 and Buds 5 were individual products, not a single required bundle with a Redmi Note 13 phone. Regional retailers could set their own availability and offers. The launch figures of about $107 for the Watch 4 and $46 for the Buds 5—and about $78 for the Buds 5 Pro—are reported January 2024 prices, not guaranteed prices in every country or current 2026 prices.
Redmi Watch 4: display, design and everyday features
The global Watch 4 has a 1.97-inch AMOLED display with 450 × 390 resolution, a refresh rate of up to 60Hz and peak brightness of up to 600 nits, according to Xiaomi’s product specifications. Its aluminum-alloy middle frame is paired with a stainless-steel rotating crown. The quick-release strap system makes strap changes easier, and Xiaomi lists two main watch colors and more than 200 watch faces.

Bluetooth calling uses the watch’s built-in microphone and speaker, but calls still rely on a connected smartphone. Xiaomi says voice calls from third-party apps are not supported. The watch is not a Wear OS device, so buyers should not expect the app selection, payments or depth of third-party services associated with Apple Watch, Galaxy Watch or Pixel Watch.
Health, workouts and positioning
Xiaomi lists heart-rate, blood-oxygen (SpO₂), sleep and stress tracking, along with more than 150 sports modes. Independent GNSS uses five satellite-positioning systems, allowing the watch to record outdoor positioning without carrying the phone for the route itself. Notifications, calls and many connected functions still depend on the phone and Bluetooth connection.
These health features are intended for wellness, not diagnosis or treatment. Sensor readings should not be treated as clinical measurements. The Watch 4 is rated 5ATM for water resistance, but that rating is not a promise of permanent protection or suitability for every kind of water exposure; wear and tear can affect resistance.

Battery claims and their conditions
Xiaomi advertises up to 20 days in typical use, up to 10 days with the always-on display and up to 30 days in long-battery mode. These are manufacturer test estimates, not guaranteed runtimes. Xiaomi’s typical-use and AOD test profiles limit or turn off features including high-precision sleep monitoring, stress monitoring and all-day blood-oxygen monitoring. Long-battery mode also entails reduced functionality. Actual life depends on settings and use.
Redmi Buds 5: ANC, sound hardware and connectivity
The standard Redmi Buds 5 use a single 12.4mm dynamic driver with a titanium-plated diaphragm. Xiaomi claims active noise cancellation (ANC) depth of up to 46dB and offers Deep, Balanced and Light ANC levels, plus three transparency modes. The 46dB figure is a manufacturer claim measured under particular conditions, not a promise that all noise will be reduced by that amount in everyday use. Fit, the noise’s frequency and the selected mode all matter.
Each earbud has two microphones for AI-assisted call noise reduction. Xiaomi claims wind-noise resistance up to 6m/s. The earbuds use Bluetooth 5.3 and support Google Fast Pair, touch controls and dual-device connectivity. Dual-device use is off by default and must be enabled through the Xiaomi Earbuds app, where users can also adjust ANC and touch controls, select from four EQ presets and install firmware updates. Xiaomi lists app support for Android 6.0 and later and iOS 14.0 and later; specific features can vary by phone, operating system and firmware.

Battery and water protection
Xiaomi rates the Buds 5 for up to 10 hours on a charge and up to 40 hours including the case, with ANC, transparency and dual-device connection disabled, volume set to 50% and specified test phones and firmware. Those laboratory estimates will fall with ANC, calls, higher volume or other demanding settings. Xiaomi also claims up to two hours of playback after a five-minute charge when the case has at least 20% battery.
The IP54 rating applies to the earbuds, not the charging case. It is not a rating for swimming or showering, and Xiaomi warns against hot water and strenuous exercise where sweat could damage them. The earbuds have non-replaceable batteries; Xiaomi’s support FAQ covers battery and care information.
Redmi Buds 5 versus Buds 5 Pro
The standard Buds 5 and Buds 5 Pro are separate models. The Pro adds stronger claimed ANC and different audio hardware; it is the more relevant choice for buyers who specifically want LDAC. The following specifications were reported in launch coverage; Xiaomi’s standard Buds 5 page provides the detailed specifications for that model.

Both ANC figures are manufacturer claims, not directly comparable real-world test results. Launch prices were approximate historical figures and do not establish today’s local price. The standard Buds 5 suit buyers focused on basic ANC and lower launch cost; the Pro is the more appropriate comparison for listeners who value LDAC, the added tweeter and higher claimed ANC. Prices, sale dates, retailer stock, colors and warranty terms varied by country. A product page or listing does not by itself prove that a particular configuration is officially sold or supported in your market. Xiaomi’s global pages describe the international products, but they do not establish universal NFC availability for the Watch 4. Do not assume a listing for an imported Chinese-region unit has the same NFC behavior, software, language support, warranty or app-region compatibility as a local model.
- Check the precise model number, regional warranty and return policy before buying, especially from a marketplace seller.
- For the Watch 4, confirm language and app-region compatibility, and verify NFC locally if it matters to you rather than assuming it is included.
- For Buds 5, confirm the retailer’s warranty and return terms; fit and comfort cannot be determined from specifications.
- Use Xiaomi’s global wearable catalog and global TWS catalog to see the currently listed product families, then check local stock and pricing with an authorized retailer.
As of August 18, 2026, Xiaomi’s global catalogs prominently list newer products, including the Redmi Watch 5 and Redmi Buds 8. The Watch 4 and Buds 5 pages may remain accessible in some regions, but that is not evidence of current local stock. The Redmi Watch 5 page describes the newer watch generation; current Buds listings are in Xiaomi’s TWS catalog. Compare live local prices rather than treating 2024 launch prices as today’s deal.

Redmi Watch 4
It can still make sense at a substantial discount if you want an AMOLED screen, built-in GNSS, Bluetooth calling and long claimed battery life, and if local support is clear. It is a poor fit if you need a full app-rich smartwatch, dependable payment support across regions or medical-grade monitoring. If its price is close to a newer model, compare the Watch 5 and consider the newer generation’s availability and support.
Redmi Buds 5
The Buds 5 remain a possible budget ANC choice if sold with a credible local warranty and return option. Their headline ANC and battery numbers are not guarantees of performance for your ears or usage. Choose the Pro only if its codec and hardware advantages are relevant and worth the local price difference; if that gap is small, also compare current-generation earbuds rather than paying near-launch prices for an older model.
