Convertible-case watches do more than offer a second view: depending on the design, the case can flip to reveal another display, turn between two dials, or convert the watch into a different way to wear or display it. These five examples show how varied that idea can be—and what to compare before choosing one.
What makes a watch case convertible?
“Convertible” covers several different mechanisms. Hamilton’s Face-2-Face III flips a central container; the Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso turns to expose its other dial; BOVET’s Amadéo system can change certain watches between wristwatch, pocket-watch and table-clock formats; and De Bethune and Patek Philippe use reversible cases to present opposing faces. The practical question is what the other side gives you: another useful display, a view of the movement, or a different way to use the watch.
The five models below were featured in Robin Nooy’s 12 February 2023 Monochrome Watches guide. Its prices and limited-edition figures are historical, not current offers. Current price and availability for all five exact configurations are not established here.

Hamilton Jazzmaster Face-2-Face III: a flip between chronograph and movement
The Hamilton offers a mechanically straightforward reason to turn the watch over: one side is a sporty chronograph, while the other puts the movement on display and includes a central chronograph seconds hand. Its 44 mm diameter and 17.25 mm thickness make it the thickest explicitly measured example in this group; the 50 m water-resistance figure is also useful when considering daily wear.

The 999-piece limit and EUR 2,995 price were reported in the 2023 guide. They should not be read as a statement of present stock or what a buyer will pay now.
Jaeger-LeCoultre Reverso Tribute Duoface: a second time zone on the reverse
Reference Q3908410 is a steel, manually wound Reverso measuring 42.9 × 25.5 mm, according to Jaeger-LeCoultre’s official product page. Turn the case to reveal a second time-zone display with a 24-hour indicator. The reverse is functional rather than merely decorative: the maker explains that the two back-to-back dials use pairs of hands rotating in opposite directions while sharing one movement.

BOVET Monsieur Bovet turquoise: from wrist to pocket or table
The BOVET stands apart because conversion can change the watch’s format, not just which dial faces up. The 2023 guide describes the turquoise Monsieur Bovet as a 43 mm gold watch with displays on both sides, a seven-day power reserve, and a built-in stand; its Amadéo case can be adapted for wrist, pocket or table use without tools.
BOVET describes its Amadéo system as enabling many watches to convert among those three formats without tools. That is a system-level description, not confirmation that every BOVET watch—or this exact turquoise configuration—is currently available. The guide’s 60-piece limit and USD 60,000 price are from 2023.

De Bethune Kind of Two Tourbillon: two contrasting faces
The Kind of Two Tourbillon uses a reversible container held by spring-loaded swivelling lugs. One side has a traditional style; the other exposes a more contemporary design with the tourbillon visible. The 2023 guide gives a grade 5 titanium case measuring 42.8 × 9.5 mm, a manual DB2579 calibre and a 120-hour power reserve.
Its CHF 215,000 price was reported before taxes in that 2023 guide. Current status and pricing for this exact model are not established here.

Patek Philippe Grandmaster Chime 6300G: a reversible case for 20 complications
The Grandmaster Chime 6300G uses a double-sided white-gold case that swivels between the lugs, letting the wearer choose which face is presented. The model described in the 2023 guide has 20 complications, including grande and petite sonnerie. Patek Philippe’s 2016 release explains the patented reversing mechanism and complication context. Its current collection page describes a reversible double-sided case for reference 6300GR-001; that is a different reference and does not establish stock for the blue 6300G configuration discussed here.

What to compare before choosing
- What the reverse does: Decide whether you want a second time zone, a movement view, a contrasting design or an alternate wearing format.
- How it converts: A case that turns between two faces works differently from one that flips its container or adapts for a pocket chain or table stand. Confirm the handling method for the exact reference.

- Price and availability: The figures in the 2023 guide are dated reporting, not a current price comparison. Ask the maker or an authorized retailer about the exact reference, configuration, current price and availability.
