Two documented 2025 Formula 1 team-watch collaborations stand out in the official announcements reviewed here: IWC’s team-worn Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team, and H. Moser & Cie.’s paired Alpine Drivers and Mechanics Editions. They serve different purposes: the IWC is an automatic pilot’s watch, while the Alpine set combines a mechanical chronograph with a connected tool for team procedures. Neither is an objective winner without comparable pricing, independent testing, or current availability.
First, separate team watches from Formula 1’s timekeeper
Formula 1 announced TAG Heuer as the sport’s Official Timekeeper from the 2025 season on 6 January 2025. That is a series-level partnership, not the same thing as a watch made in collaboration with a particular team. Formula 1’s partner page says TAG Heuer first sponsored an F1 team in 1971, held the Official Timekeeper role from 1992 to 2003, and resumed it in 2025; it lists the TAG Heuer Formula 1, Carrera, and Monaco collections. Formula 1’s TAG Heuer partner page explains that history.
Formula One Group’s 6 January 2025 announcement attributes 230 wins, 595 podiums, 8,882 points, 11 World Constructors’ Championships, and 14 World Drivers’ Championships to TAG Heuer’s team associations. Those are historical figures about the associations, not performance measures for any watch. Formula One Group’s announcement also records the appointment date.

IWC Mark XX Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS: a team-worn automatic
IWC announced the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula One Team (IW328210) on 16 January 2025. The 40 mm case is grade 5 titanium, with a matte grey finish from machining and sandblasting. Its black dial has Petronas-green printed numerals and indices, with matching luminous hands. A green rubber strap uses IWC’s EasX-CHANGE strap system, and the case back is engraved for the team. IWC’s announcement provides the model’s specifications.

Movement, reserve, and water resistance
The watch uses IWC-manufactured automatic calibre 32111, with a stated power reserve of 120 hours and water resistance of 10 bar. The release establishes those specifications, but does not provide independent test results or comparative performance measurements.
What the team link means
IWC said team mechanics, engineers, and race strategists would wear the Mark XX trackside during the 2025 season. The company describes its Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS relationship as an Official Engineering Partner partnership dating to 2013. Its racing page calls the Mark XX the third team watch created for its Mercedes partner, after the 2022 Pilot’s Watch Chronograph 41 Edition and the 2023 Pilot’s Watch Performance Chronograph 41 team watch. IWC’s racing page gives that series context.

H. Moser & Cie. Alpine: a watch and a connected team tool
Alpine announced two H. Moser & Cie. creations on 29 May 2025: a mechanical Drivers Edition chronograph and a connected Mechanics Edition conceived for team procedures. The announcement describes the two as a pair, so shoppers should distinguish the set from the exception it specifies for some existing owners. Alpine’s release details the models and stated purchase arrangement.

Drivers Edition: mechanical flyback chronograph
The Drivers Edition uses a skeleton version of the AgenGraphe movement. Its central minute and seconds display has no subdials, and the chronograph includes a flyback function. Alpine’s announcement does not state the case size, case material, power reserve, or water resistance.

Mechanics Edition: connected functions for procedures
The Mechanics Edition is described as a connected tool compatible with Android and iOS. Its listed functions include a GMT and country selector, split-seconds chronograph, perpetual calendar, F1 mode, race countdowns, and notifications. Alpine says it syncs by Bluetooth on demand and specifies one year in time-only mode or six Grands Prix in connected mode. These are partner-stated specifications, not independently tested battery-life results.
How Alpine describes the set
Alpine says the two watches are sold together in an exclusive presentation case limited to 200 pieces. The release identifies a separate-purchase exception: the connected model may be purchased separately by owners of the 2024 Streamliner Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Alpine in blue or pink. This is the arrangement Alpine stated in its announcement; it does not establish present stock.

Which 2025 F1 team watch fits your priorities?
- Choose the IWC as the closer fit if you want one conventional automatic watch. Its partner announcement supplies a defined case size and material, movement, power reserve, water resistance, and team-worn context.
- Consider the Alpine pair if the split between mechanical timekeeping and connected team functions appeals to you. The Drivers Edition is a flyback chronograph; the Mechanics Edition is designed around operational features rather than being simply another mechanical watch.
- Do not compare unsupported specifications as if they were equivalent. Alpine’s release does not state the case size, material, power reserve, or water resistance; IWC’s announcement does not describe connected race-procedure functions.
- Confirm the buying terms before making a decision. The official releases do not establish current prices, stock, authorized seller status, or independent comparative testing for either option.
What the announcements do—and do not—establish
The strongest comparison available from the announcements is one of purpose and stated design: IWC describes a trackside team-worn automatic, while Alpine describes a mechanical chronograph paired with a connected team tool. The releases do not provide comparable prices, independent testing, comfort assessments, service costs, or live inventory. Treat those as questions for the brand or an authorized seller, and verify seller authorization and availability directly before purchasing.
