The Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro is worth considering if you want Google’s smartwatch apps and a large, bright display at a historically lower launch price than several rivals. Its Wear OS software, solid hardware and broad health tracking make it a capable everyday smartwatch; battery life is roughly two days in ordinary use, while GPS accuracy and sports features fall short of specialist watches. LTE is useful only if your Android phone, carrier and plan support the required eSIM service.
What the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro offers
The Watch 2 Pro pairs Google’s Wear OS with Xiaomi’s MIUI layer and fitness tools. Google Play gives it access to Google Wallet, Assistant, Maps and third-party apps. Xiaomi lists more than 200 downloadable apps. Stuff’s 2023 review tested Wear OS 3.5 and reported quick app installation and no noticeable lag. Reviewer Michael Sawh summed it up: “Google’s smarts go with Xiaomi’s own strong suite of fitness tracking features, making the Watch 2 Pro its most likeable smartwatch yet.” Stuff’s review.
The core hardware is strong for an everyday smartwatch: a Snapdragon W5+ Gen 1 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage. Xiaomi specifies a 46 mm case diameter; Stuff’s tested watch was 47 mm. The case is stainless steel, with black fluororubber or silver-and-brown-leather options documented by Xiaomi. A rotating crown and two side buttons provide physical controls.
Display and build
The 1.43-inch AMOLED display has 466 × 466 resolution and 326 pixels per inch. Xiaomi rates it at up to 600 nits; Stuff found it vibrant and readable indoors and outdoors. Xiaomi and Stuff document 5 ATM water resistance. Stuff described the build as solid, though the classic styling is relatively safe rather than distinctive.

Battery life and charging
Xiaomi rates the 495 mAh battery for up to 65 hours on the Bluetooth model and up to 55 hours on LTE. Those are official maximum figures, not a guarantee for every setting. In Stuff’s review, ordinary use lasted about two full days. Always-on display and bright-screen sports tracking could bring endurance down to roughly a day. Xiaomi says charging takes about 45 minutes; Stuff found that 30 minutes generally provided more than a day’s use. Fitness tracking and GPS
Xiaomi lists more than 150 sports modes and dual-band L1+L5 GNSS across five satellite systems. Health and wellness features include heart-rate tracking, blood oxygen (SpO2), sleep stages and breathing-quality monitoring, stress and temperature measurements, a barometer, a compass and bioelectrical-impedance body-composition estimates. For general activity tracking, the feature set is broad. It is less convincing for people who depend on precise route data or structured sports tracking: Stuff found that dual-band GPS did not match Garmin, Apple or Suunto watches, and treadmill tracking needed calibration. If running pace, route accuracy or training tools are a priority, compare specialist sports watches before choosing this model.
Bluetooth or LTE: which version makes sense?
The Bluetooth version is the simpler choice if you usually carry your phone. LTE can provide calls, messages, music streaming, navigation and online apps away from the phone when service is active. Xiaomi describes direct 4G LTE connectivity as a way to stay connected phone-free, but the feature has specific compatibility and carrier requirements.

For phone-free LTE calling, Xiaomi requires an eligible Android phone running Android 8.0 or newer, a separate qualifying wireless plan, and carrier support for eSIM number twinning or an independent number. Compatibility: Android only, not iPhone
The Watch 2 Pro does not support iPhone pairing. Xiaomi specifies Android compatibility through Mi Fitness and requires Google Mobile Services. That rules it out if you need a watch to pair with an iPhone, regardless of whether you intend to use LTE.

How it compares with alternatives
The relevant alternatives include the Samsung Galaxy Watch 6 Classic, Google Pixel Watch 2 and TicWatch Pro 5. They compete in the same broad smartwatch category, but the best choice depends on what matters most: app integration, battery life, sports performance, design, LTE support and current local price. Stuff positioned Xiaomi below those rivals on price at launch while praising its Google software and display. Its review listed launch prices of £239 for Bluetooth and £290 for LTE; those are historical UK figures from 2023, not current prices. Check local availability and pricing before buying.
- Choose the Xiaomi if Google apps, a large AMOLED screen and broad everyday tracking are your priorities, and its current price is attractive.
- Compare other watches closely if you want more polished styling, stronger sports or GPS performance, or different battery-life and support expectations.
- Check LTE before buying if phone-free connectivity is the deciding feature; carrier and plan compatibility is essential.
Verdict: is the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro worth buying?
For an Android user who wants Wear OS and Google Play without paying a premium for a more distinctive design, the Xiaomi Watch 2 Pro makes a persuasive everyday smartwatch. Its hardware and display are compelling, and its fitness features cover a wide range of activities. It is less suitable for iPhone owners, serious sports tracking, or anyone expecting multi-day battery life with demanding settings enabled. Judge the value by the current regional price, not its 2023 UK launch price.
