What is the Rolex Submariner 124060?
Reference 124060 is the no-date steel Submariner introduced in 2020, replacing the 40 mm reference 114060. It belongs to the updated Submariner family but keeps the clean, symmetrical dial without a date window. Rolex’s current product page identifies the watch as a 41 mm Oystersteel model with a black dial and black Cerachrom bezel insert: Rolex Submariner 124060.
In appearance, the update is evolutionary rather than a redesign. The black dial and bezel remain central to the familiar Submariner look, while the case and bracelet proportions changed. Both Monochrome Watches and Hodinkee covered those details at launch; their descriptions of how the proportions look or feel are reviewer observations, not formal fit measurements.

Monochrome’s Brice Goulard described the new lugs as more tapered, noted revised crown guards, and reported a case height of around 12.5 mm. He also said the watch felt more compact despite its larger nominal diameter. That is his hands-on impression, not a universal fit verdict. Hodinkee’s Stephen Pulvirent also noted slimmer lugs, a wider bracelet and small dial-text changes in its launch coverage: Monochrome’s 2020 review and Hodinkee’s 2020 introduction.

Case, bezel and bracelet specifications
Rolex specifies a 41 mm Oystersteel case, screw-down case back, Triplock winding crown, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal and 300 metres / 1,000 feet of water resistance. The unidirectional bezel has a black Cerachrom ceramic insert marked for 60 minutes. The three-link Oyster bracelet closes with an Oysterlock clasp and includes Rolex’s Glidelock extension system. These are manufacturer specifications, not an independent assessment of performance.
What movement is in the 124060?
The watch uses Rolex calibre 3230, a self-winding mechanical movement with bidirectional rotor winding. Rolex gives its power reserve as approximately 70 hours and states precision of −2/+2 seconds per day after casing. Rolex calls the watch a Superlative Chronometer; its certification applies to the cased watch and includes the brand’s own tests. These are Rolex’s stated specifications and certification claims, not independent comparative findings. The no-date Submariner uses calibre 3230; Rolex specifies calibre 3235 for the Submariner Date. The date model is therefore not simply the same watch with a calendar window added: the movement reference differs as well.
